Personality |
Benito is best described as aloof, judgmental, thoughtful, and curious. He scrutinizes everything in detail before he goes ahead with a decision, and exercises more than a degree of caution with others. Despite being an introvert, he sees himself as a researcher, eager to gather information from those willing to part with it. Furthering his studies and his writings is of utmost importance to him, and he places a high value on intellectualism and those of cunning minds. Brute strength and brutality are distasteful to Benito, but he also can see the value of having some muscle on your side. Benito has a strict code of conduct that might be stifling to some, but finds it is the best approach in life. He respects local boundaries and claims by Salsola, and doesn't trespass in places where other loners have set up camp. He is possessive and protective of his own space, and doesn't appreciate uninvited guests unless they have something of value. He prefers to stay out of petty squabbles and local politicking, making himself somewhat of a hermit in the process. Benito is very much someone that has to be sought out, and beyond business deals, he rarely is the first to initiate interactions. |

History
Benito is a native of the Amherst area of 'Souls, having been born in the woods just outside the city's borders. He was raised by strict parents of semi-moderate humanization, and wanted for little in his childhood. His father and mother were very literate, and often worked on recording things down for other Luperci. He was taught to read and write on birchbark scrolls, and even how to bind them together with awl-punched holes and leather twine. These crude "books", containing knowledge of the local area and its flora and fauna, were often traded to others by his family. Despite the literacy of his family, Benito was taught to be no slouch in matters of survival. He learned to hunt as well as he could scribe, and often roamed the Amherst area on all fours. The young man would wander close to Salsolan borders, ever curious of the secretive pack. Though he didn't dare trespass or come too close to their boundaries, his mind was full of wild daydreams about what the strange pack might be like. Then he grew a little older, became more serious, and devoted his time to scroll-making rather than wandering the ancient ruins. Benito now lives in a modest, ruined house out on the edge of the Amherst area. Situated snugly between the forest and the old town, he has fixed up the place as best as his (somewhat haphazard) carpentry skills will allow. From there he continues to inscribe information on birchbark, selling his collections to those passing by in exchange for other goods. |
