1.1  Appearance

Physical

Arkana takes after her mother, and is petite. She has a narrow skull and bushy tail, triangular ears and thick, but relatively short fur. This is primarily a cloudy gray color, showing a darker non-domino agouti around her topside, and featuring a white trim. Dark points mark the edges of her ears and in two notable spots on the topside of her tail. Like a proper D'Angelo, Arkana has green eyes.

In her Optime form, Arkana's hair grows in two-tone, and features a single pale streak in her forelock. She often styles her hair into braids.

What most people remember about Arkana D'Angelo is her attitude. She comes off as catty, and often snotty, making it clear that she is judging you. Given that (according to her) she has no such flaws. In some ways, she is decent person -- Arkana can be extremely empathetic to others, especially those who may be able to provide her something in the future. She's grown up needing to compete for attention with her siblings, and while this has left her regularly all too aware of her own shortcomings, Arkana has carried on diligently, determined to rise to where she belongs. Her "never say die" attitude has gotten her out of a lot of trouble before, incorrectly convincing her that she's capable of handling just about anything.

    • Arkana is an aspiring witch. She grew up in a family where such practices were looked down upon, leaving her to delve into the realm of the occult in secret. As such, her belief system is very eclectic and disorderly, pulling from a variety of sources.
    • Note: The adopter will be free to expand upon exactly what these might have been. Norse Paganism was practiced in Fort Preble by the Helsi family, but any variety of faith systems would be present in Portland. Arkana may also choose to learn more about the beliefs of the Khalif, or any other player-based in-game religion.

Main Focus: Burgulary, Spiritualism, Herbalism
  • Burglary (Journeyman):
The act of entering places owned by others to steal their goods. Small and slight, Arkana realized she was able to fit in places others couldn't. More than that, her flexibility and luck have made her confident enough with her skills to expand her attempts. Arkana is talented at lock picking (though she's only ever encountered rudimentary versions of these). Her abilities to find get in, find loot, and get out without being discovered have -- thus far -- kept her from facing any consequences.
  • The Occult (Apprentice):
Driven by curiosity, as Arkana grew she began to take notice of a small but powerful collective within Salsola. Though forbidden to join in any such practices, Arkana went out of her way to learn everything she could on her own. Through observation and Outsider sources, she has developed her own understanding of what magic really is. Now, she seeks to learn from her packmates without needing to hide what she believes. (Note: See Spiritualism.)
  • Plant Identification (Journeyman):
While she was taught about "good" and "bad" plants early on, Arkana became more interested in plants once she began learning about the occult. As she was able to freely practice this while in Fort Preble, she has developed a good eye and memory of most common plants, trees, and brush.
  • Herbal Medicine (Apprentice):
She has limited knowledge when it comes to the healing properties of herbs, but knows common cure-alls involving tea or other simple tinctures.
Auxiliary Skills and Hobbies

This skill game is a pastime of Arkana's, and she's particularly good at it. While some consider it a toy for children, Arkana can perform skillful tricks with her own variation. Personality:

Grykon is a confidant of Arkana's, and is privy to most of her secret interests (witchcraft and burglary). They work alongside their Luperci companion, assisting in exchange for food, shelter, and companionship. Though a mutually beneficial partnership, there's a true bond of loyalty and trust between the pair. However, that does not extend to those beyond Arkana's social circle -- Grykon likes to "scope out" others, and is unlikely to present themself to Luperci if not with Arkana.

History:

  • Born in the area around Portland. When old enough, Grykon's mother took her offspring to the larger city, where she left them in the care of a local Luperci.
  • Several of the kittens were brought to Fort Preble when a member of Salsola accepted the litter as part of a trade deal.
  • Grew older in Fort Preble, learning how to be a proper cat from elders. Befriended Arkana, whom they began to follow around endlessly. This led to their discovery of her performing a strange ritual, though Arkana was quick to open up to the cat, whom she swore to secrecy. Interested in the idea of magic (and enjoying the idea of playing a game even if nothing happened) Grykon became Arkana's "familiar". Together, they performed various magical "spells" and performed a few small robberies.
