Kaiolohia Noelani

Kaiolohia is originally from Hawaii, and although she was torn away from it at a young age, her heritage runs strong in her blood. She does not remember her birth family, but when adopted took on the name Noelani, along with their customs and culture. She came to 'Souls in February 2013 and joined Cercatori d'Arte where she found her mate, Rowan Foxleigh. Kaiolohia and Rowan chose to leave the pack and travel together across the United States, and are now the parents of Malia and Kale.

1.  Lifestyle

1.1  Speech

Kaio's voice is exotic yet girlish, soft and gentle. She speaks both English and Hawaiian fluently. She also understands and speaks low speech of birds of prey and horses. She doesn't often raise her voice but can become whiny when frustrated.

Kaio is skilled in the art of Poi (Hawaiian fire play) dancing and at playing traditional Hawaiian Pahu drums. She has a beautiful singing voice and can also play the Ukulele. She has some practice with paints (art or body) and dyes as well. She has a way with animals, a knack for charming and befriending just about everyone she meets and a passion for the sea.

Kaio suffers from traumatic flashbacks on occasion from her time spent as a slave. She is also rather innocent both sexually and not. She does not know how to read or write very well and wishes to learn how to as well as cook.

Kaio lives in a small cottage style home next door to Rowan Foxleigh and his family located in Thornbury within Cercatori d'Arte pack.

1.4  NPCs

Iakopahua

Kaio's grey Andalusian stallion. He is one of her best friends and a faithful mount. He is very gentle and easy going though has his feisty, playful moments. He also knows a few tricks.

Mele

Kaio's Golden Eagle. She is on the smaller side for her species. The bond between Kaio and Mele is very strong as Kaio raised her from a chick. Mele assists Kaio in her hunting and is a loyal companion. Her temperament is usually docile but she has the potential to be very dangerous.

Kaio's Items Most of Kaio's things are related somehow to either Hawaii or her survival. Not all items are listed.

2.  Appearance

Kaiolohia is a wolfdog hybrid. She is half German Shepherd and half Buffalo Wolf. Most times she will wear nothing more than her various items of jewelry. She doesn't own any proper clothing. When performing, she will wear the traditional Hawaiian Hula set: grass skirt, bra-top, lei, grass ankle and wrist bands etc. Her fur is smooth and soft.

2.1  Forms

Lupus

Appears as she does in all forms, but with a noticable "crouch" to her hind legs from her GSD heritage.

Secui

Same as other forms, just bulkier.

Optime

Kaiolohia's hair is long (to her rear), black and sleek and shiny. She rarely will ever tie it back.

2.2  Build & Species

Her lean, curvaceous, toned wolf-like build comes from her wilder, paternal genes. She has a longer, narrrower snout, taller ears and slightly longer but powerful rear legs thanks to her domesticated, maternal genes. She is built "bigger boned" with a little more "meat on her bones" but she is not overweight.

2.3  Coloration & Fur

Predominantly colored more like a GSD, her base coat color is a rich brown. Markings include defined black that covers the entirety of her tail, all four legs, her underside and the whole of her neck with a stripe going down her entire back starting from between her shoulders. Facial markings include black backed ears and a stripe running from the back of her head and blending into her muzzle. Under her eyes is a wide, black, "v" shape that also melds into her muzzle. Directly over top of this "v" are six small, brown dots varying in size from smallest on the outsides and growing slightly larger in the middle. Her eyes are a bright, expressive teal which remind many of the ocean.

2.4  Modifications

• Scars:
  • During her time as a slave, Kaio receieved many lashings which left thin marks all along her back. They are now almost completely hidden beneath her fur but can be felt if touched.
• Tattoos:
  • None yet but she one day wishes to get a tattoo of a sea turtle somewhere.
• Piercings:
  • She wears two spiral coconut earrings in each ear.

2.5  Accessories

She wears a fake, pink hibiscus flower tucked behind her left ear, multiple necklaces, one on a leather cord with a polished hematite sea turtle on it, another with a real starfish pendant, another made of puka shells, another one with small conch shells, and finally one with a fake plumeria flower on it. Upon her wrists she wears various wood and shell bracelets, and an ankle charm bracelet made of various shells upon her right ankle and another ankle bracelet made of pearls on her left ankle. Not all items of jewelry are worn at the same time, they are usually mixed and matched on any given day.

3.  Personality

Kaiolohia is a girl you never forget. If not for her unique name and appearance, for her winning personality. Kaio is a free spirit, an Island child. She has a carefree, laid back way of looking at the world and is not often to be found in a down or sour mood. Some traits that best describe her are generous, kind, loving, enthusiastic, bright, accepting, creative, curious, helpful, protective, adventurous, loyal, respectful, playful, cheery, determined, flexible, forgiving, optimistic, naive, innocent, flirtatious, fun, insightful, intuitive, empathetic, honest and sincere.

With such admirable traits, not many would believe that Kaio was once very much the opposite of what she is today. Due to cruelty and abuse in her past, she used to constantly be fearful, shy, sad, closed off, anxious, and easily put down. A lot of these traits are still easily triggered in certain situations and she often still suffers through long lasting bouts of such emotions. Rarely is Kaio angry. She can become agitated or frustrated but she has never purposely verbally attacked anyone and has never physically harmed anyone except in self defense. When faced with difficult things, she will put her best effort into it. However, she can be easily discouraged and show signs of a hidden, inner, low self confidence issue. She is one of those people who doesn't know how truly wonderful they are, how valued they are as someones friend. She is extremely nervous around strangers but warms up fairly quickly. Despite her age, Kaio is still very childlike. She tends to view things differently and might not understand some of the "why"s in the world. She retains a childlike innocence and simple mindedness about some things while a very adult perspective on other subjects. Kaio can also be a little oblivious to some more obvious social cues.

