1.  Appearance

Aubrey's mixed heritage has given her a small build, more thin and lanky than the average grey wolf. She carries herself generally submissively as a part of her way of staying in the background to watch and learn, but is not short of confidence. Her large ears and eyes are expressive and always attentive. She has long, soft fur that does wonders to protect her from sharp winds but is little help in the humid Canadian summers.

1.1  Build and Species

Aubrey has the thin build from all of her genetic ancestors with long legs and a small stature. She has the reddish fur of a Eastern Timber Wolf, but the large ears of a Mexican Wolf.

1.2  Coloration

  • Optime Hair: Nutmeg (#763928), highlighted with Cape Palliser (#9C5F44)
  • Eyes: Lavender Gray (#C3ABD4).
  • Fur:
    • Primarily Nutmeg (#763928).
    • Lighter Hampton (#E2C6AB) on underside.
    • Black (#000000) guard hairs on her back
    • Cape Palliser (#9C5F44) gently streaked throughout
    • Dyes her paws, hair, and tail frequently in colours like Curious Blue (#1A97DB) or Hibiscus (#BB3576)

Her preferred form, very lanky and lean. She's short but not stubby, just... miniature.

Used maybe once or twice, as Aubrey's a poor shifter and finds staying between forms a mentally exhausting process. It's also not much more impressive than her Lupus form with still scrawny legs and an amusing poof of neck fur.

Short yet lanky and very leggy, this form is rarely seen outside of when Aubrey is painting. Her long neck fur becomes waist-length hair that she messily buns and ties with a scarf or twists with a stick.

1.4  Other

Modifications

  • Piercings: None.
  • Tattoos: None.
  • Scars:
    • A few little scratches and nicks throughout her body, hidden by fur or naturally grown over, from failed hunting lessons and the usual childhood mistakes

Accessories

She doesn't wear much as she doesn't use her Optime form often; she finds it too conspicuous.

  • Collection of colourful scarfs to tie up her hair

Clothes

  • Aubrey doesn't own any clothes at the moment, but living in a more Optime friendly village she may begin to use that form more often and begin experimenting with clothing.

2.  Personality

Aubrey appears generally submissive, a trait she initially picked up from being the last-born runt of the litter. She naturally adopted the mannerisms without thinking about it, but as she aged she began to realize the advantages submission provided her with.

She is quite sneaky and manipulative as she'll attempt to twist any situation to benefit her. The habit has become so ingrained in Aubrey that she'll do it without a second thought, such as suggesting and prodding until someone else might genuinely believe they came up with an idea she wanted to occur. She's not exactly mean-spirited; she doesn't want to hurt others but only wants to benefit herself with little care for those she's manipulating. Her quick tongue and sharp mind let her manipulate people so strongly. She is on the verge of mild psychopathy, but she does have her own emotions and simply puts them aside for the sake of a lie. A part of her ability to manipulate is that she is a good liar about ordinary little things; she lies compulsively and finds no problem with it. These lies are generally small but if someone were to ask Aubrey "what's the coolest thing you've ever done", she is the wolf who will have a different answer every time.

Her humor is sarcastic and dry when she opens up with someone, and in spite of all her teasing and apparent disinterest in someone once she finally makes a friend they are as important to her as her own children would be. Around strangers however, Aubrey is quiet and calculating, always analyzing and keeping herself mostly unnoticed. She will talk to people but only after watching them for long enough that she will know the outcome of their conversation as well as she can.

2.1  Ideals

Interests

  • Likes: Painting, solitude, people-watching, 'lying', a good con
  • Dislikes: Deer (the animal not the meat), dogs, weak people, idiots

Traits

Manipulative, false, self assured, narcissistic

  • Outlook: Pessimistic
  • Expression: Appears submissive but is quietly dominating through manipulation
  • Alignment: Chaotic neutral

Fears

  • A caught lie, never loving someone fully, not advancing in life

Motivations

  • Self advancement, personal satisfaction, control

Biases

  • Species: Has never met a coyote or even heard much talk of them, but she strongly dislikes dogs - dog ancestry way back when doesn't bother her though
  • Gender: Doesn't think badly of either gender, but finds men incredibly easy to manipulate
  • Sexuality: Finds homosexuality utterly useless in terms of benefiting either the pack or the wolf themselves
  • Age: Thinks of pups as tools to further the parents position

Sexuality

Aubrey is heterosexual and very much believes in monogamy, with what little experience she has to draw on. She's quick to notice when another wolf likes her and tends to lead men on regardless of her own desires because she enjoys the attention. She's not much of a romantic but she wraps a man around her finger and uses him to see to her every whim. No one has stood up to her yet, and when she finds the man that does he'll probably be the one she fiercely keeps.

