Hans Doran

Hans Doran (HAHN-sss doh-RAHN) is a Loner.

He was born alongside his twin brother, Ivo, to Alena Alink and Marcel Doran in southeastern Germany. Their mother was a skilled combatant, their father, a talented woodworker, and their knowledge was passed to the boys as they grew of age. The twins' early childhood was rather normal, though, they saw their fair share of skirmishes and conflicts as tensions between their home pack and a neighboring one grew with each passing season. With whispers of war growing ever-louder, their mother pre-emptively started training the boys in the art of combat. When not performing their drills or participating in strategy games with their mother, Ivo and Hans helped their father with his work. With their thoughts honed for combat, however, the boys were often more focused on crafting new weaponry, defenses, and the like.

Trips and scouting missions made through human ruins sparked ideas in their young minds, and it wasn't long before the brothers began focusing on prototypes of what they'd seen, and lesser still before they started performing tests. They learned just as much with each failure as they did with each success. It was a weapon that they were sure would change the tide of battle.

However, the new weapon was still in its early stages when war finally broke out between the packs. The brothers were thrust into the thick of combat, their packmates too skeptical to risk testing something so foreign and untraditional to what they were used to. Ivo and Hans tried to convince the veteran fighters and leaders to use their weapon, but, they refused time and time again. Eventually, fueled by their confidence, the twins decided to act on their own. With those loyal to them, they deployed their prototype, and, while it had many errors and malfunctions, the destructive power it wrought was enough to bring fear in their enemies. The war ended swiftly afterwards, and their pack saw itself as the victor.

Years drew by, and more conflicts followed as the pack grew and expanded its reach and influence. Ivo and Hans became a renowned duo, and their weapon only grew more accurate and formidable with each new build. However, victory was not always assured, and not even the twins' weapon could save their pack when they finally found themselves bested by another. The brothers were forced to flee their homeland.

Without a home, they made the most of their travels through obtaining work as sellswords and carpenters. Eventually, they ended up in Canada, and a new allegiance and job sent them eastward.

It is without question that Hans is wolf or a wolf-dominate hybrid from his size and looks alone. There are small subtleties of his dog heritage that are present, however. His face is not as broad as a it should be, nor are his paws as large. As far as height and weight are concerned though, Hans stands within the average range for a wolf. He has a healthy weight to him and a sturdy, solid build. In Optime, he is notably muscular—but is not overly large, mind you—from his work and talents in woodworking and construction. He has toned arms, broad shoulders, and a well-defined torso. He is surprisingly more agile and graceful than one might expect of his size, something that is attributed to his talents as a fighter and swordsman.

Hans primarily remains in his Optime form due to his hobbies and talents that require the work his hands. His mane is kept trimmed and naturally short, making him look the same as he would in one of his lesser forms. His Lupus form is often used for hunting, traveling quickly between distances, or for scout work. Secui, he uses only when tasked as an ambusher during hunts.

He has a few miscellaneous scars. He wears leather armor, and carries his axe at his side.

Personality

While not submissive to his twin brother, Hans often defers to Ivo's leadership and decision-making. He is loyal and trusts his brother's judgement, and is his number one supporter through thick and thin. Like his twin, he has a sharp intellect, and is perceptive of the world around him. His opinions on strategy are welcomed by Ivo, even if they may not agree one-hundred percent of the time. Having differences in ideas, after all, can help ensure that things are not overlooked or missed. Where Ivo is a particularly talented tactician, Hans' greatest strength lies in his crafting abilities. He has a creative mind and a skillful hand with drawing out blueprints of projects that help make the twins' ideas a reality.

While he does maintain a familiar poise and calmness to him that the Doran twins are known for, Hans is known to be the aggressive brother of the two. Of the pair, Hans is also the more talkative, even if his words are often a bit crass and are painfully blunt.
