Kit Grimalkin
Portrait
Basics
  • Sex: Female
  • Pronouns: She/Her
  • Species: Wolf
  • Date of Birth: April 2021
  • Affiliation: Grimalkin
  • Contract: Moderate
Summary

Daughter of Jessica Grimalkin and Jasper Grimalkin, sister of Yael and Isola. She was born at The Black Cat to parents that erred more on the provincial side of life. Her father was a southern farmhand and her mother a British transplant, who raised her brood with a firm hand. While "properly educated," Kit had her fair share of labor by helping raise and tend to the Grimalkin troupe's livestock and colony of cats. Despite being the runt, she likes to pick on Yael.

Freeform Creations & Connections

If you are interested in creating an original character largely of your own imagination but with preexisting connections and family ties, check out the options below! They are suitable for both played characters and cNPCs!

  • We Make Our Own Luck Grimalkin — A troupe of performers and found-family canines, the Grimalkin are the propitiators of The Black Cat in Portland; the open air venue hosts entertainment to attract audiences and serves alcohol to keep them hanging. They are known for their theatrics, hospitality, taking in strays, and their colony of cats—lesser known is their spy services on behalf of their benefactors. Through the process of the Embrace, outsiders are able to join the fold!
  • The Grimalkin are open-minded and supportive of queer identities; while acceptance and understanding is not required, characters who are outwardly bigoted and rude will be not be accepted.
  • The Grimalkin will not tolerate individuals who are exceedingly violent or will cause a ruckus with the locals in Portland; if your character is a charming rogue for example, they need to keep it on the down low!
  • Check the status of notable NPCs to see which are available to establish an Embrace with! If none suits your needs, I am open to the idea of creating a unique NPC for your needs!
  • If the above stipulations are agreeable, please send a PM to my OOC account with this form filled out!

Adoptable Terms

Player Considerations

More than anything, I appreciate players who demonstrate good communication and engagement with the site—those who are willing to talk ideas or issues with me and strive to engage their adoptable in plots.

I may not adopt to players who:

  • Constantly pick up, drop, and switch characters.
  • Show severe streaks of inactivity or constant absenteeism.
  • Have a history of issues such as rule-breaking or discourteous behavior.
Reclaiming an Adoptable

I reserve the right to reclaim an adoptable if...

  • ...the character has been removed in an activity sweep, or dropped after brief or inadequate play.
  • ...any stipulation in the character's contract has been broken.
  • ...the player has failed to join with the adoptable in a timely manner.
  • ...the player has otherwise broken boardwide rules, been banned, or caused OOC issues.

If you need to drop the character but intend to pick them back up, we can discuss this! Additionally, I tend not to reclaim adoptables who have extensive (1+ year, >200 posts) play.

Art & Bauble Terms

  • All baubles (art, titles, icons, etc.) originally given with the adoptable return with the character.
  • Gift art and gift graphics are typically considered reclaimable with the adoptable.
  • Commissioned and bought art is considered your property. New players must request your permission to use such items, even in the case of art customized to that particular character.
  • Titles and icons...
    • ... earned via game points, contests, etc. are considered your property; however, you must request removal/transfer within two (2) months after dropping the adoptable or they become property of the new player.
    • ... purchased via the 'Souls store are considered your property and may be removed/transferred to your own character at any time.

Contracts

Note: Each adoptable has a specific contract that must be read and agreed to; the following overviews are examples of expectations.

Relaxed

These adoptables are freeform and do not come with additional constraints. Generally, many aspects of the character can be fleshed out by the adopter! I will be pretty "hands-off" with these characters.

  • Pre-adoption changes are generally acceptable.
  • Adoptable likely does not have additional stipulations.
  • Activity and engagement expectations are low; you're mostly free to do your own thing with the character.
  • May adopt out as a companion NPC to another character with discussion.
Moderate

These adoptables may have some constraints, or have details that can be changed with discussion. They often have active on-board connections for plots, but without many strict expectations.

  • Pre-adoption changes may be acceptable, if they don't contradict IC details.
  • Adoptable may have additional stipulations (e.g. required to join a specific pack or participate in a specific plot).
  • Consistent activity and communication is expected, but not to a high degree; just keep me in the loop!
Strict

These adoptables come with specific stipulations and high expectations for engagement and communication, but also are the most likely to have active connections and plot opportunities to partake in as well.

  • Character must be prioritized as a primary or secondary character.
  • Pre-adoption changes are not acceptable.
  • Adoptable likely has additional stipulations (e.g. required to join a specific pack or participate in a specific plot).
  • Consistent activity and communication is expected. I will want to have a lot of plots and threads with you and this character!

Pre-Adoption Changes

For characters without IC development, such as those coming from off-board, pre-adoption changes are often acceptable with discussion. Relaxed-contract adoptables afford a lot of creative freedom!

Changes may not be possible for characters who have been referenced ICly as this would require retconning. However, some details might be interpreted or fleshed out if not contradictory to prior play—e.g., if a character's sexuality or beliefs on a certain topic were never brought up in roleplay, you're usually free to decide this!

Strict-contract adoptables likely have a more solid "vision" in mind, so pre-adoption changes are unlikely to be approved. However, I am willing to work and plot with you!

Post-Adoption Developments

While some adoptables may have specific stipulations, I am never looking to control every aspect of how you roleplay them! It's expected that you grow them as a character, engage in your own plots, and otherwise have fun with them!

That said, please communicate with me about drastic developments—e.g. amputating one of their limbs, wildly changing their worldview, random elopement, or killing them off. Major developments can occur as a natural progression of plots, of course, but I would prefer that you do not radically alter the character for no reason or do something like kill them for shock value or out of boredom. In cases like this, it's better for me to be able to redopt them to someone who would like to continue on with them as originally envisioned.

Application

Form

You must use the form if you are serious about adopting a character. I cannot adopt a character out to you unless you have used the form to indicate that you agree to my adoption terms.

Process

Private message my OOC Account with your official application.

While I'm happy to discuss adoptables and answer questions over Discord, nothing is official until you PM me with the agreed-upon contract; if you express unofficial interest over Discord, I may still adopt them out to someone else! Likewise, I will send you an official acceptance via PM when I agree to adopt the character to you. I do not adopt on a first come, first serve basis for recently posted adoptables.

A note on pickup dates—I will only "hold" an adoptable for so long. Generally, if you cannot join with the adoptable within two months, I will reclaim the adoptable. (I will work with players on this; for example, if you are actively working toward the character and just need a couple more weeks to get post counts in order.) The exception to this is puppies, if you want to skip the "baby stage," but this will still require communication and plans for an estimated pickup date.