Substances

She's tried alcohol and doesn't like the lack of control it gives her, and makes her feel too out of the world. Strangely enough weed is her drug of choice as it lets her see things in a new light and also spawns new ideas for her paintings. She's mostly a social smoker (never one to turn it down) but occasionally enjoys a smoke in private to think things through.

Spirituality

Aubrey doesn't believe in any higher being(s) in particular but she does believe in the basics of reincarnation. When someone dies they will be reborn somewhere else on the planet, as any creature. The way she looks at it is there is a limited number of souls in the world and they are always being recycled through the species.

3.  Relationships

3.1  Key Relations

  • Lilith: Aubrey's older sister by only a few minutes, she was born not breathing and was treasured ever since; Aubrey disliked the attention she got and teased her mercilessly, but she always watched over her and is very defensive when someone -else- is rude to her

3.2  Family:

  • Mother: Arrian
  • Father: Locke
  • Siblings: Lilith, Drake, and four unknowns from an older litter

3.3  Minor Relations

3.4  Former Relations

  • Dead and inactive characters should go here.

4.  Interaction

  • Speech: Sharp tongue with those she knows, soft sweet words with those she doesn't. When she's really excited about a lie she's telling her voice doesn't waver, but there is a strain on her words as if she can't wait for them to leave her mind.
  • Scent: Lavender, smoke, running water, all overlaid with a difficult to place sharp odor of homemade paints.

4.1  Residence

  • Secluded in the forest behind the other homes, the large house has more rooms than one wolf could ever need. Only a few rooms are properly cleaned out with the rest blocked behind furniture, out of use. On the top floor of the front "tower" the floors are splattered with paint and artistic debris. The master bedroom remains unused, while a small first floor room has bedding piled on the floor as a den. The kitchen, front living room, and pantry are in use, while 4 bedrooms, all 3 bathrooms, and the back den remain untouched.

4.2  NPCs

  • Species:
  • Age and DOB:

4.3  Abilities

Strengths

  • Painter: Taught by her mother at a young age, she's always still learning but is adept enough to call herself a painter. Prefers abstract work with layers and thickness
  • Liar/Manipulator: Self-taught, these skills go hand in hand to trick people to her benefit
  • Scent Tracking: Natural ability to track and identify scents

Weaknesses

  • Hunting: She relies on others to feed her the prey she tracks down, as well as small birds that she can sneak up on in their nests
  • Honesty: Not even a little bit good at telling the truth when it's needed
  • Fighting: She never took much interest in play fighting her litter-mates and as such just never learned; also she's teensy
  • Shifting: Was just never very good at it, and really doesn't like doing it to practice

4.4  Inventory

Trade

Aubrey makes her own paints for her personal use, but if the pack was in need of it she would be willing to sell them. For a price.

  • Offering: Homemade oil & watercolour paints, paint brushes, finished paintings, fur dyes & simple dying
  • Accepting: Human-made painting supplies, human-made pigments, bleach, scarves

Items

6.  History

Aubrey was born & raised in the deep woods of Western Ontario in a rather large pack of about 35 wolves. She was born in one of two litters that year; the alpha couple's and her parents. She had her first change at 9 months, later than all the others from her year, and was never very adept at it. Because it's trickier for her to shift she will stay in one form for a few days at a time, rather than changing throughout the day as required like so many other wolves.

She used to go hunting with her father and the pack but was never any help at taking down large prey with her small stature, and she got bored chasing down the smaller prey; but give her the smallest whiff of a scent and she can track down anything. Aubrey often started the hunt, pointed everyone in the right direction, then trotted off home to nap and wait to be called to her small but prime piece of the kill. Birds are one of her favourite common meals as she can climb up a tree and catch them by surprise more easily than chase down larger prey.

Her mother was very into using art to entertain the pups she watched, even when they were too young to shift. Aubrey was taught alongside her lesser skilled litter-mates how to mix paints from berries and oils, and craft a brush out of fine grass, and continued to hone her hobby throughout her short life. Painting was the one thing she did for herself, as a way to stop lying and put the truth to paper. Every time she starts something new she learns a new technique or trick for the next time. Her other main skill, lying, began at an early age when she got caught again and again lying about who ate the last rabbit leg, or more blatantly the colour of the sky. As she grew older she grew quieter and less questioning, as all pups do, but she did so in order to watch and hone her craft of deceit. After weeks of waiting patiently, absorbing all she could about her mother, she tried a pretty big lie about her older brother Drake being the one who broke some treasured pottery; when it worked flawlessly, in spite of his protests, she knew she had it down. From there the occasional white lie grew into the frequent white lie, before she realized that everyone in her pack knew too much about her for her to go any further with them.

And so she left home to explore the world and find a new pack full of wolves she could watch and learn from, paint with, and most importantly, spin falsehoods to. She plans to join Cercatori d'Arte once she arrives in Souls.
