Dale's Adoptable #28

This character is open to adoption under a Relaxed Permanent Contract. You have free reign to choose, edit and modify any of the traits listed here, or even the design of the character itself. Once you claim the character as yours, it's yours, and you are free to put them up for adoption to someone else at any time. If not, you may drop, kill them off, or NPC them as you please. All I ask for is a vague outline of what you plan to do with this character so I can pick a good first fit. A Kiritar template has been provided as inspiration for a face to this character, but it's up to you whether you color the template or use something else.

If interested, please contact Dale via PM on their OOC Dale account.

OOC Information

General

Personality

This character is energetic, passionate and involved with whatever community they find themselves in. They are positively sunny and full of enthusiasm, eager to take on the day's challenges. Change is nothing they fear, for they desire to be in the heart of things and the heat of the moment. This said, they have a level head on their shoulders, and put a lot of thought into their actions and starting on anything new. They are flexible and objective, able to adapt on a whim, and give the impression they are absolutely fearless. Any negativity they have is usually ignored, set aside or even repressed, sometimes to the point of unhealthily bottling up their emotions. They have a strong need to see order in a world of chaos, but are not so naive to think that such chaos can be snuffed out entirely. Reliability and trustworthiness are important to this character, as is caring for the needs of friends and family. Overall, they are an advocate for stability and reason, can brighten up one's day if one lets them, and thoughtfully consider whatever they say and do.

This character, if they had a D&D alignment, would be Lawful Good. From to least importantly, they believe that they:

  • Shall not betray others, for betrayal is a vile and reprehensible act
  • Shall follow the law, because a good life lived is a lawful life lived
  • Shall not steal, but may be tempted to in times of crisis or absolute need
  • Shall bring criminals and evil-doers to justice, but may not always be able to do so
  • Shall seek unlimited good and order for those in society, but depending on one's living situation, this may be impossible to do

In regards to their alignment and their behavior, they are, from most to least likely, to:

  • Respect their family's authority figures and obey them, as their words guide this character's actions
  • Would never betray friends and enjoys having close ones, being a community-oriented character
  • Believes everyone should have fair and kind treatment, but may subconsciously favor some over others due to biases
  • Supports the legal procedures of their nation, but would voice any hesitations, confusion or discomforts about decisions made
  • Give their life in defense of their community, as they would be very hesitant and possibly fear dying

Possible Character Names

This is, by no means, an exhaustive list. They're simply ideas for an adopter to look at if they can't think of a name they like for this character.

Male

  • Androkles: Greek name meaning "glory of a man"; a famous bearer of this name pulled a thorn from a lion's paw in Aesop's stories.
  • Dalibor: A Slavic name that roughly means "to fight distantly" or "distant fight".
  • Jamir: An invented male name, possibly influenced by names such as Jamil.

Female

  • Eilanna: Created using a D&D elf name generator, it means "blue daughter" or "azure daughter".
  • Purnima: A Sanskrit name meaning "full moon".
  • Seldë: An Elvish word meaning "daughter" or "girl-child", created for J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings universe.

Gender-Neutral

  • Hoarfrost: A type of frost that resembles needles, forming on objects outdoors when the temperature is very cold.
  • Lauwine: An English poetic term for an avalanche.
  • Moonfall: The setting of the Moon in the sky; to land on the Moon.

Talents and Faults

To help flesh out a potential path for this character, a selection of randomized strengths and weaknesses has been made using Joe Larsen's Character Faults and Talents system. These are only suggestions for this character, and you are free to use, retcon, modify, or disregard these ideas as you please.

Talents:

  • Intimidating Voice: This character has a terrifying voice, bark and/or howl, and can frighten others easily with it. It is useful for driving out prey or scaring away pests or intruders.
  • Resistant to Cold: This character is tolerant of the cold. Whereas others might be bothered by frigid temperatures, this character does well and may even thrive in them. There is a limit to this ability, however - a character may still become hypothermic or frostbitten if caught in the right circumstances.

Faults:

  • Unpleasant Smell: This character has an unpleasant odor to their person. It may be the result of poor hygiene, something the character likes to roll in, or the character naturally having a stink to them. It can be covered up by soaps, oils and other scents, but the effectiveness of such products may vary or even not work. They may be easier to track due to their smell, and others may find it hard to stand around them.
  • Minor Silver Allergy: Like the werewolves of old, this character is allergic to silver. Unlike the werewolves of old, the reaction is more a form of contact dermatitis. Inhaling silver - such as inhaling the dust off silver ore in a mine - may cause a considerable allergic response, but not severe enough to be anaphylactic.

History

This character never knew their father growing up. In his place, their paternal and/or maternal grandfather took on a parenting role, and it's to them that this character was the closest. Other females in their family - save their mother, who they were friendly with - had a strained relationship with this character for whatever reason. There may also have been some siblings that disappeared or died early in this character's life, leaving a sense of longing and grief that sticks with this character to this day. Because of this, they may try to fill the void with friendships or relationships of numerous types, though they were raised conservatively and aren't open to "unconventional" relationships. (Surrogacy, polyamory, etc.) They also develop bonds with male/male-identifying individuals more easily than females.

There are a number of open territories you can use as a place of origin for this character, or create backstory and ties to. Good examples for this particular character include Chesapeake Bay, Portland, St. Petersburg, and Warsaw. The on-board settlement of Freetown may also be a good option.
