Latin Name Rosa palustris

1.  Description

Rosa palustris is a shrub with alternate, pinnately compound leaves, on thorny stems. The flowers are pink, borne in summer.

2.  Obtainment

Very Common. Wild growth. It "occurs along stream banks, in swamps and marshes. In swamps it is generally found growing on bald cypress knees or exposed downed logs. It grows best in slightly acidic, wet to moist soils in partial shade or full sunlight." [1]

Be forewarned -- they are quite susceptible to pests and other predation, and require a watchful eye.
