Genkei Stryder

Genkei Stryder is a member of New Caledonia, ranked as a Peer.

He is the firstborn son of Teagan Stryder and Makoto Ridley, older brother of Naomi Stryder, and was born into Casa di Cavalieri. Genkei was the only surviving pup of his litter, and received the full affection and training of his mother as a result. He lived a relatively normal childhood, and, when he came of shifting age, he was ranked as a Candid (Path of the Warrior), and was apprenticed under his grandfather, Luca Knight. However, his apprenticeship was later taken over by his mother when his parents abruptly moved the family to New Caledonia in the fall of 2019.

While a hybrid, many of his father’s Akita traits shine through. There are some features that are markedly wolf; his legs, feet, gait, and eyes, for example. His tail is typically straight, however, when excited or showing dominance, it has a tendency to curl over his back rather than standing straight up. He has somewhat broad facial features that are tapered out by his wolf blood. His Akita ancestry is most distinguishable in his large, thick-looking, triangular ears; his tapered cheeks, and his trim, plush fur.
Overall, Genkei has an athletic build that is lean but solid. He stands on the taller side because of his breeding. In Optime, he is notated as being broad-shouldered and toned.
His hair is long and silken, and worn in a high ponytail to keep it out of his face.

Combat (Apprentice–Journeyman)

Genkei is keenly interest in swordsmanship and hand-to-hand combat. However, his fighting style is mostly a hybrid style of both his mother and father’s in that Genkei prefers to pair his sword with a shield or buckler, though, he works just as well without any weaponry at all. Being the son of a blacksmith and fighter, Genkei was exposed to many different types of weaponry (particularly, bladed), and knows the basics around using axes and knives as well. He was introduced to fighting from a young age, and began his formal training with weaponry upon shifting. Though he passed his First Blood, he still apprentices under his mother, Teagan.

Leatherworking (Apprentice)

In order to help provide tradable goods for the family, Genkei learned from his parents (particularly, his father) on how to tan hides. He regularly creates small crafts (ex. braided cord), and is especially interested in honing his talents towards crafting armor for both Luperci and horses.

Horse Husbandry (Apprentice)

He knows how to give basic care and how to ride horses. He has begun training in mounted combat with his mother.

Falconry (Apprentice)

Genkei has been around birds of prey his whole life thanks to his mother, and has worked with them regularly – from hunting to patrolling to actively working his mother’s falcons. He still has a lot to learn before he’s as good at reading and working the birds as his mother, but, having a falcon of his own helps.

Blacksmithing (Dabbler)

Having a blacksmith for a father, Genkei knows a few things and his way around a forge. His understanding is very rudimentary, however, as he can only make crude metal pieces, unable to make anything more advanced. While he has the potential to make a fine blacksmith, he has no interest in pursuing the field.

Description:

Full grown, Bacardi will be a smaller-sized draft-bred horse. Though she will show many typical draft characteristics in her general size, bone density, musculature, and strength, she will have more of a lean, athletic build like her sire than the bulkier, labor-like build of her dam. She will have long, powerful legs with light feathering. Due to her breeding, she will be able to carry larger Luperci, though, would probably do best with medium-sized females or smaller males pending on what gear she is fitted with.

History:

Sired by Teagan Stryder’s Apollo, Bacardi was born to Makoto Ridley’s Whiskey in August 2019. She spent her first few months in Casa di Cavalieri before the family moved to New Caledonia before the first hard snow in November 2019. There, she managed to survive the 2020 Blizzard, and, come the following summer months, began to be trained for future work as a warhorse. She was largely trained by Teagan, helped later on by Teagan’s son, Genkei. Bacardi was initially owned and taken care of by Teagan, before being given over to Genkei when he was old enough to do so himself.
