Territory Map

Krokaran packlands encompassed the northeast side of the River of Fire area and the eastern loop of Saint John's Chokehold. Their territory was home to several tributaries, an island, and two lakes, which were the main landmarks. Surrounding the lakes is dense forest that stretches north and west. On the sandy shore of Sister Lake was Fiskebyn, the Krokar village and Aster's Fields, which served as grazing for the livestock.

Fiskebyn was a grouping of old human cottages mixed with new Luperci-made buildings. Krokarans took up residence here, although some chose to live in other parts of the territory. Fiskebyn was a convenient distance away from the stables, barn, and chicken coop.

Old remnants of human activity are slowly being reclaimed by the land, but the city of Elsipogtog, known in Krokar as the Ruins of Tog, still exists in the form of crumbling buildings. Surrounding the Ruins of Tog is what used to be farmland, which is now also overgrown and starting to be reclaimed by the forest. The Miramichi Wilderness made up the eastern part of the territory, which consists of forests and fields, while The Murkwood flanked their territory to the west.

Watchtowers were erected around the perimeter of the territory, with the Central Watchtower once used as a roost for the pack's birds.


In the spring of 2016, a giant meteor crashed offshore of Nova Scotia and remarkably altered the landscape. Sister Lake and Black Lake expanded significantly, while the Miramichi Watershed became a much more heavily flooded area.

The following year, in the spring of 2017, the Captains shifted the territory from the south to the west, making use of the eastern loop of St. John's Chokehold to add more area in which Krokarans could fish.

Then, in the autumn of 2018, an act of arson by a group of loners ignited Fiskebyn and Aster's Fields in flames that left the village unlivable. This, combined with other factors, lead to Krokar's disbandment on October 31st, 2018.


Fiskebyn - The Fisherman's Village

This little village, once called Fiskebyn by its former inhabitants, sits on the sandy south shore of Sister Lake. Once a cozy and peaceful commune, with a mixture of human-built cottages and Luperci-made cabins, it is obvious by anyone visiting it now that something tragic has taken place here. Black scars, evidence of a terrible fire, are present on every home, as well as many of the trees that once offered them protection and shade. Though most have collapsed into piles of charred debris, what few cottages and cabins remain standing are burned beyond use or repair.

Located at the north end of the fields close to the village are a stable and a barn, attached to which was a chicken coop and a storage shed. Both of these structures, too, are charred husks of their former selves.

Although it was once cleared, the forest has begun to reclaim the area here, and trees dot the area between the charred houses. To the north on the beach is a fire pit where pack meetings were held. Just south of the village are the ruined stables, and to the west the forest grows denser where the caribou once lived.

Broken Bifrost

Fiskö - The Fisherman's Island

Not a bridge in truth, but it is an old mill that is nearly ready to collapse into the small lake it has formed, and the water has long been spilling over the causeway, evoking a soothing sound. There are plenty of fish and freshwater crawfish to be found at the base of the wall. Because fish sometimes fall over the causeway, it can be a good place to set up a fishing trap. Because the little lake is fed by a narrow tributary meandering off the southern shore of Moosehead Lake, where River Dog Island sits, the Broken Bifrost is frequented by otters as well. In the spring and summer, wildflowers are rampant near around the derelict mill and the little lake, making it a beautiful site to visit. (Created by Gen during Krokar's territory contest)

Fiskö — meaning "the fisherman's island" in Swedish — is a small island located on Moosehead Lake just off the shore of Krokar's northwest territory. Quiet and serene, the island is easily accessible by raft or canoe and is the perfect place to fish, swim, or simply relax. But Krokarans aren't the only ones who have discovered this little treasure. A family of otters has taken up residence here and are a frequent sight in and around the island. Though occasionally a nuisance, the otters are generally a welcome presence and may be taught to help the anglers of Krokar to herd fish into their nets. Because of their regular appearance on Fiskö, some Krokarans have taken to calling the island "River Dog Island."

Fox Earth Hill

Great River Crossing

A gently sloping hill which has been favoured by red fox families and their prey for longer than anyone can work out. If you visit the earths you could come across some stashed small prey - or a disgruntled fox. (Created by Rat during Krokar's territory contest)

Great River Crossing is the main crossing point for Krokarans to reach their westernmost territory, spanning the widest tributary throughout the entire pack. As with all river crossing points, flags mark the spot where rafts and canoes, along with paddles, have been left. However, at this particular location, Krokarans can find more of these watercrafts than at any other crossing point. Though large, this tributary is generally slow-moving. Caution should be exercised after heavy rainfalls or during the spring melts, however, as these are times when the river current is at its strongest.

