Cour des Miracles' Residences

ATTENTION

This is a historical resource!

This page belongs to a former pack and is being kept for posterity. Adding relevant and accurate information is encouraged, but please do not delete this page.

There are many locations in the Court to live, as there are cabins and houses spread throughout the territory. Listed here are the most popular places to reside and some more details on what to expect with these homes. You are by no means limited in where you live, and can occupy random locations in the territory. Members are encouraged to note where they live for people to reference!

Residence Claim Guidelines

  1. Feel free to claim unoccupied residences. The procedure is simple! Look over at the map. Pick a residence.
  2. Find the number of the residence on this page, check that it's not occupied, unavailable, unlivable, etc. If you can, try to avoid residences that have previous claimants, in case they come back.
  3. You need only edit the page and write in your claim -- or post to the CdM Maintenance thread if you're not comfortable editing the Wiki.
  4. Please keep your room description to less than 150 words. You are absolutely welcome to link to a longer description, but keep it short on this page, please.
  5. If you leave Cour des Miracles, we can't guarantee your residence will be available when you rejoin the pack. We suggest to players to avoid previously claimed rooms, but it's not a hard and fast rule, and so your residence may end up taken. Sorry!

Maison du Coeur

A lengthy construction project started by Kalypso Savoy prior to her ascension and a horrific winter, it was a new village constructed purely of mound homes that was meant to replace the dilapidated Chien Hotel as the main residence of the Court, located near the Les Champs d'Or. While lengthy in time, it seemed to have been a success in gaining the Court's attention and focus, completing the village before Fall of 2018. Should the need arise, there is still plenty of room to add more houses beyond the currently drawn map.

Home Types

Small Homes

Typically comfortable for a smaller number of inhabitants, these are the perfect home for one to three canines. Four may be snug. Five and more will likely end in a lot of disagreements and misery.

Medium Homes

A good home for a small family or group of friends. Five would be comfortable with the space, but any more may mean elbows will rub often.

Large Home

A relatively large home that is suited to a very large family. A family of six will likely be very comfortable in the home. A family of seven may seem a little cramped, and eight plus would be cramped.

Chien Hotel

South of the port town, the Chien Hotel still stands; an old stone and wood hotel that has been actively re-purposed as a home for a large number of Courtiers. Part of the building has been severely damaged in the hurricane, ripping a tree from the ground, which fell and knocked out several rooms on the third and fourth floors. There are also a large number of common rooms that are barred from claims, as well as the storage rooms with free access allowed to members.

Where to Live

Map of the Hotel
  • Two wings and four floors, the Hotel had almost 100 residence rooms to choose from. While rooms are not as large as a house may be, it does have a good location and guaranteed well maintained structure.
    • Since the hurricane, there are fewer rooms but they are in good working order.
  • Easy access to shelter, water, other members, and other goods.

First Floor

The reception area greets those who enter the hotel; it leads into the pack's office - where records are kept and written. Stairs lie behind the small dining area to the east. Toward the west wing is a library with some shelves, tables, and vaguely-organized books tended by the pack librarian. To the north, the Court kitchen connects to the Banquet Hall -- which holds a grand ballroom behind a fold-out wall.

The old hotel bed is neatly piled high with furs and blankets to keep both the old springs from stabbing her and to keep herself warm. There's a large bookshelf on the opposite side of the room from the bed that Ramona keeps some basic herbs and medicines. Her long bow is often rested in one of the free corners.

Ramona
04 --

Tora's bed is an old and water damaged mattress with furs providing warmth. A smaller pile on the floor has a wooden food bowl with the name "Runner" carved into it. A handmade stand holds his two swords. The small desk was also made by Tora and is littered with various seeds and arrows. A hunting bow is propped up in the corner of the room by the clothes stand with a buffalo hide robe, leather satchel, and a cowboy hat hanging off of it.

The bed is really a wooden king-sized bed-frame with padded pelts and blankets in lieu of a mattress. It takes up a great portion of the room, leaving little area for activities. An old bookshelf that has underwent obvious Luperci repair is pressed to the wall and is empty of books. A single nightstand sits by the bed -- usually, a Bible rests there.

Skoll
07 --

An old mattress without a frame is flopped unceremoniously along the northern wall. A short dresser with a stool sits along the southern wall; the dresser is marked with melted stubs of candles, other than an immaculate corner where a book generally lays. The dresser drawers contain various tools, from candle molds to wicks and cans of various substances.

