2.  Personality

Elijah is a go-with-the-flow person, and tends to be generally amicable. He is afflicted with autism and behaves “oddly” because of this—however, he is aware of his “disorder” and has embraced it. On rare occasions, Elijah may sink into a violent and awful depression.

Bisexual. Elijah views sex as he does friendship, and considers it an intensely deep and spiritual affair. He has, to date, had only two sexual partners (one male and one female).

Substances

Marijuana and hashish are Elijah’s drugs of choice; he partakes in both regularly. He is less fond of alcohol and favors “sweet” drinks, such as mead and wine.

Spirituality

Elijah is an intensely spiritual man. He believes in spirits of all sorts, various gods, and is well-versed in dozens of faiths. It is uncommon for him to discuss his own beliefs openly, though he will gladly engage in conversation with others and offer uniquely unbiased opinions.

4.  Interaction

  • Speech: When Elijah does speak, his voice is a melodic tenor. He is capable of having long and engaging conversations but often displays a tic of his autism in the form of echolalia. All of his verbal conversations are echoed in hand gestures, which serves as his preferred form of “speech”.
  • Scent: Elijah smells strongly of cloves, marijuana, Nana (horse), and a general “woodsy” scent.

5.  History

Born of a lover’s tryst, Elijah spent the first few months of his life in the relative safety of Cour des Miracles. He was tormented endlessly by his sister, Elvira Winters. Both children, one with an illness of mind and the other of spirit, soon left their childhood games behind. Elvira’s games became dangerous and violent, and Elijah soon began shunning her and throwing tantrums when she was in his presence. Once he was old enough to be alone he found a new babysitter in the form of Nana, his mother’s horse. The broodmare “adopted” Elijah and treated him as if he was her son as opposed to a wolf.

Elijah’s older half-brother Ezekiel spent some time with the family and the impression never left. It is from Ezekiel that Elijah picked up on “clan-speak”, his own modified version of Ezekiel’s low-speech. It was named because he could not pronounce "hand" and Ezekiel always refered to Inferni as a clan.

Following the death of Cailen Winters?, another elder half-brother , Elijah’s family life changed dramatically. He spent most of these dark days with Nana and Zola, a raven that had come to stay with the Winters by way of Ezekiel. It wasn’t long after this that his mother uprooted his world entirely—they abandoned Elvira to the wilderness and made to leave, only to encounter Elijah’s father Gabriel de le Poer en route with Elijah’s nephew Cernunnos Winters. After some discussion, the two adults elected to leave the Western Hemisphere entirely.

Almost three months were spent traveling overseas, an experience that Elijah enjoyed immensely. He and his family arrived in Airgid Gleann in early October. His mother’s position (and mate) afforded them a life of status and luxury, which Elijah blossomed in. He was beyond thrilled when his younger siblings were born later in that same month, and took it upon himself to act as their babysitter whenever he could.

When Elijah turned a year old, his great-Aunt Mab de le Poer came to visit again. She explained that it was traditional for all members of the de le Poer line to take a journey without aid in the hopes of teaching “the lesson of Peter the Great”. With his parents’ blessing, Elijah left home.

He traveled first to Dublin and there booked passage to Lisbon. After two weeks in the port town he traveled to Algiers. Nearly a month was spent in Rome, taking advantage of the great works of history that had not been destroyed by men. In particular, a Cardinal of the Vatican convinced Elijah to visit Jerusalem. After another month of travel, Elijah found himself in the holy city and devoured all knowledge he could. Many assumed, from his lack of speech, that he himself was a monk—taking this idea to heart, Elijah assumed the role and was given access to many holy libraries that otherwise were off-limits.

By then, summer had come full force. Elijah left Jerusalem in early July and arrived in Cairo (luckily enough) when a ship intended for Montpellier docked. He was thrilled to find that the Captain (and his first mate) were friends with his family. They not only helped bring him to France but outfitted the young man with new clothes and a healthy understanding of the maritime trade (something that may have been slightly skewered by their pirating ways).

Mab put Elijah up for another month, educating him on the history of the de le Poer family and more. He was trained in various forms of combat by his cousins and became favorite babysitter to the hordes of children that resided in Exham Priory’s vast claim. He traveled north, intending to arrive in Paris, but got lost and wound up in Amsterdam instead. Luckily, a Russian picked him up and the two made way to Dublin.
