Calhoun Escuella, otherwise known as The Reverend, is a coyote born in the region between Nevada and Utah known to locals as Rattler's Gulch.

He was a rough and rowdy boy in his youth, and regularly tagged after his Irish father, who was a man of the cloth to the locals, with a taste for gambling and talking himself out of trouble as quick as he got into it. Calhoun inherited his father's quick talking, and his Spanish mother's expensive tastes in brandy. While not as silver-tongued as his sister, Evelyn Escuella, Calhoun picked up easy on quick-talking mannerisms, and knows how to dominate a conversation and steer it in his favor, alongside his cohort and theatrical sibling, Lawrence Escuella, and took to swindling "donations" from an early age. Often, he fell back on relying on fists to do his talking when his tongue could not.

The trio of siblings helped to support their parents' ranch until a band of wolves, the Deadcreek Revivalists, swept through the region and razed the coyote settlements to the ground. The Escuella Estate was reduced to rubble, and Evelyn was trapped inside, prompting her two brothers to come to her aid. While Calhoun got away with the rescue effort, mostly unharmed, his sister was disfigured by her burns, and his brother succumbed to his wounds and smoke inhilation. With their home destroyed, and family gone, Evelyn and Calhoun scattered into the desert, where they ran into a fellow neighbor, and friend, Santiago Tejada, the trio in bad shape, but alive.

After wandering the desert, the trio were found, and picked up, by a modest gang of coyote outlaws known as the Drygrass Posse, where they were cared for and nursed back to health, only to join up in their ranks.

After run-ins with rival wolf gangs, and self-proclaimed regional law, the Posse fled north to escape their hunting, until only the three from Rattler's Gulch were all that remained. After bolstering their numbers, and venturing further north with The Cartel, the reformed, and reborn Drygrass Posse were followed by old enemies. Calhoun stumbled upon them, and after a day and a half as their captive, was killed by their leader and sent back to the Posse's camp as a message.

Hang me on a tree, After I count down, three rounds, In hell I'll be in good company.

1.1  Essentials

Broadest of his siblings, he takes after his father in shape, but his mother in her bright and colorful gold coloration. He's blatantly coyote, with his sharp and angular features, and there's a narrowness in the corners of his eyes, and a slyness beneath his generally stern-set features. His thin, southerner's fur doesn't do well to keep him warm in the northern climates, and as such, he keeps himself bundled up, and likes to sport an old hat with a wide, ratty brim. He's got a myriad of little scars, little stories, and a thin smile to match them - Calhoun's hands are rough and his knuckles somewhat patchy; odd, for a man of religion, it would seem.
