Zarité Luison is a weird promiscuous stonemason who grew up in and around New Orleans. After a family conflict involving incest she fled north on a trade ship, and got off at Freetown in early 2016 wracked by illness. The ship's captain, having become infatuated with her on the voyage, gifted her with a personal slave, Goat, with the hope that she would stay; however, as soon as the ship left harbor again, she freed the slave. Exhausted and ill, the two stuck together, and eventually left Freetown with another group of traders. They spent some time in Sonnerie, and then Zari left once more, leaving Goat behind. Goat followed suit a few days later but was too nervous to approach Zari again, so she merely follows, always a few miles behind.
Uncertain what to do with herself, or whether or not she ought to settle, Zarité currently wanders Nova Scotia, unaware that Goat is ghosting her.

Forms
xx lbs (xx kg) LupusZarité likes walking about on four legs, but it's rather useless in her line of work. She'll use it to be stealthy but not for many other reasons. |
xx lbs (xx kg) SecuiArguably her most powerful form. Zarité would pick this one to fight. She becomes considerably more muscular, with longer limbs and thicker fur around her nape and chest. |
xx lbs (xx kg) Optime (Preferred)The preferred form, for thumb reasons. Zarité is tall and lean, though gains weight in her hips during the summer (she tends to lose weight during the winter). She moves with grace and confidence. |
Interaction
- Speech: Speaks Spanish, Louisiana and Haitian Creole, French, and English fluently. Her English is heavily accented - a truly strange mix of all her known idioms. She uses simple, clipped language threaded with fancy words, and her voice is not very emotive. Likes to insert Creole words into all her other speech. Her default languages are Spanish and Haitian Creole, but she speaks Creole most often.
- Scent: Salt, campfire, spicy perfumes.
- Quirks, Gestures, Etc.:
- Holds very still when she speaks.
- If left alone for too long she will begin to hum, sing, or speak to herself.
- General Posture and Body Language: Relaxed and self-assured. She holds her shoulders back and her chin high. Proud, dominant.

Spirituality
- Her mother is a Roman Catholic, while her father practices Haitian Vodou. She chose her father's beliefs early on, and both prays and makes regular offerings to any or all of the loa. Her mother's religion has inserted itself in that Zarité also vehemently believes in the existence of angels (and possibly believes that the loa are something like angels), and "sees" them occasionally in visions. When she has settled own she will find herself a grotto, and leave offerings to the loa there. She also allows herself to be mounted by Papa Legba and Erzulie, but has not been able to since leaving New Orleans.

5. History
Zarité was born to two Luperci in the center of New Orleans's French Quarter. Her father, Prosper Rey, worked in a brothel at the time of her conception (which occurred in that brothel), and her mother, Serafine Luison, was a master stonemason. Theirs was a complicated, abusive relationship, but it began as genuine love. Serafine first frequented the brothel as she repaired a dilapidated fireplace and chimney, and that's how she first came to know Prosper. When her work was done, she continued to visit him there as a customer. Things stayed simple like that for about a year, until Serafine realized her pregnancy, and ordered Prosper to leave the brothel. He refused, but they continued their “relations” long into Serafine's pregnancy, and long after, hating and lusting after each other.
Zarité's birth was easy on Sera, and she was born alongside two brothers, a sister, and a hermaphrodite sibling who later identified as female. The first of countless arguments had in their presence was over their surname – and, in the end, the children took neither parent's name (Zarité later took her mother's surname, to spite her father). They lived primarily in their mother's small home, but visited Prosper often, lavished in the attention of the other whores at the brothel. They loved their parents equally, but as she grew, Zari found herself much closer to her mother than to her father.
The children were raised as artisans, and although Serafine encouraged them to learn stonemasonry, three of them found interests elsewhere. Zarité and her hermaphroditic sister, Maxine, became apprentices under their mother. When they could shift, they began to assist her.
Maxine quickly became Zari's favorite sibling, but the relationship turned to something beyond sisterhood for reasons still unknown to Zarité. The two became romantically involved, and spent two disillusioned months together before Prosper discovered it. He was quick to tell Sera, who promptly sent Zari away, to work with the only other stonemason in New Orleans.
Atlas worked her hard, and he was not kind, but Zari perfected her craft under his instruction. To deal with being away from her family, and being forced to live under the roof of the drunk asshole, she set down a road full of flings and trysts. She was just past her second year when she returned home. Maxine attempted to resume their relationship, but Zarité pushed her away, and they stopped talking to one another.
Finally, one emotion-filled night, Max threatened to kill herself if she couldn't have Zari again. Fearful of the blame that may roll in her direction should Max make good on her threat, the silver girl fled from New Orleans on a ship. Wracked by seasickness and an awful cough, she could only stay on as long as Freetown, where she un-boarded, utterly uncertain of her future. She wandered north with a few traders and found herself in Sonnerie, where she decided to stay for a while.