The Murkwood

During the spring melts, the river runs heavy beneath one of the major bridges that span the rivers of Krokar. Though sturdy in construction, decades of unattended wear and tear has caused the bridge to crumble and collapse in some places although it has held up quite well for its age. Because of the swift river beneath it, Hallow Crossing can be a dangerous spot to be swept away, so caution should be kept during those stormy times. An ill-sounding name for an unfortunate area. Thanks to its proximity to a variety of water sources, this area is prone to heavy flooding, with standing water likely present at all times during the spring and fall months. A great many fruit and berries, particularly cranberries, may be found for the picking throughout the summer and fall. Herbs are also abundant and may be rewarding for those cautious enough to traverse through. Caution is advised during the winter, when the area becomes covered in thin ice and is rendered particularly dangerous. (Created by Gen and Rat during Krokar's territory contest)

Tuktu Lodge

White Birch Stand

An old lodge in the southern parts of the territory was refurbished by Gavin and Iroquois. Christened Tuktu Lodge, the lodge is home to all leather-crafting, tanning, skinning and preparation of animal parts into trade-worthy materials. Hunters and other Defense tier members of the pack may also find that the weapons storage has moved to the Tuktu Lodge, and out of the hands of neat-freak Pepper who typically maintains the pack's inventory.

A large swath of birch trees makes up what was once a nature reserve walkway. Darkly green in the summer and spring, fiery beautiful in fall, and eerily bare in the winter. Aster's Fields

Black Lake

Named after the Cormier siblings’ late mother, these are grazing fields for livestock as well as the caribou. Fields are separated by fences in various states of disrepair, but there are enough to keep horses separate from the sheep and goats, and some of the fencing stretches north into the woods for the caribou. The fields are fairly overgrown from lack of use.

At the north end of the territory is Black Lake. It is the larger of the two lakes with a dark surface that is shaded by the thick forest of trees that surround it, which gives it its name. The trees are a mixture of coniferous and deciduous and come right to the edge of the water.

The the surface is generally flat, making it a great place to learn to canoe or raft, and the cold water is home to an abundance of fish. At the south end of the lake, it feeds into the River of Fire.

Briar Patch

Echo Cave

Named for the Cormier siblings’ late father, these are the former farmlands of the town of Elsipogtog, now known as the Ruins of Tog. The area was fertile from the River of Fire flowing through it and crops flourished.

Now the fields are more like grasslands than farms. Between the fields are swaths of trees that were originally used as windbreakers, and which are beginning to fill back in, so the fields are starting to get overrun by saplings. In their current state, the fields are more suitable for grazing than growing crops.

Firelight Hollow

Piren

The forest continues to grow more dense here. The caribou enclosure extends from Aster's Fields into the south end of Firelight Hollow, west of Fiskebyn, allowing them the tree cover they enjoy.

The trees here are a mixture of deciduous and evergreen, and the forest floor is cluttered with underbrush and fallen logs. Birds can be heard calling, and prey is plentiful. It sprawls north towards Black Lake and into the foothills of the Burnt Church Mountains.

The Docks. Salvaged from the ruins of humanity, the few wooden docks here serve as ports for the pack. The wood they are made from isn't the sturdiest around, but it works for the intended purpose. Sitting just off the edge of the river, not far from the docks, is a salvaged house turned into a storage unit for rafts, canoes, small boats, etc. (Created by Arti during Krokar's territory contest)

River of Fire

Sister Lake

The River of Fire gets its name from the way it glows at sunrise and sunset. It is a calm, slow-moving river that flows from the southern end of Black Lake to the south between farmlands and swaths of forest to where it joins up with the rest of the Miramichi River, of which it is a tributary.

The water is cold, but the sluggish current makes it perfect for paddling rafts and canoes with little danger, as well as good for swimming. However, for those that do not want to swim, there is a crossing set up with a canoe and raft partway between Fiskebyn and Piren and another to the east of the Ruins of Tog.

The smaller of the two lakes, Sister Lake is located to the south of Black Lake. The surface is not shaded like Black Lake, and so it does not have the same color. It also does not have the same level of fish population, however it is very beautiful and picturesque.

Normally gentle waves lap the sandy southern shore, which is a nice, easy place to launch canoes and rafts, as well as a good place for puppies to play. Fiskebyn is located on the southern shore as well.

Ail Po Farm

Beaver Dam Pond

A dilapidated barn that is home to a feral cat colony led by a maine coon tomcat named Abbott. He is King of the colony and very territorial/protective of his own. Only those in the "good graces" of Abbott may enter the structure, but sometimes his fancy for a character can change on a whim. Tread carefully when visiting the farm. The grounds outside are normally safe territory to explore, but once a couple feet from the entrance of the barn, don't expect a warm reception. Abbott can occasionally be bargained with or persuaded to allow access to the viable tobacco stores inside the barn. His requests range from easy to downright demented. Do not trust this cat!

A small offshoot of the Miramichi River has been dammed by beavers; a wall of branches, sticks and stones effectively cut off the river's flow, creating a pond on the far side. If you're lucky and can get around the dam you might snag a beaver, frogs, or fish here, but blue-green algae occasionally grows on the surface of this small pond during the warm summer months. Knee High Village

Miramichi River

Buried in the Miramichi Wilderness, nobody knows quite what the purpose of this curiousity was. A series of houses were lovingly built years ago, neatly arranged, but with one odd feature: none of them are any bigger than a foot tall. Perhaps fairies or other tiny beings live here? The Miramichi River has many branches and is a very slow-moving river that can be used to get to St. Andrew’s River and eventually St. John's Bay, although by that time, the water is pretty muddy. The section claimed by Krokar, however, is clear but still slow-moving. Fishing is good, although not as good as Black Lake.

