1.  Summary

Bluebell's life growing up was not particularly easy and she eventually fled her pack, taking supplies with her, along with her horse and her cat. Her pack sent trackers after her, attempting to retrieve what they considered to be their property, which included Bluebell herself. With some help, she evaded capture and traveled with her new companions to Portland, then on toward Del Cenere Gang's territory.

She is a talented potter, able to create sealable containers and kiln-fired bricks. She also has a horse and a cat.

Bluebell is currently traveling through Souls.

2.  Appearance

2.1  Basics

Essentials

  • Species: Bluebell's coyote heritage is obvious in her overall shape and pointy features, but her fur is a bit longer than expected thanks to her dog heritage.
  • Fur: Thick and fluffy, especially around her neck. It's made mostly of warm gray tones
    • Optime Hair: She keeps her hair long and usually in a braid. Its color follows that of her fur, with a cream streak from her forehead and lighter gray with a darker gray underlayer
  • Facial Features: Her ears are large with a slight bend at the top. Sometimes they stand up completely, either one at a time or both at once
  • Build and Size: Bluebell is about average size for a coyote
    • Lupus: 40 lbs lbs (18 kg) – 24 in (61 cm)
    • Secui: 125 lbs (56 kg) – 40 in (101 cm)
    • Optime: 150 lbs (68 kg) – 5ft 6in (66 in / 167 cm)
  • Humanization: Bluebell is highly humanized and often wears a blue dress over a whiteish shirt, or that same shirt with blue pants. She also enjoys jewelry.

3.  Personality

3.1  Overview

Bluebell tends to act braver than she is, largely out of necessity. Truthfully, she's spent a lot of her time in recent months cared out of her wits. This fear is sometimes hidden behind snappy words and an overdone streak of independence. Most of this is a show, though, and only driven by situational insecurity; once she's comfortable, she's kind and pleasant.

As part of a pack, she's a hard worker, happy to create wares for the good of the pack alongside the ones she's making for her own gain. Bluebell also likes to teach and give small gifts to those she calls friends. Part of this hard work and giving stems from a fear of being punished. If she’s gained favor with others, maybe they’ll go easy on her. Punishments in her birth pack were swift and harsh, and while Bluebell knows that this isn’t how it’s done in a lot of places, the insecurity and responses to it are deeply ingrained even if she tries to hide the most visible reactions as much as she can. The most obvious outward reaction to this trauma is that she may shut down and retreat to her home.

Bluebell enjoys being creative, and while much of her claymaking skills are geared toward utility, she likes to make her pottery pretty whenever she can. She is also interested in learning new techniques from anyone willing to show her what they know.

3.3  Skills

Note: Listed skills are those that the character has some significant talent or interest in to be noteworthy. Skills that have been mastered (and are best expressed as such) are marked.

Main Focus: Claymaking

Pottery (Master)

Even before shifting, Bluebell was interested in the process of making pottery. She helped collect clay and other materials as she could, learned about how things were made in theory, and once she shifted, she immediately began practicing under the guidance of a teacher. She can make many different useful things, like plates and cups, along with sealable containers. Some are more decorative than others, depending on their purpose and who they're for.

Kiln-fired Bricks (Journeyman)

Along with creating pottery, Bluebell began learning how to create bricks to use for building. It was more difficult for her to learn, and less interesting because she was more interested in the decoration aspect of making pottery. She understood the utility and importance, though, so she persisted.

Kiln Building (Journeyman)

Another aspect of Bluebell's training included how to make a couple of types of kilns based on materials that were available to her. She helped build several kilns in her birth pack.

Auxiliary Skills and Hobbies

Horsemanship

When Bluebell gained ownership of her horse, Periwinkle, she was taught basic care and riding skills. This doesn't include training a horse from scratch or advanced wound care. For that she would need more help. She enjoys taking care of Peri and riding her.

Reading & Writing

Everyone in Bluebell's birth pack was taught to read and write. Basic reading skills began before shifting, and much of it was geared towards the pack's beliefs and what her role should be. Writing came later, and all the pups were taught in groups divided by gender. Bluebell read as much as she could, and now that she has the freedom to read whatever she wants, she tries to find as many books as she can.

Sewing

Being able to meand her own clothes was a useful skill to have, so Bluebell learned enough to do that. She can't make anything advanced, but at least her things don't have holes in them.

4.  History

4.1  Overview

Pre-Souls

Bluebell grew up in a strict pack in the midwest with a heavy expectation of obedience, especially from female pack members. There were harsh punishments for even small transgressions, and she was no exception. Bluebell was never comfortable with what they were doing, but she was too afraid to say anything against it.

As soon as she had shifted, Bluebell was given her assigned role in the pack. From artisans in her family, Bluebell learned to make pottery, including sealable containers, as well as kiln-fired bricks. They also taught her how to fire pottery in several ways, including in a kiln made of stone, and using a fire pit kiln. The techniques had been refined over previous generations and still improving. Despite not having a choice in her job, Bluebell thankfully enjoyed making pottery, as well as the side effect of keeping her busy and on her pack's good side. She was constantly afraid of somehow doing something that might anger the leaders.

What she made eventually allowed her to acquire a horse from the communal livestock. She chose one that was on the road to becoming a meal--a cranky (bitey) mare that Bluebell eventually befriended with a large amount of bribery in the form of carrots. The horse was trained for riding already but had also been mistreated. Bluebell learned enough horse care to take care of the mare's needs. She also gained the friendship of a large, fluffy, orange-striped tomcat.

When she was around 2.5 years old, she was allowed to join a few family members who were going to visit a couple of nearby packs to try to trade their wares. It was then that she discovered that how her pack did things was not normal. Not only that, they were downright abusive and she wanted out. The pack's leadership thought that she was indoctrinated enough in their ways that she would look down upon how others lived, but it wasn't the case.

The thought of leaving was terrifying. In the past, other pack members had attempted to leave with varying results, and Bluebell had witnessed the results of those who were brought back. Yet, she couldn't stay. What finally spurred her on was a pack member's death for something that definitely did not warrant the sentence.

Bluebell made her plans. Late one night, she waited until her parents were asleep and gathered a few things from her room. She also took supplies from the communal storage, including an extra blanket. some food, bags, and a few wares to try to trade while she was on her own. While she wanted to bring pottery supplies, she knew that it was largely pointless; it would be a while before she could make anything, if she ever could again. Still, she couldn't bring herself to leave her personal tools behind, so she packed those as well. Then she left with her horse and cat.

After putting as much distance as she could between herself and her family, she knew she was going to need a little help. She was so tired and had no experience making it on her own. Thankfully it was summer, so her horse could graze when they rested. Bluebell took a risk, offering a small band of loners she came across some of her goods in exchange for protection. Unfortunately, they had been sent by her family to collect their property, which included her, too. The loners turned on her and she fought back as well as she could. In the end, she was saved by Ximeno. After the loners had betrayed her, she didn't trust him, either. With good reason--he had also been sent after her. Instead of taking her back, Ximeno joined her travels. By not completing the capture, he was now a target of her family, too. Bluebell kept him at arms' length for a while, and as much as she didn't want to admit it, she did need his help.

While they were traveling, they eventually came across Aliso Giftbloom, also known as Bobo, who joined them as well. They stopped in Portland for a bit, where they came across Del Cenere Gang's Palisade. The three of them decided they'd like to join the pack and headed towards the territory.
