Introduction
Aevum Absens is a band of rag-tag hooligans and the downtrodden strung together by loose threads of shared purpose; whatever twisted aches and hurts of their pasts can be cast off once brought into the fold of found family who seek to follow fortune and liberty at whatever the cost it may bring. Their front as a gambling and entertainment den is a hardly-transparent veil for a burgeoning criminal network involving illicit substances, fencing of ill-gotten goods, and the bartering of other worldly pleasures.

Organizational Model | Patron-Client Network
Patron–client networks are defined by fluid interactions. They produce crime groups that operate as smaller units within the overall network, and as such tend towards valuing significant others, familiarity of social and economic environments, or tradition. These networks are usually composed of:
- Hierarchies based on 'naturally' forming family, social and cultural traditions;
- 'Tight-knit' focus of activity/labor;
- Fraternal or nepotistic value systems;
- Personalized activity; including family rivalries, territorial disputes, recruitment and training of family members, etc.;
- Entrenched belief systems, reliance of tradition
- Communication and rule enforcement mechanisms dependent on organizational structure, social etiquette, history of criminal involvement, and collective decision-making.
Seniority and Hierarchy
While there is no stringent ranking, hierarchy, nor chain of command within Aevum Absens, there are still unspoken rules to which individuals abide by when it comes to interpersonal conduct.
Social Structure
Aevum Absens loose 'found family' construction follows traditional rules with "Respect your elders"; the structure of the group is loose, yet fair - each has their role to play, and is expected to fulfill tasks and duties designated to them. Secondary to age comes due respect when it comes to actions when it comes to the collective and its benefit: Tenure with "crime" and successful jobs garners trust and praise, as does the collection and successful dissemination of information.
Whilst not the most secretive bunch, Aevum Absens are selective with what they share and what they keep, ultimately, private, until a mutual assured trust (or dependence) can be garnered between parties.
When it comes to Outsiders, Jett seems to think he knows best and teaches every fledgling Moonlighter with the important tenant: Trust no one but our kin.

Titles amongst the group fall in line with terminology, phrases, and slang pertaining to organized crime.

Symbols and Meanings
Given the group's proclivities towards accumulation of information, they've adapted a loose cant "language" in written symbols to communicate with one another when not in the company of other members of the group. They also have a tendency to utilize phrases and terms to speak in code with one another. Moonlighters are highly discouraged from sharing their secretive written language or terminology.

Common Phrases
- "Hope (their) cassock's clean" : In reference to a priest's garment, the phrase indicates a directive to gather more information on a target. Alternatively, the phrase implies things may not be what they seem. When phrased as a question, the recipient is being asked about what they know or what they have found out.
- "(I) am choked" : Often accompanied by a self-fanning motion of the hand and other "beleaguered" body language - a favorite of pickpockets. Indicates to others that the individual has gotten something of value and needs to leave. Feigning exhaustion calls on the partner to come and take the individual away under the guise of concern.
- "(Their) teeth are chipped" : Relays that there is nothing of value to be gathered, or someone isn't worth doing business with. Referencing that something (not only "teeth") is chipped indicates that efforts should be redirected elsewhere.
Location
Members of Aevum Absens are largely quite mobile, and generally encouraged to explore and gather information about other bands or packs in the area pursuant to leads in commerce, potential theft targets, or other engaging rumor mills. However, they've set up their base of operations within the rather heavily trafficked Saint John so they can best keep their ear to the ground when it comes to chatter.
Situated on the outskirts of the city itself, the band occupies a small subsection of the municipality's once urban sprawl, and they regularly seek to engage with passerby traveling to-and-from local areas to busier hubs like Portland. Whether or not that engagement is always classified as friendly is not always guaranteed.
