4. History
Born in Zion to a very young mother, and promptly adopted by her uncle Silas Kasper when she passed away. Her uncle attempted to shield Dolores and her siblings from the worst of the war with Scintilla. Of the three, Dolores—sensitive, the most similar in appearance to their mother—was the most sheltered by Silas. However, the constant war was very much still a part of their lives. All three children received combat and survival training to prepare them for conflict (and saw unlucky peers fall to the coyotes), and were baptized when they were about a year old.
When Amund Fannar gathered forces for a mission of vengeance in the north, both Silas and Dolores' brother, Zacchaeus, departed. Without her father figure to protect her, Dolores was forced to participate fully in the conflict at home. Her larger, bolder sister Damaris looked out for her, but Dolores ended up in several scraps and was a detriment to her comrades.
Several months passed, and it became clear that the Boreas contingent would not return. Fully believing her uncle and brother dead, Dolores became despondent.
Damaris persuaded her to leave. Sedition was one of the worst offenses—a sin deserving double-damnation—and while Dolores hesitated, Damaris was convinced that it was what Silas would have wanted for his favorite child. She believed, too, that Dolores would do well out in the world and still fight for those—like Boreas—who suffered.
Dolores left and didn't look back.
