Burn Briar

A maned wolf born in the wilderness and raised by a group of traveling performers. After leaving the group over their treatment of a Non-Lupercalia like him, he found his way to Crimson's den, where he was nursed back to health and gained a new traveling partner in the form of the younger canine. They later decided to become mates, although Burn was still unsure about starting a family yet. Recently, they have been traveling east in search of a suitable home.

1.  History

Burn Briar was born to a couple that was with a band of performers, working any job that they could do without opposable thumbs. Burn was raised among this group, but soon learned of the hardships of life through the master performer, Riko Sanchez, a large wolf Luperci that was responsible for a lot of the scars Burn now wears today. The larger and more able canine liked to use the maned wolves as scapegoats for when performances went sour, as well as any mishaps along the way.

Burn was soon goaded into leaving the group by a kind stranger who left the group as suddenly as he came. Burn, deciding to take their advice, escaped under the cover of night. However, his wounds from the beatings from the day before (their performance hadn't had a very big crowd, or one at all, really) started dragging him down. He was found lying on he ground by an innocent-looking maned wolf pup by the name of Crimson. Helping Burn heal, they quickly became friends as Crim was curious to know everything about the world.

As he soon returned to full strength, Crim began accompanying him on his travels, and later the pair became mates. However, the dark maned wolf didn't like the idea of having a family without a permanent place to stay, which reminded him of his childhood, and so they decided to settle down somewhere first.

2.  Personality

Burn is, first and foremost, loyal almost to a fault. This is what kept him from leaving the performing group sooner, as he had grown up with them and lived his whole life as one of them. Burn is also quite confrontational, and he's not afraid to get in someone's face if he believes they're in trouble. He's the archetype of a hero: a bad past, but moved past that and is now in a loving and stable relationship with Crim. He's also selfless and courageous, putting others before himself.

However, these traits come with drawbacks as well. Burn is prone to fits of depression as a result of his selflessness and the feeling that he'll never be good enough for anything that was engrained into him at a young age. He can also be stubborn and obsessive towards Crim at times, although he is afraid to see her hurt in any way, and Crim will usually call him out on his behavior.

3.  Relationships

The only family Burn has ever known was that of the traveling performers. Most of them were nice or at least decent to him, so he has no grudge with them.

Crimson Briar is his mate and the love of his life. They met near Crim's den, and as his wounds healed they began to talk. Crim was always asking one question or another, and before he knew it, they were inseparable. By the time he was healed, she came along with him, and the two began traveling the country together. Some while later, they made the decision to become mates, although Burn wasn't thrilled about the idea of raising a family just yet.

Unlike Crim, Burn knows the ways of Luperci and is slowly teaching the naive maned wolf about their strange ways.

5.  Appearance

Burn looks like a standard Maned Wolf, with a red coat, lighter underbelly, and black stockings, mask, and scruff. He also has some visible scars on his back and a couple on his face from his time in the circus. He is shorter than a South American maned wolf, being only about 28 inches (71.12 cm) tall at the shoulders and weighing about 23 pounds (51 kg). His eyes are dark brown, nearly black, with one spot of a lighter brown on his right eye.
