Yara Desmaraise was born into the Beaucoup de Rivières Luperci community in Ontario, the eldest of seven siblings. Dutiful to the point of rigidity, Yara was the last of her brothers and sisters to leave her childhood home. Her father was a skilled healer, and when Yara began showing interest in healing, she and her father often travelled the area's countless lakes and rivers together, visiting patients and checking up on remote "camps." Yara amassed a fair amount of knowledge in her two years working for her father, mostly about treating illness and midwifery. From her mother she learned hunting, fishing, and an easy sense of humor.

When she realized there just wasn’t enough illness/injury/childbirth in her vicinity of The Rivers to occupy both she and her father, Yara struck out on her own at her parents’ encouragement. She was eventually picked up by a group of traders bent on Nova Scotia and arrived there in early 2019. In her first couple of days in the area she met a rather odd-looking gentleman and set herself to the task of worming her way into his heart.

Soon after committing their lives to each other, Yara and Saut moved to The Rivers permanently. In midsummer, Sorrel Asylum and Mayfly Asylum were born.

1.1  Essentials

Basics

Yara looks much more wolf than coyote. She is slender but scruffy, and largely unfeminine. In all forms she has long legs and characteristic spiky, ruffled fur. Her athleticism is understated in all but her Optime form, which sees her fur shorten and allows her muscles to feature a little more prominently. She doesn’t carry much excess fat and has few curves to speak of.

When confronted with difference in sexuality, lifestyle, or culture, she tends to romanticize it and regard it as alternative to her own way of life, which is the norm. That said, she will be exceedingly curious about these differences and seek to try them out for herself, so there’s usually no hostility involved on her part.
