Oberyn Haskel (OH-behr-in ha-skl) is a Loner living in Ethereal Eclipse with his family and fellow members of The Court of Fangs. He is the son of Skoll Haskel and Dreyma Dawnbringer. He and his twin sister, Issola, were born in Cour des Miracles in the summer of 2018. Though their mother was initially present in their lives, issues between her and their older half-sister Galilee soon led to Dreyma departing the Court. Raised by their father and relatives, Oberyn and his sister had a largely average childhood. During his adolescence, however, the arrival of a band of loners out for revenge brought turmoil to the already struggling court. Oberyn himself was brutally assaulted by several members of La Marea – this incident proved life-changing for the young man. Shaken by the incident and fearful of further attacks, Oberyn rarely shifted from his native form and spent most of his time on four legs. Not long after the bloody incident, Cour de Miracles was formally disbanded. Those that did not leave for Portland, such as Oberyn and his family, remained behind and reformed as Petite Cour – a Loner Band meant to keep their small group of loyalists together. While this endured, the instability and major changes led Issola and Oberyn to make the decision to relocate to L'Autre Cour. It was believed their former pack's remaining Outpost would guarantee the pair safety and provide better opportunities to grow. Instead of completing this trip, however, the twins diverted their route and traveled north. They traversed a large portion of Canada on foot for several months, traveling through Ontario and onward into Alberta, where circumstance brought them into Terchová. While there, they joined the Tesák Clan – a pack of Luperci who upheld a more feral style of living. After nearly two years living in the wilderness, Oberyn returned to Nova Scotia. He was accompanied not by his sister, but by his mate, Makwaikwe de le Poer. Together, they sought out the remnants of his former life and a place to build the foundation of a new-but-old way of living. They slowly gathered like-minded people and in the autumn of 2022 founded The Court of Fangs. Only a few weeks after, Oberyn and Makwaikwe welcomed their first litter into the world: Zoltan and Nimkii. A year later they would have another pair of twins, Corentin and Mishibizhii. |

On the large end of average, Oberyn is a solidly built animal. He has a deep barrel chest and long limbs, with a muscular, squarish build suited for endurance. As a high-content wolfdog, Oberyn strongly resembles a purebred wolf at first glance -- but he has some doggish features that give him away as a hybrid, such as the tawny color of his fur and ears. His broad wolfish head is stopped with doglike ears that are wedge-shaped and proportionally large. Oberyn's fur is primarily a pale yellow, with an off-white underside. His sable markings are most notable on his back, though this pattern is disrupted by large portions of white. As he has aged, this has become more prominent. He has bright green eyes. While not a fighter by trade, there are a few notable scars on Oberyn's body. These are primarily smaller, and most visible where his fur is the shortest. It is very uncommon to find Oberyn on two legs. He primarily remains in his Lupus form. While he occasionally takes to his Secui form in order to travel faster, the amount of energy burned doing so often sees him sticking to his preferred shape. On the extremely rare occasions Oberyn chooses to shift to his Optime form he stands with a hunched posture, and has long, messy hair. |

He seeks to uphold goodness and justice in the world, often acting like a big damn hero when he believes someone is in trouble. This has gotten him into trouble before, as has his direct way of speaking with others. Some of this is intentional – for as good as he is at reading people, Oberyn often chooses cutting words. He can come off as aloof and even cruel, though certainly does his best to uplift others after bringing them down. In contrast, his need to isolate and lingering effects of his post-traumatic stress disorder are still present, and often see Oberyn shutting others off entirely.

Main Focus: Ranger
Introduced as an adolescent to this most necessary skill, Oberyn gravitated towards the pursuit and capture of prey animals. He occasionally uses his larger, faster Secui form for hunting. In an effort to ensure a strong populous of animals, Oberyn has focused on ensuring his kills are consciously made. Oberyn has a strong sense of smell and the dogged determination to follow a trail for days. His experiences both as a solitary and group hunter have helped him visualize and formulate theories about herd movement, a skill which has often allowed him to find and follow prey.
On clear nights, familiar stars appear in the sky. Having spent many years observing the heavens, Oberyn has familiarized himself with the patterns of constellations. He is able to navigate using the stars, and also determine the change of seasons based upon the position of certain patterns.
Oberyn is able to forecast the weather based upon localized conditions. He can generalize his predictions ("It's going to rain tomorrow") and make assumptions ("There will be a lot of snow") with a high degree of accuracy.

