Willow Cormier is the daughter of Eliza Cormier and Storm Cormier, born in Krokar. Growing up, she was always surrounded by family -- with three doting parents (including stepfather Milos Parhelion), four aunts and uncles, and a lot of "honorary" kin who played a part in her raising. As a result, despite the chaotic events of her youth (such as the meteor impact and the Austringer Hostility), Willow grew up well-adjusted and eager for adventure, boasting an optimistic attitude and a stubborn streak inherited straight from her parents.

However, an incident with her younger brother Logan shook up her faith in her caribou and her family's love, and the departure of friend and guide Myrkr Stormbringer from the pack left her without a confidant. Struggling with her feelings and her place in the community, Willow made the decision to strike out on her own, and travel on a spiritual journey to help find herself. Braving the frozen wastes of the north, Willow eventually crossed the Hudson Strait with a group of migrating Inuit dogs, and settled in a tribal community based around Iqaluit, the "place of fish," on Baffin Island. She learned about their faith, culture, and various survival skills -- as well as took an adventurous youngster, Toklo Ikiaq, under her wing.

When she returned to Krokar, she learned that it had disbanded following a terrible disaster. Willow found the remnants of her family and joined them in The Shoal, getting to better know her younger siblings and enjoying the company of her dearly-missed loved ones. However, when Willow met an sensual and spiritual stranger, Athras Eryn, her interest was piqued; she met and assisted the refugees of Caledonia as they found their feet in a new world, intrigued by their culture and gods. When New Caledonia formed, Willow was one of the founding members.

1.2  Miscellaneous

  • Speech: Loud, brash, average-high voice that still sounds "girlish." She has an odd accent, a mix between Eliza's misplaced drawl and Milos' Virginian speech. She signs while speaking, something she picked up from her father; her gestures tend toward sweeping and elaborate, conveying a "loudness" of their own.
  • Scent: Cormier, caribou, rivers and lakes, salt and fish, snow, wolf and dog.
  • Quirks, Gestures, Etc.: Extremely expressive; pulls faces and mimes actions even while speaking; her signing is grand and "loud." Clasps her hands together a lot to "silence" herself, but this never lasts long.
  • General Posture and Body Language: Willow is seemingly never at rest, tending toward large, elaborate gestures, expressive and friendly body language.

3.  Relationships

3.1  Family

3.2  Significant Relationships

  • Eliza Cormier is Willow's mother -- and the one she inherited much of her spunky, loudmouth personality from. The two are enough alike to cause conflict, but the love between mother and daughter could never be questioned.
  • Storm Cormier is Willow's father. Willow absolutely adores Storm, and inherited a love of diving from him. They understood each other in a way few others did.
  • Milos Parhelion is Willow's stepfather, though they love each other as if they were blood. At her lowest, Willow didn't know if she truly deserved his unconditional kindness and acceptance; his demeanor humbles her.
  • Bramble & Logan are Willow's younger brothers. She was eager to be a big sister -- perhaps too eager. An accident shattered the boys' trust in her when Logan was hurt, and Willow never quite knew how to repair the damage.
  • Percival, Daisy, and Cora are Willow's youngest siblings -- ones whom she has not yet met.
  • Myrkr Stormbringer was a good friend of Willow's. She acted like a clingy, annoying little sister to Myrkr, who nevertheless looked after her. As a youth, Willow never quite saw Myrkr's depths; his departure from Krokar wounded her, though she realized in hindsight that he was his own person.
  • Lucille is Willow's aunt and a leader of Krokar. Willow appreciates that Lucille treated her like an adult and collaborated with her on things like cartography.
  • Finlay Cormier is Willow's favorite uncle, an outgoing man who always treated her with great affection.
  • Toklo Ikiaq is a youngster from Iqaluit whom Willow took under her wing. She treats him as something like a surrogate little brother, keeping an eye out for him but also enabling him to live out his adventures.
  • Kenojuak Prior was an umialit, or whaling captain, Willow knew in Iqaluit -- the older sister of Toklo. Kenojuak is a woman Willow greatly admired, and who taught Willow much about life in the north.

4.  History

Willow Cormier was born in Krokar in December 2015 to adoptive siblings Eliza and Storm Cormier. Not long after her birth, her mother found a new love -- and mate -- in Milos Parhelion -- but this did not change all three parents' love for the girl.

Disasters struck during her childhood, from the meteor impact to the Austringer Hostility, though she was too young to understand quite what these events meant. Shortly after her first shift, Willow began to look forward, eager to become an adult in the pack.
