Keabetswe

Keabetswe is a dog from Southern Africa, where she lived as a princess in her tribe until a local gang of jackals raided her home and enslaved much of her family. To keep her safe, an old Buddhist jackal who had been living peacefully with the tribesmen assumed guardianship over her and took her away from her tribe and the fate of her family.

Considered an exile now, Keabetswe has moved from place to place with Chetan, learning meditation and angampora along the way, until their travels took them to the borders of Krokar in the autumn of 2017. Though it was their intention to only stay through the winter, Chetan fell ill and passed away that winter, leaving Keabetswe with no other home. Since Krokar was the last familiar thing she had left, she chose to stay in the pack, where she continued her lessons and training with another of Chetan's students.

Once harboring considerable amounts of guilt for running away during her family's demise, an emotion that often manifested itself as anger and irritability, Keabetswe has learned to quell some of these negative feelings through daily meditations and training angampora with Bramble and, though she can still certainly come off abrasive and impulsive at times, she has grown into a measured, observant, and respectable young woman. After Krokar disbanded, she remained with the Cormier-Parhelion family and became a part of their small loner band, The Shoal, until it, too, dispersed.

Having long felt the need to return to her home in southern Africa, Keabetswe decided to heed the call of her tribe and, in the summer of 2019, she began the long and treacherous journey home.

Overview Species: Keabetswe is very obviously all dog. She has large ears, a long, sickle-shaped tail, and a delicate, tapered snout. Her hair coat is short, harsh, and not well-suited for cold Canadian winters. Optime Hair: Straight and harsh, not unlike her coat. She often keeps it cropped short and covered in a head wrap. Facial Features: Betsy has a delicate muzzle that tapers gently down from a sloping stop. Her eyes are round and her cheeks are well-defined. Build and Size: Despite being structurally balanced and well-muscled, Keabetswe's smaller stature, willowy torso, and thin, delicate neck make her look almost fragile.