Auxiliary Skills and Hobbies
Oberyn is most comfortable speaking in the common tongue. He spent several years in a Slovak speaking community. This is the primary language he and his mate speak to each other. Raised by a French-speaking father, Oberyn spent much of his youth learning and speaking French. He would be able to hold a conversation with a native speaker, though they might note errors in his pronunciation. Oberyn often curses in French.
Oberyn is literate, and can understand written words.
Raised among combatants, Oberyn was quick to learn how to scuffle. A brutal attack during Oberyn's adolescence helped to narrow his focus into feral fighting. While he has been in a few real fights, Oberyn has managed to come out on top for most of these. Due to his early education about weapons, he is able to predict how an opponent might use these and better avoid and counter an armed fighter.
Exceptionally skilled at reading others, Oberyn is able to identify and mirror the feelings of other people. He further recognizes the difference in emotions via scent, and would be able to detect physical changes in those he is familiar with.

Oberyn and Issola traverse a large portion of Canada on foot for several months, traveling through Ontario and onward into Alberta. They arrive in Terchová on January 15th 2020, and join the Tesák clan not long after. Several months after this, Issola departs and Oberyn focuses his attention on Makwaikwe.

Oberyn and Makwaikwe travel for a little more than a month en route to Nova Scotia. Their journey follows a southeastern route, with Oberyn doing his best to retrace his steps. After two years time, however, this proves a little more difficult. Thanks to his skills as a navigator, however, the few times they get lost soon see them corrected. Having crossed the rivers along the Hudson Bay before, Oberyn is able to turn them southeast at the right time. An unexpected storm forced the pair to seek refuge in Matagami, a tiny enclave that once served as home to miners. The Luperci that remained were largely French-speaking, and thanks to Oberyn's ability to communicate with them, provide the pair shelter. From here, they are given more precise directions and warnings about the wilderness ahead.
Despite warnings that they would be following a harsh route, the pair move on quickly and, thanks to their survival skills, stay healthy enough to do so. They cover more ground – reaching Quebec by late November. Eager to return to familiar territory, Oberyn pushes them onward and they eventually make their way into the Western Forefront. While here, they have encounters of both unfriendly and familiar face alike. Oberyn makes his intentions to resettle in the south clear to a former packmate, though he refuses her offer of hospitality, fearful of being lured back into his old ways.
In the days that followed, Oberyn and Makwaikwe continue their journey south, and eventually settle in the Shiloh Hills. There, they wait out the worst of the snowfall and the flooding that follows in the spring. They take advantage of the isolation to recuperate from their long journey. However, they soon began to run into like-minded individuals. Though not all of these initial encounters seem to go far, by June, several of the loners decide to live together. Over the summer that follows, their bonds strengthen. That autumn, with Oberyn and Makwaikwe expecting their first litter of pups, they formally unite as a band and form The Court of Fangs.

Shortly after the foundation of The Court of Fangs, Oberyn and Makwaikwe welcome their first children into the world: Zoltan and Nimkii. As the first puppies born into the band, the group focuses much of its attention in their upbringing. The same is true for their parents, who while protective of the youngsters, certainly welcome the extra paws. Things become more complicated in the days that follow, as a seismic shift strikes far too close to home. Fearful of the afterquakes and potential for their homes to be swallowed up by the sea, the band relocates further inland.

- Skoll Haskel, his father, was the pinnacle of all things in Oberyn's youth. As he grew older, he began to see flaws in the man. He has unresolved feelings about leaving his father behind.
- Galilee Haskel, his elder half-sister, helped raise Oberyn and his sister.
- Issola Haskel is his twin sister. The pair were exceptionally close, and their bond intensified following the conflicts their pack suffered. Following its disbandment, they remained with Petite Cour for several months before they set off to travel. After some time, they came across the Tesák Clan of Terchová and joined their pack. While Oberyn assimilated well, Issola did not -- and she left the area to parts unknown despite her brother's protests. Oberyn feels a little ashamed that he did not follow her, and hopes to see her again.
