Tarina Skadi

Tarina Skadi is a member of Krokar since July 2017 and previously a member of Vinátta from March 2016 to June 2017.

1.  Appearance

1.1  Essentials

Overview The dogs in her homeland had interbred with wolves and one another for generations, producing Luperci who are hardy, sturdy, and adaptable and Tarina is no exception. In her Optime form, which she prefers but doesn't use exclusively, Tarina has a solid, athletic build with thick limbs and a tapered waist. Species: Primarily dog with very distinguishable wolf features. Fur: She has short, but thick, fur that provides ample protection from harsh winter cold and snow. Optime Hair: Short and messy. Facial Features: Tari's ears are tall and wide and she has a pointed, dainty muzzle. She has almond-shaped, intelligent eyes the color of copper. Build and Size: Though not bulky, Tari has a thick and compact frame with strong limbs and a gradual tuck-up. her tail curls cleanly over her back. Lupus: 68 lbs (30.8 kg) — 24.5 in (62 cm) Secui: 127 lb (57.6 kg) — 37 in (94 cm) Optime 150 lbs (68 kg) — 5ft 6in (66 in) (167.6 cm) Humanization: Moderate. Though her pelt is thick enough to protect her from Nova Scotia winters, she is often seen wearing a patterned shawl from her homeland.

Tarina is a bubbly and cheerful wolfdog with a lot of energy and an optimistic, go-getter attitude. Others seem to gravitate toward her and she loves an audience, where she can sing or play her ocarina or share stories with those around her. Despite her extroverted nature, Tari uses the time when she isn't the center of attention to whittle things out of wood or bone that she can either use for herself or gift to others.

Impulsive and persistent, Tarina can sometimes get herself in over her head and rarely gives up, which can occasionally make her seem obsessive. During these moments, Tari may seem strained or even a little crazed but it is usually better to offer her support rather than attempt to persuade her to give something up. She is very receptive to assistance and is happy to share her latest challenges and goals, or even teach others what she's learned, with those who show interest.

Tari takes pride in her creative nature and loves to spread the joys of her abilities, be it in music or words or crafts, and can frequently be seen offering support or camaraderie in this way. Thick-skinned and confident, she is able to take criticism well and let unfriendly remarks roll off her back without effort.

5.  History

Hailing from the fells of Scandinavia, Tarina was born to the prominent Skadi family known for their proficiency as reindeer herders and musicians. Born last alongside five larger brothers, Tarina was doted on by both her parents and her littermates. But growing up was not without its challenges and Tari found it difficult to find her niche within her pack. While her brothers took up roles as reindeer herders or fiddlers or hunters, Tarina found her passions in linguistics and whittling, which were looked down upon as lesser abilities.

Still, her family offered support as best as they could while still encouraging her to take up more traditional roles within the pack. Her father gifted an ocarina to her, which she seemed to have a natural ability to play, while her mother taught her the necessities of reindeer husbandry. She continued to practice whittling and storytelling, sometimes in their native tongue and sometimes in English, while developing a fondness for her ocarina and for singing. Eventually, her family took to calling her Tarina the Ocarina and while it made her feel glad to have something to be known by, she still struggled to find her footing.

After much talk and much planning, Tarina said farewell to her family and set out to travel the world and find a place where she could truly fit in. Though it took several months, she eventually made it to North America where she settled in with a troupe of musicians who were meandering the country. In what was formerly known as Minnesota, Tari met a coydog woman named Inara Naira while the troupe settled in near her tribe. She spoke of a pack called Vinátta, which seemed to share a lot of similarities to Tarina's own background and beliefs. The troupe stayed in the area for several days before deciding to travel east. Unable to get thoughts of Vinátta out of her mind, Tari parted ways from the troupe and carried on in the direction Inara had told her to go, her promise to pass along the coydog's greetings forefront in her mind.

Tarina found and joined Vinátta along with two other loners in March 2016. She remained a loyal member of the pack until it's disbandment in June 2017. She and another former Vináttan, Tak Oreille, later joined Krokar.
