1.  Appearance

Chevelle is an all-around average mutt with clear German Shepherd blood. She is medium-sized but very strong, with a crushing bite and great endurance. Her ears are floppy rather than pointed, and her tail is full and long. Her fur is of medium length, a double-coat that sheds biannually.

She is tan and black, with most of her lower half -- legs, belly, underside of tail, chest -- and her face light compared to the black, which saddles her back and comes around in a "ring" to her chest. Her ears and muzzle are also black, and black clearly rings her tawny eyes.

In her Optime form, Chevelle remains rather average, though well-toned through constant work. She is not very curvaceous or feminine, with small breasts and only a bit of fat and roundness to her hips common to her sex. Her hair is black, thick, and curly; she often chops it short, or otherwise pulls it back into a ponytail with locks of hair falling down along her ears.

She has a few nicks on his hands and snout where his fur is thinnest, but otherwise has no prominent scars.

Chevelle wears a single piece of jewelry, a bracelet with horse-related charms -- a wild mustang, a horseshoe, etc. Her ensemble is not complete without ripped-off denim jeans and men's flannel shirts. She occasionally wears a wide-brimmed hat in sunny weather.

2.  Personality

Chevelle is a bit of a wildcard, looking out only for herself (and her brother). She has no qualms against breaking rules and sometimes enjoys doing so, though she usually only steals from those she believes can get along fine afterward. She'll do the occasional act of kindness when the occasion warrants it but is otherwise selfish and proud of it. When in good company, she is far from stand-offish; she is instead rowdy and friendly. She is a dominant and no-nonsense woman, often brawling to get her point across. She has a soft spot for equines and country life in general.

2.1  Details

Interests

  • Likes: Horses and mules, animal husbandry, leather-working, hunting, bonfires, open fields, rivers, combat, parties.
  • Dislikes: Foreigners, philosophy and speculation, spirituality and religion.

Traits

Rebellious, rowdy, confident, sociable, selfish.

  • Outlook: Optimistic
  • Expression: Extroverted, dominant
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Fears

  • Chevelle is afraid of being crippled -- as she has seen what this does to horses, and knows that she would not want to live if she wasn't able to run or ride or live life to the fullest.
  • Heights tend to make Chevelle nervous, much to her brother's amusement.

Motivations

  • Surviving -- and thriving!
  • Improvement of the self, especially concrete skills and abilities.

Spirituality

  • Atheistic
  • Chevelle doesn't believe in spirits, gods, or anything. She believes that every canine is meant to rule his or own life without religious rules, and that they should find strength in themselves rather than only in faith. She could care less about the beginning or end of the world -- or the afterlife, for that matter.

Biases

  • Species: Dogs are viewed as friends, comrades. Wolves and coyotes viewed more warily from instinct, but not unfriendly. Horses are cool.
  • Gender: Feels alienated by more feminine women, and so gets along best with men.
  • Sexuality: Genuinely very accepting of all orientations, but still relentlessly mocks non-heteronormative ones -- for example, playfully calling her brother "queer" and otherwise being politically incorrect even if she means well.
  • Religion: Equally biased against all religions! At least if someone tries to discuss them. You can practice, but don't preach.
  • Culture: Chevelle has a thing against foreigners and strange cultures. She dislikes "outsiders," such as those who speak primarily foreign tongues, have strange ceremonies, or are otherwise obviously foreign (i.e., a jackal in desert garb; an oriental wolf with odd tattoos) and, while she does not take physical action, she makes fun of them to hell and back.

Sexuality

  • Heterosexual
  • Attracted to rough, dominant men that challenge her.
  • Chevelle is awkward with romance, as she's normally "one of the boys," and struggles with her sexuality in some ways as well. She has no problem with one night stands but doesn't consider herself promiscuous. She really wants to have children and sees the ideal man as one who can provide her with good, strong pups.

Substances

  • Fond of beer and whiskey.
  • Sometimes found bumming a cigarette off someone, but doesn't partake in other drugs.

3.  Interaction

  • Speech: Southern States accent.
  • Scent: Horses, sunlight, fields, dirt, leather.

4.  Relationships

4.1  Key Relations

  • Wayne McCoy: Here is where you might describe especially important family members (e.g., if your character has a close, competitive relationship with a sibling, describe it here) or friendships or whatever else.

Sonny

  • Species: Mule
  • Age and DOB: >10 years, born Dec 2000
  • Description: Sonny is a mule -- hybrid of horse and donkey, with characteristics of both. From a distance, he looks very horse-like, but his long ears and thick head shape betray his hybrid heritage. Though he has a mostly full tail, his mane is short and bristly like a donkey's, without a forelock. He is black without any markings.
  • Personality: Sonny is a no-nonsense animal. He is intelligent, strong, and experienced in life from more than a decade "on the job." He is normally a placid animal, not disturbed by anything, and is somewhat solitary, minding his own business. He puts all the effort he can into his work, unless he deems it futile -- and then no one can match his stubbornness. He is, like many mules, obstinate when it comes to being put into perceived danger; his experiences mean that he can judge when a situation is iffy and refuse to work in that case (i.e., crossing dangerous territory). He is not overly friendly, but he does tend to form bonds with younger equines and take them under his wing, so to speak.

4.4  Abilities

Strengths

  • Horses -- riding, training, capturing, breaking, and stealing!
  • Hunting in Lupus form
  • Leather-working
  • Combat with blunt weapons (like her trusty shotgun), on foot and from horseback

Weaknesses

  • Rash, doesn't really think things through
  • Little true combat experience; relies more on luck to win fights
  • Not inclined to make friends, not at all diplomatic
