Nero, the brother of Axelle Napier and the son of Tyko Amini, was born in Ontario, Canada. He once resided in Anathema as a Xaphan Herbarius, but then moved on to Midnight Shores to stay with his lover, Esmeralda Collins and to avoid the move Anathema was enacting. Shortly after his children were born, he disappeared unexpectedly and once more took to the life of a loner with his horse and cat.

1.1  Basics

Essentials

  • Species: Nero looks incredibly wolf like, nothing else dilutes that appearance.
  • Fur: His fur is thick, surprisingly pale and unmarred by many other colors.
    • Optime Hair: His hear is choppy and short, forming a fluffy fohawk of sorts.
  • Facial Features: His face is kind, sloping and often sad. Though, he has very striking green eyes that stand out on his face.
  • Build and Size: Nero is incredibly tall and lean, though relatively well muscled. He carries himself as though he is small.
    • Lupus: Nero is long legged with a wide chest and covered in thick fur.
    • Optime: Tall, long limbed, lean and still rather shaggy.
  • Humanization: He has become more humanized after joining Anathema, though he doesn't usually wear clothes he often uses tools, especially involved with climbing/cave exploration.

Nero, while hunting or wandering, is usually in this form. He is long legged and swift and can easily run for miles. Though, in a conflict, he rarely utilizes this form.

It is relatively rare to see him in this form, as it is mainly used for combat or taking down a particularly large prey item. But when in use, he is much bulkier and his long legs are filled out somewhat, making him a very formidable foe.

In this form, Nero has a relatively lean build made for running that tones down some of his mass. He has close cropped hair that is unkempt due to his wild nature.

2.  Personality

Nero has changed a lot in the year he had been reunited with his sister. A life away from others allowed him a benevolent and king outlook, preferring to focus on his family rather than himself. Unlike many of his family, he was and is gentle and doesn't rely on violence to get his point across. He wants to figure things out diplomatically if he can.

Trust is important to him and when it is gained, it's hard to break. He is tolerant of mistakes and is very forgiving and willing to give chances. Though, when this trust is shattered it is incredibly hard to earn it back. Nero is incredibly sensitive in that respect and when broken, he tends to stay broken for quite some time. This phases in his life often reveal the worst parts of his personality.

One of those traits is his volatile temper. It's hard to get him to this point for he is highly focused on pacifism but when the seal it broken all hell breaks loose and there is little that can stop a seven foot monster. But more commonly, he is given to spells of crippling self doubt and thoughts of mortality. Growing older has brought this out more in him, as he loves and wants to have children in his life but often has thoughts of age clouding his vision.

But at the best of times, this kind wolf is even headed and diplomatic, willing to listen and forgive to those that need it. He is not motivated by rank and wishes the world could live in peace without borders. -- After his encounter with Iago, his personality is considerably more withdrawn. He is less likely to trust immediately, especially loners. Killing Iago and the abuse he received truly opened up his mind to what can happen when trust is taken for granted. At times, Nero appears hollow and dead eyed from what he has done.

As of right now, Nero believes only in the world around him and respects the animals and nature. He believes perhaps in some greater diety or gods that reign over the worlds but his ideas are mostly abstract about the universe. Nero associates the sky with power and godly figures. Since Anathema has been taking an interest in Wicca, he has begun to explore that but is very unsure of it.

Key Relations

  • Esmeralda Collins is Nero Napier's long time friend and occasional lover and Nero thinks extremely highly of her and loves her immensely. She is part of Cercatori d'Arte in which his pack is at odds with. After Cercatori d'Arte's disbandment, Nero found his place beside her in the new pack, Midnight Shores, from there he is able to be much closer to her.
  • Chloé Moineau was his first friend in Nova Scotia. Ironically, he attacked her leaving permanent scars but they ended up being close friends. Her life in Vinatta has forced them to not meet in quite some time.
  • Axelle Napier is his sister who he went out of his way to find more than a year ago. She is highly important to him but they have drifted some.
  • Azucena Lykoi and him have met a few times, he likes her.

4.1  Abilities

Scouting

  • Education and Learning: He learned while living on his own.
  • Cave Exploration/Scouting (Master): Once a beginner, Nero has become an exceptional explorer of caves after taking on his rank.
  • Hand-to-hand Combat (Journeyman): Due his pacifism, he doesn't often fight but his sheer size and coordination makes him out to be an excellent fighter.
  • Nero avoids conflict, in fact, he's afraid of physical violence every since his altercation with Chloé Moineau. He is afraid that he'll hurt someone badly or worse, kill them. This sometimes causes situations to be even more difficult. Though, when he breaks his vow of pacifism he spirals.

