Tamarack Oldroot aka Tam is a Mer Bleue wanderling.

She enjoyed a quiet, feral childhood as the last-born of her sisters, Nettle Oldroot and Meadow Oldroot. Among the three, Tam was actually the least prone to wandering off, far preferring the tales told about far-off places to experiencing them herself. Early in 2019, Nettle began to spend less time with her family, and more time with a group of strange bachelors who had been poaching prey nearby. Tamarack entered her first heat around this time, and one of the males sought her out. Nettle discovered them talking -- "just talking," the male whined -- and in her anger she surprised Tam by shifting into a two-legged beast and pinning him to the ground. Scared out of her whits when the male she had been speaking to shifted, as well, Tamarack escaped and told her parents what had happened to Nettle. In their anger and fear they forbade Nettle from re-joining the family.

A few months after all this, Meadow dispersed from their parent's pack. Not wanting to leave Meadow's side, Tam left with her. They parted ways after the winter, and Tam spent several of months scrounging and wandering. She met Lukos Greyfire twice in late 2020, and when he realized she was struggling to feed herself in the late days of autumn, he invited her to visit Bête Noire. Not long after, she decided to stay with the band, and assumed the Suivoustos role. Not long after that, Nettle Oldroot showed up and bullied her way back into Tam's life.
