1.  Description

These smaller canines bear similarities to the larger canines such as wolves and coyotes, but they are much smaller. Foxes cannot interbreed with Canis subspecies (e.g., wolves, jackals, and coyotes) despite their superficially similar appearance.

1.1  Types

1.2  Gray Fox (Urocyon cinereoargenteus)

A silver-ash fox, typically weighs 3.6 to 7 kg (7.9 to 15 lb). It climbs trees to escape predation. Fruit is an important component of the diet of the gray fox and they seek whatever fruits are readily available, generally eating more vegetable matter than the Red Fox..

1.3  Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes)

Red foxes are the larger by far, weighing 2.2 to 14 kg (4.9 to 31 lb). There are three main colour morphs; red, silver/black and cross. Silver/black may be confused for the Gray Fox, but it is unlikely. These foxes are rarer within 'Souls territories, usually dominated by their larger cousin species.

  • American Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes fulvus): This is a smaller subspecies than V. v. vulpes, with a smaller, sharper face, a shorter tail and a lighter pelt more profusely mixed with whitish, and darker limbs.
  • Nova Scotia Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes rubricosa): A large sized subspecies with a large, broad tail and larger teeth and rostrum than V. vulpes fulva, it is the deepest-coloured form.

2.  Speech

According to our Speech Guide, this creature speaks High Speech naturally. It is therefore able to communicate with Luperci -- however, keep in mind that speech can be complicated by differences in vocal sounds (e.g., a Whale will sound much different from a Bear, even when both are speaking high speech).

3.  Uses

The winter fur is dense, soft, silky and relatively long. There are various color morphs of the fox.