Archery

  • Education and Learning: His sister Axelle taught him at first and he's built upon the still.
  • Horseback Riding (Apprentice): He can ride well enough, nothing special.
  • Skinning (Journeyman): Lots of successful hunts have allowed him to learn, he's even skinned a moose and lynx.
  • Low Speech (Journey Man): He learned to use low speech when he was alone in the woodlands.
  • It is rarely seen, but he has an volatile temper. He blames his father for the attribute and chokes down his anger whenever it comes up. When his temper is released, it often leads to violence which is why he has so forcefully engaged the idea of pacifism.

5.  History

He was born to a small pack in Ontario, Canada with his sister Axelle. They were the only two surviving pups out of the litter, due to complications. His mother died of an 'illness' when he was very young, though he knew her well enough to miss her, and still does sometimes. After his mother’s death, his sister left the pack, but Nero stayed because he had no reason to leave. Sure, the death of his mother made his heart hurt, but he couldn't leave the pack high and dry.

After a while, Tyko decided to leave the pack too, and Nero decided to go with him. The traveling they did was less than enjoyable. It seemed that Tyko didn't like Nero being his tag along and chased him off every chance he got. Nero followed his father, though, despite the obvious message. He just kept his distance. His father acquired a new mate, and joined another pack where he loyally followed even though he was still not wanted. Not long after, he had a new baby half-sister called Kimat. At the time, he gave himself to protect his young sister.

When her mother died, it was beginning to get strange. Tyko wanted to move again, and he took Kimat with him. Devoting his life to protecting his younger sibling, Nero followed without protest, but Tyko protested. He seemed to calm down some after the death of Isis, but he still was cold towards Nero. They travelled a lot of places, but Nova Scotia seemed to draw them in the most, and so they stayed around. Nero, at first, stuck with Tyko and Kimat, but then wandered off on his own. Kimat was old enough to not get herself into serious trouble, and his father seemed to care about her a lot more than he's cared about anyone else before.

After leaving his father and half-sister, he found himself at a bit of an existential crisis, even though a small one. Having spent his life with family, being alone was a bit of a shocking change, even cold company was better than none.

Being lonely, he headed to the outskirts of Nova Scotia and mingled with other loners, but mostly spent his time with other animals. He spent his time wisely, learning the lower speech relatively easily from sharing their extended company. When he was not with them, he roamed the hills and fields memorizing old forest trails and paths until he had the lonely hills ingrained in his memory.

Though, soon his routine, which had previously kept him occupied left him cold and wanting more. Turning his nose back toward Nova Scotia and his family, which he had once held on to so loyally, he remembered his sister, who seemed almost a distant memory, but a fond one.

The past few months of his life have been bent on finding her, giving him a solid and reachable goal in life that he is very set on. But it was only until recently that he finally caught scent of her, and it seems that his journey alone is about to end.

He joined Anathema in May 2013 to rejoin his sister. Though, he was unaware of the dramas ensuing within the pack or the struggle he would face to attain peace of mind there. After a brutal run in with Chloe Moineau, he took up a vow of pacifism and despite his size and strength, refuses to physically assault others unless his life or the life of another is directly risked. Nero soon became accustomed to the Anathema way of life and has risen slowly in the ranks.

Though, in June of 2014 he met Iago who he thought would be his friend. Over the next weeks, Iago manipulated him and destroyed his self confidence. Ultimately, Nero snapped, breaking his vow on pacifism and ended up killing him. Murdering another sent him spiraling into self doubt and depression for quite some time but reunited with Esmeralda Collins settled the torment slightly and he struggling to return to normal.

This quest for 'normal' didn't last long as his relationship within Anathema became more tense. Struggling to cope with the dark atmosphere of the pack, he turned more and more toward his long time lover, Esmeralda. Upon hearing of her packs disbandment and then the move Anathema was about to take, Nero couldn't take it any longer. Severing his ties to Anathema and the last of his family, he went to join Midnight Shores, a new pack growing where Cercatori d'Arte had crumbled. There, he found some peace and closeness with Esmeralda.
