The story of the Armistice family originates in an area along the west side of the St. Lawrence River called Wolf River, where several large families competed for limited resources. In the old days, they would war violently, but after several generations, they became more sophisticated, developing their culture, and using their increasing population to their advantage. They began to expand outward, which abated their hunger for violence temporarily, and did not lessen the strong feelings of devotion to the land upon which they had historically settled. A competition was established among the patriarchs and matriarchs of the family to determine who would have control of Rivière-du-Loup, and delegate the power and resources among the families, until the time of the next competition. Those who developed the competition and its rules were voluntarily released from their families, coming together to create the clan of the Armistice, whose sworn duty would be to uphold the laws of their competition. In attempt to maintain unbiased opinions, the clan relocated to a nearby island on the river, so they could remain separate from the other families. Every three years, the majority of the Armistice clan makes the pilgrimage off their island, before the first snowfall, to live in the underground caves and tunnels where the competition will take place. They remain in the caves until the temperature of the St. Lawrence becomes tolerable, and they can swim back to their island home.

1.  History

For many generations, the Armistice clan upheld their laws and traditions, careful to maintain their own population, and growing ever more eccentric as the years passed. Their traditions and culture were largely oral, as the rules they followed were simple, and their isolated home meant they had limited access to finer resources such as paper. In addition to being keepers of culture, they learned how to cultivate their land, making the most use out of a small area, and becoming adept at identifying local flora as well. They occasionally send scouting parties to the East side of the river, typically in the summer months, to bolster their stocks for the winter months.

4.  Defining Features

Members of the Armistice family tend to be low-to-mid content wolfdogs, with Arctic wolves and Gray wolves being the most common type of subspecies within their lineage. Their dog heritage varies, but it is typical to see attributes common to Labrador Retrievers, Siberian Huskies, Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers, and German Shepherds. Merle coats and heterochromatic eyes (either full heterochromia or ringed irises) are common; typical eye colours include red, orange, yellow, blue, and purple. Males are typically larger than females, but all tend to have a wolf-like build with either perked ears and a bushy tail.

5.  Lore

The Armistice clan frequently uses mythos and parables in their teachings, finding it a practical way to teach others their law and way of life. These stories are a mix of popular fairytales and Canadian folktales, re-imagined for a post-apocalyptic werewolf universe.

5.1  The Snow Queen

The far north, where the rolling hills flattened, and the green grass turned into vast fields of snow, is home to a variety of magical, strange creatures. Among them are the snow bees; diligent worker snowflakes fashioned into crystalline apoidea who serve their Snow Queen. As honeybees have a queen, so too do these icy insects, who encircle her like a tempest. She lives alone in her ice palace, building it ever larger and greater still. As she constructs, tiny splinters of ice are lifted into the wind, and inadvertently dispersed by her snow bees, who travel the southern territories in the winter months to coat the landscape in frost and now. Sometimes, these infinitesimal fragments, imbued with all the sower and anger that fills the Snow Queen's heart, find their way onto unsuspecting luperci made of flesh and blood. Like slivers, they wheedle their way into the skin, poisoning their host on the way to their heart, causing them to become as bitter and cold as the Snow Queen herself.