A lover of all things natural, and an artistic being some of her favorite activities are dancing, playing the bongos or tribal drums, swimming, cooking, poi dancing, singing, racing, drawing, painting, carving, exploring, horse-back riding, star-gazing, romping in the rain, romantic walks on the beach, telling jokes, and just having a good time with friends. Kaio does not however enjoy violence of any kind (although she knows hunting is a part of nature), pain and suffering, loud noises, snakes, thunderstorms and cold weather. On a moral standpoint, murder, stealing, drinking, drugs, rape and slavery are bad but she is known to easily forgive people's wrongdoings. Rape and slavery she finds the most heinous due to her personal experience.

3.1  Demeanor

Discuss how your character treats others here, and their general "presentation." Although less a defined appearance quality, think about the way your character presents him or herself -- are they open, outgoing, and social, or introverted, quiet, and aloof? Considering and jotting this down as part of their appearance can help you as you're roleplaying -- keeping this small but vital detail in mind can give you major clues as to how your character would act and present themselves in situations in terms of body language.

How do they react to certain situations -- newcomer at the borders, a stranger with bad attitude in the neutral territories, a lost puppy? Do they have a strong sense of right and wrong, or does their morality shift to accomodate the situation and their best interest? What motivates them, and what frightens them? What do they enjoy and what do they dislike? Although this is a lot to think about, considering these aspects can help you fully flesh out your character. It's helpful to make sure that aspects of their personality mesh well with their biography -- thus, try to think of a plausible reason why a character acts a certain way.

Optimist/pessimist? Submissive/dominant? Introvert/extrovert? A character who is more introverted might cross his or her arms while talking or avoid eye contact more often. This can also assist others in “reading between the lines” of your posts. While you may not take the time to detail how your character presents him or herself every time they make a move, having a general idea stated in your profile can help players fill in the blanks if they don't know your character so well.

3.3  Ideals

Biases

• On a moral standpoint, murder, stealing, drinking, drugs, rape and slavery are bad but she is known to easily forgive people's wrongdoings. Rape and slavery she finds the most heinous due to her personal experience.

Sexuality

Heterosexual. Kaiolohia is very uneducated and innocent when it comes to sex. She was used as a sex slave when young and is actually scared to share intimate relations with anyone.

Substances

Kaio avoids these at all costs usually but has unknowingly tried weed once.

Spirituality

She has yet to really figure out her spiritual beliefs.

4.  Relationships

Kaio is usually a social butterfly. She makes friends easily but can also easily be manipulated and gain enemies.

Rowan Foxleigh

Rowan is Kaio's closest and most trusted friend as well as her mate. They are very close. Their relationship is GOOD.

Kenna Foxleigh

Rowan's brother. Kaio is actually a little scared of her because of how confident she is, yet admires her for it as well. Their relationship is FAIR.

Kaio joined CdA with hopes of settling down into a peaceful, prosperous life among the friendly d'Artisans.

Kaio does not remember her birth family but feels very much accepted among her adoptive family. She is now devoted to her Foxleigh mate and their loving children.

5.  History

As a young child, Kaiolohia was the unfortunate victim of some very unkind circumstances. Kidnapped from her parents at the age of three months, she was then shipped across the sea with other children her age to the united states where she was sold as a slave. For a year she was used and abused, meant to do everything she was told by her cruel master. She served as a worker on his plantation by day and a sexual toy for him and his other twisted, sick minded buddies by night. She was whipped if ever she dared to fight back or misbehave and so has old scars from her mistreatment on her back to this day. During this time she had all but lost hope of ever being freed from her dire situation. She only tried escaping once, but was quickly 'cured' of any desire to leave. It was the life she had come to know. She had all but forgotten her birth family.

By age two however, Kaio's suffering was to come to an end. A family group of mercenaries were sent to raid her master's plantation one night when they discovered her in the basement, chained up, starving, battered and scared. They quickly rescued her and after a month of slowly earning back her trust and letting her recover from the ordeal, the group took the time to teach her a few survival and self defense skills such as how to use a bow and arrow, a knife and some martial arts. It wasn't long however before she had to part ways with her saviors and she found herself adopted into the family of a relative of one of the mercenaries who happened to be from her home, Hawaii. Given a second chance at a happy life Kaio lived and traveled the country with her new loving family, learning how to love life again and unlock her true self. She learned more of her culture, language and was taught the art of fire-play and other traditional aspects of Hawaii. She was given her own horse and a golden eagle to raise for herself. All was well.

It was at the age of three that Kaio finally went off on her own to face the world as a new, revived person. She made her way Northeast seeking to find a place where her talents might be of use or appreciated. She encountered many new faces on her journey, making friends everywhere she went and was gifted with many items for which she is grateful for and treasures to this day. She eventually made her way to Nova Scotia, a land richly inhabited by other Luperci. Eager to learn more about the packs that dotted the lands, after a couple months as a loner Kaiolohia decided to join up with the pack she found most intriguing, the one that seemed to suit her best. Cercatori d'Arte. Here she resides today, settling into pack life, learning, and hoping to put her skills to use. She one day hopes to find a way to return to her homelands in Hawaii.