Alessan
09 -- The room isn't much to look at. Worn and probably very used at one point, it has faded wallpaper that might have shown flowers at some point but are now unrecognizable. There is a bed of furs in the middle of the room and an old, wooden desk in one of the corners with a few rolls of parchment spread over the surface. On the walls, several not-so-good maps are pinned with scavenged nails. There are a few pots here and there with plucked flowers from the garden. These give the room a positive feminine feel and smell nice too. Julia
10 -- What was once an old office has now been turned into something of a small bedroom barely worth a second look. While there is no traditional bed, pelts, with hay for softness, have been set up in a corner all by itself, a dresser not too far away in the center of the room. Strewn about are remnants of cloth and leather alike. A single window opens up on the far side of the room, giving view of the hallways rather than outside. Candles are hung from small chains that once housed light bulbs, casting a soft light. Alouette
11 -- There is no bed, but in the corner of the room there is a pile of carpets, blankets, and several pillows. There is a bookcase in another corner, empty of books at the moment, and a nightstand close to the makeshift nest topped with candles. There is also a small tub for washing.

A double sized mattress heaped with furs dominates the corner diagonally opposite the door. A small wooden desk and a comfy chair sit against one wall. There are flowers in the room when the season allows it, and sea glass - rather than pictures - hangs from hooks on the walls.

Abigail
06 --

The room is bursting with the colours of flowers in the Summer and berries and fir fronds in the Winter. A generous helping of furs sit on a single sized bed to keep the island dog warm at all times.

Niro, Mistral, Paloma
07 --

A queen mattress on a wooden frame is pushed to the corner of the room, with a small, thin window above. At the end of the bed, facing toward the door, is a small wooden bookcase, usually crammed with novels and various sheets of music. Within the room there is also a small desk and wooden chair, which are usually strewn with more books and various flowers or paints. The walls are coated in vibrant colors and abstract murals, marking the room as rather unique and beautiful, if a little vandalized.

Preferring the materials she grew up with as a child, a pile of furs bundled in the far corner of the room makes up Thyri's bed. The room itself is otherwise sparsely furnished, with only a single weathered table and rickety chair. A fighting staff and Dane axe can be found leaning in the opposite corner to her bed. The rest of the items inside Thyri's room are mainly comprised of herblore paraphernalia: a leatherbound reference book, various plants, a makeshift mortar and pestle, etc. Her room smells strongly of herbs.

Second Floor

The central numbered rooms of the second floor are claimed for the pack's general storage. The three rooms overlooking the entryway were converted into a royal suite for the current leader of the Court. Silvano Sadira currently resides there and is often found there when not out.

An empty, queen-sized wooden bed-frame is pushed up against one wall. A wooden nightstand with a jammed drawer has been visibly moved into the corner; lines of dust-free floor mark the trail from its previous position to its current one. Atop it sits a chipped, old bowl that is frequently full of stones, shells, feathers, and plant clippings. A window faces out toward the front of the hotel and the bottom left pane is cracked. Under the window is a pair of deer pelts.

A queen size bed lies in the middle of the bedroom, surrounded by a few tattered chairs. A small wooden desk with a broken lamp lying on top still remains from when the hotel was active, sitting right next to the bed. A table sits to the left of the room, underneath a window that is decorated with scratches and cracks from throughout the years. Safire usually lets her chicken roam freely throughout the room.

Safire

Third & Fourth Floor

Many of the upper rooms were damaged by the hurricane, so canines are hard pressed to find good rooms that haven't been knocked out or damaged by wind and water. They are, as a whole, more deteriorated than the lower floors.

Lunenburg

Close to the northern border and the forested north, this old fishing town is located on the coast between cliffs and rises. The majority of the docks are still relatively intact, though the snowstorm from 2011 caused damage some of the houses, making them entirely unlivable. More damage that occurred during the 2012 Hurricane further ruined more houses and half the docs were obliterated. Many sea-side buildings are damaged, unless constructed of stone - though these are few.

Where to Live

  • Houses further inland will likely be intact with mild forms of damage that range from rust, mildew, and mold to structural damage in the foundations or roof.
  • Houses outside of the city limits will likely still be in relatively livable condition, though only slightly better than the sea-side buildings.
  • Buildings made of stone are likely to be more intact, especially closer to the water. These may be better options to live in if choosing Lunenburg as a home.

Other

Neither one of the previous tickle your fancy? There are plenty of other houses and small neighborhoods spread throughout the territory, though none are marked on the map. There are plenty of abandoned houses, though most are likely in a state of decay far beyond living quality. These are often more private as members are unlikely to simply be around unless you pick a location near something often visited, like the training grounds, the Hotel, or the town.
