Naji is a woman built on strength and tradition. She was born amongst the ‘Shams,’ a nomadic desert tribe as old as ‘the beginning of all things.’
Naji has one surviving daughter, Nishat, who after developing an intense fever as a child went blind. She is dedicated to ensuring her daughters safety at all times, and is ferociously protective of her, sometimes to the extreme. The woman is a proud creature despite her difficult start in life, and though she is not a warrior, she is a more than capable hunter and an expert with her bow. Naji is aloof to strangers, and places strong emphasis on the relationships that create a sense of community.
She is known for her dark sense of humor, and the low chuckle that rumbles deep in her throat when she is amused. Naji is riddled with scars; silvery crescents on her hands, and short clipped markings along her jaw and lips.
After being released from slavery by Tiamat Amaranthe, Naji pledged her allegiance to the woman, discarding her last name in a show of fealty to her savior.

5. History
Naji grew up as an only child with a quiet mother, who believed in giving her daughter her independence. As a single mother, Halu believed deeply in passing down the traditions of her people, and allowed Naji to wander amongst the tribe’s other children to learn what it mean to barter and trade. The Bedouin children were industrious, and Naji grew up happily beneath the scorching heat of the desert sun.
For most of her childhood the nomads lived in peace; raising camels and horses and learning from one another – following the call of the desert where it told them to go.
Naji lived most of her life in this way - taking up training with her bow. Naji is a formidable hunter, eager to provide for her family - and loyal to a fault for those who are marked as a part of her tribe. She brought two cubs into the world and raised them alone, little Nit and Nishat capturing her entire heart. She meets Tiamat Amaranthe and her companion Laevisa Arena - accepting them into their fold beneath the careful watch of their leader. They trade stories, Nishat taking a liking to the new women, eager to commit their travels to memory.
In the summer of 2017 Arena Traders from Onuba come and launch a war upon their camp - murdering some of her tribe as they captured others with the intention of selling them into slavery. Nit perished during capture, and Naji was left alone with her daughter, and forced to give in to the demands in an effort to keep her surviving child safe. Even as hostages Naji takes care of others - ensuring that everyone is watered and fed beneath the heavy scrutiny of the Arena Traders.
It is only when Tiamat Amaranthe returns that they are allowed their freedom - a catastrophic battle taking place as other Bedouins rise up against the captors. Naji is separated from her daughter for a time - but they are reunited once the fighting dies down.
