1.  Appearance

For a creature with the ridiculous name of Shonkhor Qarashu’urga, this feline creature certainly plays out the exotic looks well. Shonkhor’s base pelt is silver spotted over with jet colored splotches in partially broken rings centered on darker gray patches. In the right lighting, this pelt seems to glow, and it is no wonder that the humans of the past lusted after the pelts of his kith and kin enough to nearly drive his kind to extinction. Shonkhor stands at a stocky 150 lbs, a bit on the heavy side for a snow leopard but he possesses his specie’s uncanny agility and that classic, oh-so-soft and fluffy tail.

Outside of his wonderfully luxurious pelt and his sturdy build, the first thing an observer would note about Shonkhor is those silver-gray eyes of his. Nearly colorless with just the barest hint of snow leopard blue-green-yellow flecks, a human could diagnose that pigment anomaly as heterochromia iridis, where the irises of the eyes have uneven amounts of pigment, resulting in Shonkhor’s uniquely colored gaze. A glare could be enough to stop your breath and when he fixes those uncanny eyes on you…well, some things are better left unsaid. In classic snow leopard fashion, his face is highly angular, with a sloping brow and high zygomatic arches framing that killer look. Rounded ears, adapted to conserve heat in the high mountains and the cold, dry deserts of the Gobi fringes, top his head.

There are two prominent scars on Shonkhor’s face, marring his otherwise perfect visage. Shonkhor’s pelt also exhibits a tracery of pale pink scars, remnants of his past that he prefers to have nothing to do with.

2.  Personality

Now, how to describe him?

Shonkhor is very distant, like the icy mountains of his native land. No matter how much one tries to be friends with him, there is still miles of distance left towards what would be considered truly knowing him. His face may play to his emotions, sometimes being totally still hiding what truly lurked beneath or highly expressive at times in fits of extreme emotion. Other times, his face lies and masks what he really thoughts underneath a multitude of masks.

Emotions are something he doesn't especially like. From a young age, he had been taught to show the cold face to the world, the face that gave away nothing and that training seems to have left an imprint on his mental state. Shonkhor seems to have had shut away trying to feel, knowing that it isn’t very advantageous as an independent loner surviving in a literal dog-eat-dog world. Intelligence seems to be one trait he values and Shonkhor has that canny type of intelligence that basically tells him to lay low and try to get on with life as best as he can while trying to manipulate events to his own advantage. Shonkhor is a bit sarcastic and bitingly critical at times and at other times, may act accordingly to benefit himself.

And he seems awfully determined about certain things. Shonkhor definitely has ambitions, though these ambitions are privy to his heart’s darkest corners.

3.  History

Obviously, people would question the existence of such a creature in the wild fringes of Nova Scotia and Shonkhor’s story is just barely short of extraordinary, at least to the person who made him up.

Shonkhor’s kind had been enslaved for many a generations by the cunning Luperci who wandered the hot-and-cold wastes of Mongolia in search of riches. Claws and fangs were no match against the weapons and methods that the Luperci of Central Asia. These Luperci bred the snow leopards, along with other subservient species, to become gladiators of sorts, fighting for their entertainment. Shonkhor had been born to snow leopards of the Qarashu’urga lineage in Mongolia, a proud and ancient Clan. Just one of the final products of a breed of new fighters, Shonkhor was taught to kill as soon as he was weaned off his wet nurse’s milk. He learned the cold face, along with a dozen methods of dispatching enemies for the entertainment of the crowd and a hundred other ways of just ending life as soon as possible.

He survived a few fights in the pit, ending up with the scars that he did, before a Luperci of Nova Scotia purchased him on a visit to the sands of the East. This particular individual hoped to bring the blood sport to his own homelands and make a lucrative business out of gambling and this young snow leopard, Shonkhor, was a perfect fighter against any in the realm to stand against and win gold.

This Luperci wasn’t too confident on the snow leopard’s intelligence and underestimated Shonkhor. Keeping the snow leopard in a collar, the Luperci was content to show off his newest acquisition for his friends and other visitors on his journey across the Middle East, to the ports of Europe, and back towards home. And this Luperci talked about his plans, which Shonkhor remembered for future reference. Of course, he acted the pretty bauble, a perfect cat that rumbled with pleasure when petted and played with the pups dutifully.

As soon as Shonkhor set foot on North American soil, the snow leopard bided his time until the perfect opportunity and cut the Luperci’s throat and so here he was, let loose in a land he did not even know existed.

Due to being raised by mostly Luperci, he understands canine High Speech, though his interactions with some other snow leopards gives him some familiarity with feline High Speech.
