Dale's Adoptable #12

This character is open to adoption under a Relaxed Permanent Contract. You have free reign to choose, edit and modify any of the traits listed here, or even the design of the character itself. Once you claim the character as yours, it's yours, and you are free to put them up for adoption to someone else at any time. If not, you may drop, kill them off, or NPC them as you please. All I ask for is a vague outline of what you plan to do with this character so I can pick a good first fit.

Adopters, once they have claimed the character, will have the following perks:

  • A reference sheet
  • A resized reference sheet
  • A full-size and resized (avatar-size) mugshot
  • A full-size and resized (avatar-size) body shot
  • The hex codes for the character's color design
  • A table code to use in RP posts

If interested, please contact Dale via PM on their Dogmeat account.

1.  Possible Character Names

This is, by no means, an exhaustive list. They're simply ideas for an adopter to look at if they can't think of a name they like for this character.

Male:

  • Aubin: French version of Albinus, a Roman cognomen that roughly means "little brightness".
  • Bertrand: A Germanic-based name meaning "bright shield-rim".
  • Hywel: Original Welsh version of Howell, which means "eminent". This was also the name of an ancient king.

Female:

  • Albine: Feminine French version of Albinus, and roughly meaning "little bright girl".
  • Calanthe: A Greek name meaning "beautiful flower", and also a name for Christmas orchids.
  • Halla: Feminine version of the Old English name Hall, which was originally a name for a person who lived or worked in a manor.

Gender-Neutral:

  • Faelind: A Sindarin named derived from the words fael and ind, and roughly meaning "just in thinking", "fair in thought", "generous-minded", or "generous-hearted".
  • Haelys: An Elvish name roughly meaning "free as a breeze" or "free as the wind", and made using a D&D name generator.
  • Sangrail: An old poetic term for the Holy Grail of Arthurian Legend.

2.  Appearance

Design colors by Miranda, and lineart by Lockwork Orange on FurAffinity. Bone earrings and clothes are by Ash.

2.1  Forms

  • Lupus: Up to the adopter.
  • Secui: Up to the adopter.
  • Optime: Up to the adopter, and suggested as a preferred form.

2.2  Modifications and Accessories

  • Up to the adopter, but this character comes with a pair of bone earrings decorated with little leather or fabric ties. Depending on the adopter's preference, they may or may not be worn, be used for another character instead, or traded off or rid of somehow. Colors and earring decorations are up to the adopter - the reference image linked above is for the adopter to get an idea of what the character's earrings look like.
  • This character also comes with a flax linen, wool or cotton skirt, shirt, and sash that wraps around to form a belt. Depending on the adopter's preference, they may or may not be worn, be used for another character instead, or traded off or rid of somehow. Colors and clothing decorations are up to the adopter - the reference image linked above is for the adopter to get an idea of what the character's clothes look like.
  • Finally, this character comes with the "Garnet" table by Westy, which can be previewed here: https://i.imgur.com/05zt7j8.png

3.  Personality

This character is a dreamer and a visionary. They are constantly trying to see the bigger picture, taking into account everyone's biases and feelings. They listen more than they talk, and have a soft, unintruding presence around them. They are built to observe, and are more focused on their surroundings and goings-on than their own wants, needs, or doings. Whatever they learn is something to be experimented with or tested out, and they may find joy in a creative art or manufacturing trade. They go where others fear to tread, but rather than the bold approach of an intrepid explorer, they're most likely to stumble across something new or unexpected. Unfortunately, this can lead to a sense of lack of self-worth or defeat if they fail to find anything worthwhile, or their discoveries aren't appreciated or welcome. They may also annoy or anger "the wrong people" with their constant questions and insatiable curiosity.

This character, if they had a D&D alignment, would be True Neutral with Chaotic Good leanings. From most to least importantly, they believe that:

  • Shall not place duty above the desire to do good, because everyone should act on the urge or motivation to do good
  • Shall honor those that honor them, for those that respect you should be respected in return
  • Shall not promote an extreme viewpoint, since the beliefs and values of others are as important as one's own
  • Shall break the law in pursuit of goodness, but that doesn't mean restitution shouldn't be made after the worst is over
  • Shall not betray others unless their life is in jeopardy, but they'd never betray others willingly and would likely die before betraying another

In regards to their behavior and their alignment, they will, from most to least likely:

  • Believe all should be treated fairly and kindly, for that is the right of all living beings
  • Provide for friends, but expect favors, assistance or some sort of fair trade for their services
  • Generally keep their word, but can't make promises on things beyond their control or working in poor circumstances
  • Believe those who want to rule over others are corrupt, but is fine with those who lead due to need or democratic choosing
  • Fit in with their society, though they are considered eccentric and are thought to have odd ideas

4.  Relationships

This character was raised in a very open and unconventional environment. It could've been everything from a "hippie" commune to a combined polygamous family to being an orphan passed around from pack to pack. They might've had many siblings, cousins, friends, or others their age to interact with, or they may have been outcast and shunned - it doesn't matter in the end. This character has always been in a world of their own, and their unassuming and sometimes-scatterbrained presence makes it hard for them to socialize or understand other people. If they find "the right person", however, they will form a close bond whether romantic or platonic. They aren't at all possessive of their friends or lovers, and are open to polygamous and open relationships. They are, however, protective and devoted to individuals who have their trust and respect, or as much as they can be with their distant personality.

There are a number of open territories you can use as a place of origin for this character, or create backstory and ties to. Good examples for this particular character include Barbados, Mer Bleue, Portland, or Sonnerie. The on-board settlement of Freetown may also be a good option.
