1.  Synopsis

Born as one of the local Preacher's sons, Calhoun Escuella and siblings Evelyn and Lawrence lived a modest life in their youth, despite their father's penchant for gambling regularly tracking trouble back home. Where as his sister picked up habits of curt diplomacy young, Calhoun and Lawrence were more prone to bouts of violence and unchecked egos - the both of them young, hardy, and foolish men who regularly butt heads both with each other and their community at large.

The trio of siblings helped to support their parents' ranch until a band of wolves, the Deadcreek Revivalists, swept through the region and razed the coyote settlements to the ground. The Escuella Estate was reduced to rubble, and Evelyn was trapped inside, suffering injury. Her brothers aided in rescuing her, though Lawrence succumbed to his injuries shortly after. With their home destroyed, and family gone, Evelyn and Calhoun scattered into the desert, where they ran into a fellow neighbor and friend, Santiago Tejada, the trio in bad shape, but alive.

After wandering the desert, the trio were found, and picked up, by a modest gang of coyote outlaws known as the Drygrass Posse, where they were cared for and nursed back to health, only to join up in their ranks.

After run-ins with rival wolf gangs, and self-proclaimed regional law, the Posse fled north to escape their hunting, until only the trio from Rattler's Gulch remained.

2.  Through the Valley

With the Drygrass Posse's flight north, their numbers dwindled drastically until, one fateful day, the group's wagon got stuck in a snowdrift, only to find a fortuitous friend in the local Loner Band, The Cartel. Reinvigorated in Santiago's decision, the trio adopted more into their numbers rapidly, keeping close with the northerners who had helped them in a mutually beneficial relationship. But, as with all good things, this period of relative peace was not long lived.

Tailed by a hellbent group of wolves out for vengeance, Calhoun was captured and beaten for answers that he refused to relent. Fed up with his curmudgeonly attitude and noncompliance, Solomon James [M] beheaded the coyote and strapped his body atop his own horse to send a message of reckoning back to the Posse.
