|
Born in Nevada as a part of a troublesome duo with her sister, Kajia grew up industrious, though with a meddlesome streak that drove her to seek out thrills and conflict. Ever the firebrand, her self-sabotaging nature, naturally, caught up with her as she inflicted her misplaced and misguided envy onto others - including her family. Eventually driven to odds with her sibling and closest confidant, the two incendiary personalities collided with conflict, resulting in Zsorthia's departure from their frontiersman community. In an effort to temper their remaining child's wayward attitude, Kajia was betrothed to the first suitor they could find in the hopes that the crucible of marriage would iron out her unseemly habits. With a plush double coat comprised of a blend of sable and creeping tan patterning, Kajia is colored like smoldering coals and wildfire fox-reds. Year round, her coat is thick and somewhat coarse to the touch, making for a fitting winter coat but ill suiting warm temperature summers. Bands of gold offset copper and deep blacks. Ashy ticking is interspersed through an otherwise black saddle and band forming a necklace around the hollow of Kajia's throat. Her build is a fairly even blend of her heritage, though her size is more in-line with that of a dog than her refined coyote blood. She is muscled, but not entirely lean - motherhood and age has softened her harsh edges and added weight about the tuck of her waist and thighs. Kajia's slim face is frequently severe, and rarely static as she shifts from one capricious mood to the next - however, given her proclivity towards more sour moods and pugnacious actions, discerning intent through her expressions alone can prove difficult. As such, she's not terribly approachable, and commands space with her stiff body language. |

The juvenile notion of "always keep them guessing" that was once a point of contentious pride has stitched itself into the framework of every facet of Kajia's life and her outlook. Internalized to the point of fault, a reckless youth and a footloose, wild life of perceived independence has matured into an ill-adjusted adulthood. Like a bone broken then mended wrong, Kajia has grown into her dysfunction. She's perpetually chasing band-aid fixes for perpetually mounting problems, pursuing the fleeting sensations of relief that seem easier in the short term only to damage her own long-term success. Lacking introspect, she is incapable of accepting even the most minimal criticism, and has precious little patience for others, determined to dig in her heels to the detriment of herself and those around her. Kajia finds it difficult to genuinely and healthily connect to the world around her, much less to others, including her own children: While she loves them, they are perpetual reminders of their father. Resentment is easy, and she wants to be rid of them, and yet, is intrinsically bound to try and do right and protect her son and daughter. As her age begins to advance, the thought of attempting to seek penance has crossed her mind with increased frequency - whether or not her pride will allow her, however, is yet to be seen. |

Zsorthia was once her closest confidant. They did everything together, shared all they had, teased and joked and laughed and loved - Inseparable, some could say, yet, good things rarely last, and such extended even to this. As much as Kajia loved her sister, she equally resented her success, the things that she achieved, and the life she had begun to forge. Even the depths of this relationship could not survive the pettiness, nor the recklessness of Kajia's brand of toxic comradery.

- Zsorthia and Kajia pierced one another's ears, partly on a dare.
- Kajia was the one who initially uncovered her sister's betrothed's infidelity. Rather than divulge this information up front, she decided to seduce him for herself. She only warned her sister after the fact, and, feeling exceptionally cantankerous and cruel, lead Zsorthia to Azar while he was in the act with his other fling. Zsorthia, naturally, did not take this well. They haven't spoken since.
- While she knows she has done wrong by her sister, a staunchly bitter part of Kajia still resents Zsorthia for leaving, and feels owed something for the trouble (that she herself caused).
Diablo vexes her. Kajia is perpetually haunted by the phantoms of his touch, his presence, the reminders of his existence. Wed to him as a matter of convenience, and the hope that he would bring the wayward Mercedes daughter to heel after Zsorthia's departure, their plan couldn't have gone more poorly. The two of them grew dependent on one another, loathed one another, and exchanged blows and tender touch in equal measure. Kajia had never had a good, learned concept of love, this relationship only warped and tainted it further the more she slipped into survival tactics and bad, destructive habits.

- An older man, he managed to instill much of his conservative mindsets (and his own acts of hypocrisy) into his younger wife with an iron fist; While some of her behaviors were tempered, as her parents had intended, much of this learning was done with negative association and abuse.
- While Diablo was never particularly kind to Vulcan, his bartering for affection with their children helped to drive wedges in the family dynamic, especially when he would shower the children with gifts and use such as ammunition against their mother. Their household was one of continual, insurmountable emotional debts, and Kajia has yet to unlearn this.
- When she'd finally had enough, Kajia gathered the kids and left quietly, abruptly, and on impulse; While the latter was an action which fell into her wheelhouse, she had rarely ever made decisions based purely on fear and adrenaline. While she believes that she has taken Karizma and Vulcan from the home out of spite, she has done so more in an unconscious attempt to protect them from their father. She refuses to speak of that night, and loathes the weakness of that moment, but regards it as the best decision she's ever made.
Karizma and Vulcan are near and dear to her. They are also a reminder of her greatest failures, her biggest regrets - each time Kajia looks to her children, she sees Diablo in them, and herself. She's convinced that she wants to be rid of the troublesome duo, yet can't bring herself to let go of the siblings, and regularly undermines their independence to keep the two of them close. It's an unhealthy balance - a mother's desire to keep her children in her life contests her desire to cut loose and begin fresh. Her frustration with them is well known, though as they've grown, they've come to challenge her. She never wants them out of her sight. She wants to wring their necks. She wants them to succeed, wants to be close to that which is a part of her, wants to learn to communicate, yet she stands in her own way at every opportunity.

- Kajia regularly butts heads with Karizma and Vulcan - though certainly does so more often with her son. Whether or not she recognizes that he is stepping in to take the brunt of her ire to protect his sister is unclear.
- She allows herself vulnerability with her children when they are not aware of it (like when they're sleeping, or out of earshot) - yet will vehemently deny her own tenderness and undercut any affection with insults.
- No matter how much she may resent them, Kajia would move mountains for her children, and remove them from whatever danger that would threaten them. She knows she's failed them when it comes to protecting them from adversity, or from terrors of abuse, and knows she's to blame for inflicting harm of her own onto them. It's because of this that she denies herself softness with them; She does not deserve, and has not earned, the right to say she loves them.

A dark bay mare of middling size and weight; Galila's sleek and well-groomed coat possesses varnish roan and blanket markings alongside the litany of spots, and the spread of white hair extends to the top of her tail and dilutes a pale gray frame around her dark face. Her large eyes are expressive, and a sparse smattering of pink freckles line her lips. While she's too small to carry Kajia, she's readily utilized as a pack horse. Galila is night-blind.
Highly food motivated. Friendly, but somewhat lazy - Galila is an unhurried horse who seems to prefer being lavished in attention over participating in work. Whilst amicable, her more easy-going nature makes her something of a pushover when interacting with other horses; more high-strung individuals (luperci, horses, or otherwise) distress her. Kajia definitely spoils her. |
