Ranks are the way your character is titled in the pack. Higher ranks denote higher respect and responsibility within the pack; lower ranks denote canines of lesser status. Although dominance and submission is not typically present within Midnight Shores, respect is still expected between ranks.

Trivia: Our ranks are based on the names of stars!

1.  Rank Advancement

Advancement through the ranks is primarily based on posting activity, although IC behavior is also factored in. Once every month, there is a rank shuffle where characters are either promoted, demoted, or left in their current rank. A general posting guideline can be seen below. "Poor" may indicate demotion, "average" may indicate maintaining a rank, and "good" and "excellent" may indicate promotion. Do note, however, that post counts alone do not guarantee promotion!

Poor: 0 – 6 posts per month Average: 7 – 12 posts per month Good: 13 – 16 posts per month Excellent: 17+ posts per month

2.  Ranks

2.1  Leadership

Centauri

The Centauri is the leadership of the pack. They have the final say in pack decisions, diplomatic decisions, and conflicts. They are also the highest in command when in war.

Arcturus

The Arcturus is the sub-leader of the pack. They assist the Centauri in decision-making, and act as the functional leadership if the Centauri are away.

2.2  Membership

Antares

The Antares assists the leadership in any way he or she can. He or she assumes the responsibilities of both the Hyades and the Procyon, and can collaborate with the leadership as well.

  • Your character must have a co-rank to be promoted to this rank.

Hyades

Procyon

The Hyades rank is held by some of the long-standing members of the pack who contribute a lot, and frequently. They are near the top of the ranks, and know almost all of the pack’s members. They are better at dealing with protective duties (fighting in battle, patrolling the borders, teaching others to fight, etc.)

  • Your character must have a co-rank to be promoted to this rank.

The Procyon rank is held by some of the long-standing members of the pack who contribute a lot, and frequently. They are near the top of the ranks, and know almost all of the pack’s members. They are better at dealing with social duties (pack hunts, trade trips, diplomatic missions, etc.)

  • Your character must have a co-rank to be promoted to this rank.

Polaris

The Polaris rank is held by long-standing members of the pack who contribute much and often. They are near the top of the ranks save for the Leadership, and know almost all of the pack’s members.

  • Your character must have a co-rank to be promoted to this rank.

Cygnus

Canines in the Cygnus rank are well-known and have a positive presence in the pack. They are encouraged to help the Council with pack projects and continue doing good work in the pack.

Spica

The Spica rank is held by members who are more well-versed in the pack and know many of its members. They are encouraged to take co-ranks, contribute, and have a steady presence in the pack.

Cepheus

Upon promotion from the Pollux rank, members are placed in the Cepheus rank. Members of this rank have heightened duties, but are still not in a high position of power.

Pollux

The Pollux rank is for new recruits of the pack, those who must prove their worth to the rest of the pack, or those who are not seen very often.

Gliese

The Gliese rank is reserved for puppies, elders, and invalids.

Caelum

The Caelum rank is reserved for NPCs of the pack. ICly, it is equivalent to the beginner-to-middling ranks.