Parlay House

Riverbend Orchards

The Parlay House is situated on the other side of the Miramichi River and overlooks the beautiful and overgrown Riverbend Orchards. It's an old, idyllic farmhouse that, with the help of Gavin, Claude and Finlay, was re-purposed into both a meeting space and resting quarters for guests. The ground floor is a spacious room dedicated to large gatherings, and the top floor rooms have been furnished with lovely hand-crafted wooden furniture, and can accommodate up to six visitors at one time.

Unlike a regular forest with tall trees and wild asymmetry, the trees of Riverbend Orchards are a relatively short, consistent height and grow into straight rows. For most of the year, the Orchard only sprouts bright green leaves. But just as the air turns crisp in Autumn, the glistening, luscious red of apples dot the landscape like the beginnings of an impressionist painting.

Where the rows of apple trees end, a field of short grass and pumpkins reclaims the land. The cool fall weather seems to bring out the best of this bountiful area, attracting the attention of birds, squirrels, and all manners of wildlife. The Orchards are a great place to spend a day, as the low trees offer ample shade and plenty of covert resting spots. Additionally, the Orchards are a favorite of feral horses, and one can make many equine friends by bringing them here. (Created by San during Krokar's territory contest)

Stora Kvarnen

The Swamp

Despite the years, this sturdy wood and stone mill has stood through foul weather and more than its fair share of termites. It may be a little dilapidated, but it shows great promise with a still intact grindstone even if a good amount of wood is rotten. (Created by Gen during Krokar's territory contest)

Nestled on the outskirts of what was once Krokar lays a murky swamp, with water the color of tar. The area is said to be cursed by the River Goddess, as numerous canines have gone in, but none have come out. The area can be found just north of where the River of Fire and the Miramichi River meet, where the natural watershed has grown murky and thick with decaying vegetation. The area is normally shrouded in a nauseous fog and is usually avoided by anyone who doesn't want to spend hours getting muck out of their fur.

Because of its secluded and uninhabited location, The Swamp has become the perfect spot for a mysterious healer to call home.

Ruins of Tog landmarks

The Ruins of Tog was so named due to the old sign that was discovered with only the last three letters still legible: Tog. Much of the town is crumbling, and buildings that are still standing are full of rotting wood and therefore not livable. However, those who decide to sift through the debris may find some useful items, and may find the stone or cement basements in some houses to be useful.

There are a couple of buildings that are in better shape than others, such as the old single story school building, as well as the firehouse. These were made of brick and therefore withstood the test of time better than the other buildings, although the windows are mostly smashed and the insides are not in very good shape. Notable landmarks are listed below.

Artist's Alley

The Bunker

A concrete underpass which, once upon a time, housed a skatepark and was visited and adorned by many skateboarders and graffiti artists. The colours are fading from the artwork now and plants are breaking through the concrete, but if you look hard enough you might still find some inspiration in the images. (Submitted by Rat).

An old bunker built into a hill with a wooden door. It is made up of several small rooms that force many Luperci to bend over to walk around in them. The back rooms are very dark. They appear to have been used for food storage, although all that remains are containers.

Elsipogtog Elementary School

St. Anne’s Church

A one-floor school building. It has withstood time in fairly decent condition thanks to its brick exterior. Vines cover over one half of it, growing inside the broken windows. Chalkboards and torn wallpaper can be found in the room, as well as some rusted desks. The library has been fairly picked over, but some books in bad condition remain.

Once a beautiful cathedral with stained glass windows and intricate wooden details, the building is now partially collapsed; its steeple is almost completely missing. Vines grow up the walls and through the opening in the ceiling above the altar. Some bench seating is still usable while other parts have rotted away. A layer of dirt coats the inside and birds have built nests in the rafters. Most cloth and metal has already been scavenged.

Star Tex

An old Texaco gas station and chop shop in one. Many car parts, tools, wheels, and miscellaneous paraphernalia can be found here.

The Watchtowers

Following the Austringer Hostility, Krokar saw a real need for a different defensive tactic. Proposed by Ciara, the Watchtowers were designed and created by the collective efforts of Ciara and Gus. There were nine in total: Northern, Eastern, Southern, Western, and Central; Moosehead, Miramichi, Hallow, and Murkwood. Assembled with a mix of scavenged materials from Ruins of Tog and wood, each tower had a unique look. Defense tier members and other scouts could also find basic first aid supplies at each of these towers. Falconers of the pack found the towers useful for sending and receiving messages by air, especially from the Central Watchtower which contained a roost for many of the pack's birds.

Though these towers remain standing, nature and time is sure to reclaim them eventually.
