1.  Appearance

If caught under the bright light of the sun Ronit is a stunning hue of rose gold. Seen clearly her coat is a dusky color, darkening at the muzzle. She sports the close fur of a dingo with a bushy tail that has a white point at the end. Notably for white points there is a white spot under her chin, along her underside, wrapped elegantly around her left wrist, at the tip of her tail and on her neck. As a New Guinea Singing Dog (Singer) her canine form is less than fifteen inches at the shoulder. At such a size it could be easy for others to underestimate her. Despite being born to this form Ronit must feel very secure with another canine to be found in her Lupine form.

In Ronit's Secui form, favored when dealing with larger canines, her body nearly doubles its size bringing her to twenty-four inches at the shoulder. Her form still maintains its squarish qualities. It is longer than it is tall, has a solid neck, a blunted nose, a wide skull and a square jaw. Limbs already flexible enough to do some climbing increase this feature such that she has a nearly catlike affinity for the luxury of lofted places. Her ruff lengthens, red with one wild white patch. Since most canines are larger than her Ronit spends the most time in her Secui form.

During all three forms Ronit's almond eyes remain a bright amber with wide pupils and a canny intelligence. The shine from these eyes, caught at night, is a luminescent green. In her Optime form these eyes seem gentled by the suggestion of flow from her mane and the subtle curves of a humanoid form. Ronit's neck is still strong and her body compact. She's abnormally short among other species of Luperci at only four feet and nine inches tall. Her hands are graceful with their bangle of white, the patch in her mane drawing attention. Unlike many European Luperci Ronit does not usually adorn herself. Indeed, Ronit has shunned such ornamentation as jewelry, but has reason to consider clothing since her fur is short, never meant for such weather. Those that look closely may notice her pricked ears were pierced at one time, but the holes have neatly closed. Ronit's usual concession to the humanoid fashion is occasionally tying her mane or braiding it so that it's kept out of her way.

In mannerisms Ronit holds herself proudly. She shows submission by lowering her ears below her skull so that each stretch out to either side of her head like pathetic bits of wet triangular laundry on an invisible line. Sclera shows at the edges of her eyes as she submits, as she does not meet others' eyes too brazenly. Like other Singers, Ronit does not play bow and cannot fold her ears tight against her skull. Nor do Singers show a full submissive grin. Her voice hints at the double tone to her singing. Her words are simple and her grammar sometimes subtly out of whack, but her accent is complex, strongly influenced by Turkish and Portuguese. It's pretty, but strange.

2.  Personality

Despite Ronit's proud demeanor there are times it's obvious she sees herself as damaged. This feeling gives her a thirst to prove herself so that she is no longer the bottom of the pack. While proving herself through strength does not seem a likely route for Ronit, she might yet prove herself through her strange music and her intelligence, especially her ability to learn languages. Ronit applies herself wholly to what she chooses to accomplish. She could make a dedicated scholar or a superb artist given time to flourish. She might also learn other trades under the right tutelage.

One of Ronit's greatest weaknesses is that she underestimates things due to tradition, disdain or because it is something she's afraid to try. Some examples of this are the fact that Ronit has no interest in Low-Speech and has barely any respect for non-canine companions. She sees the use of most farm animals, but not things like cats or weasels or other pets. Therefore she does not feel an emotional attachment to any non-canine. While it should be possible for her to speak to other intelligent creatures, she rarely deigns to do so.

Another quirk which can be difficult is Ronit's need to occasionally isolate herself. Especially when she's in heat she might be aggressive, particularly towards other females. Her snapping and snarling at them might lose her any place she'd earned in Luperci society. So, when she's struggling, Ronit keeps an aloof attitude.

On the other hand, when Ronit is happy she is a joy to be around. Ronit enjoys telling embellished stories from her travels. Generally she favors funny stories, sometimes interspersed with romantic ones. Most of her stories aren't highly personal, just snippets she has picked up form her journey. Whether they're just as they were told her or she has improvised them is something the listener needs to decide on their own.

How promiscuous are they? Are they monogamous or polygamous? How do they go about obtaining sexual partners (are they a nervous approacher, or a giant flirt)?

6.  History

At the heels of her mother and the jackal "Prophet" that spoke of an awakened Eurasia ripe with opportunity Ronit left New Guinea behind before she was five months old. The troubles that haunted Ronit's mother on that island were barely comprehensible to her two living pups, but her fear and longing began their sojourn. When the Prophet led them to a boat and paused before beginning until he had shifted into a form that cast a two-legged shadow, Ronit was impressed. This was the first Luperci she had ever seen. He and one other Luperci that had stayed with the boat and already recruited canines sailed back to the mainland of Eastern Europe. The pack had a home territory within a day's travel of Istanbul, Turkey.

A pack felt claustrophobic to Ronit then. There were so many members above her small family. Her mother and brother showed signs of stress, too. Singers were not normally stuck to one den and did not normally dally with more than one or two other singers. Ronit's mother, Lyri, became distant and began attacking Ronit sporadically. Lyri became a fully fledged member of the pack by becoming a Luperci. Ronit's brother, Jerome, fearing this change, drew back from the pack as best he could. He was viewed as the lowest member for his judgment of others and took the brunt of their leaders' spiritually fueled beatings trying to exorcise him of the demon of fear. In less than the two months from their homeland both pups were alone in an unfamiliar and hostile setting.

When Ronit was seven months old she was brought into the pack via a ritual: All the privileged males, including the Prophet, mated themselves to her. Soon after she felt the powerful urge to shift and knew what they had done to her. During that month the increasing aggression between Jerome towards other males of the pack meant he needed to leave. Ronit was left wondering where her family had scattered to. She hardly ever saw her mother and when she did she felt anger and rage well up uncontrollably towards the other female, but always found herself pinned first by the other's aggression towards her own daughter. It was only Luperci intelligence that kept some of the natural same gender fighting at bay. Acting out too strongly within the pack would get the two littler canines punished. To make this harder Ronit was inducted into the Prophet's personal harem; she was an exotic creature for his menagerie. Ronit was at the bottom of this little clique and was frequenly beaten. On her own Ronit may never have gotten up the motivation for leaving. One of his queens physically dragged Ronit over the border one night and would not allow her to return.

From there Ronit almost starved. However, she met a Portuguese trader that could use her for menial tasks such as modelling clothing and keeping inventory. She taught Ronit to read. Several times she almost left Ronit due to Ronit's natural friction with her. Many times Ronit needed to be taught to submit. Language was even more difficult. The trader knew many languages and was the one that began Ronit learning English. It was clear that Ronit was uncomfortable in Europe and the trader sent goods across to the New World occasionally. It occurred to her that Ronit might be more comfortable there. At first Ronit resisted as she knew her brother was still somewhere out there. However, she felt unworthy of finding him. She was far too lost and confused. She didn't know herself. Finally, she agreed.

In the new world Ronit unloaded the last of her human-relic goods, as she thought of them, in Freetown. She had a horse, but traded her as well for food. While Ronit had ridden when necessary she found most human things made her feel uncomfortable. Already she had lost her native tongue and the fixed form she had thought would always be her only form. Ronit could admit the usefulness of horses, but she chose to walk North towards Souls as that was how she felt she could start her life over again. Ronit tried to enter this very distant place without burden.
