1.  Appearance

??? (also, the above links don't work yet)

1.1  Build and Species

Ataxia is small for a wolf, but her frame is clearly shaped like a lupine and not a coyote. Her figure is lithe, lean, and very girlish. She was and will remain the smallest of her siblings, although she was the firstborn of this litter.

1.2  Coloration

Ataxia is a pretty mix of her parents' heritage. The coloration of her fur very closely mimics her father, and as she ages, she'll grow lighter.

The base color of her fur is is an Abbey Gray with a slightly lighter underside of Dove Gray. On top of this color, though, she has Aluminum tips and streaks through her fur. In particular, this is evident along her back, cheeks, tail and shoulders. Her face is Manatee colored.

To make sure no one will ever forget she is also a Lykoi, though, she has inherited their bright buttercup gold eyes.

Describe Lupus form. Don't forget imperial and metric (Google does this for you) sizes because not everyone can read one or the other.

Describe Secui form.

Describe Optime form. In Optime form, some characters choose to style their hair -- if this is the case, how does your character usually wear it?

1.4  Other

Modifications

  • Piercings:
    • One on each ear, at the very top.
  • Tattoos: None.
  • Scars:
    • She has the Hand of Eris on her wrist. She usually covers this up with gloves when she is traveling outside Salsola.
    • A spiral (with some smaller connected spirals) on her hip, usually hidden under a piece of scarf-like cloth that's tied to her leg; might be mistaken for a bandage. Reference: 1 2
    • ???

Accessories

  • Unless she is expecting battle, she wears a necklace with pink pearls, given to her by Magnolia Takekuro.
  • In Optime form, she also carries an iron dagger with her - usually on a belt of some sort, along with a whip.

Clothes

  • When it is cold, or when she is outside of Salsola, she can be seen wearing a black hooded cloak.
  • When traveling outside of Salsola, Ataxia wears long black gloves to cover the Hand of Eris marking on her wrist.

2.  Personality

As a child, Ataxia was a dominant personality. She was neither the largest nor the strongest, so her preferred method of domination tended to be verbal rather than physical. She had a talent for picking up on her siblings' emotional weak points and taking advantage of them; to the point that she could be called abusive. She could be loving, but such love was not expressed in a direct manner. She was more likely to express open affection to those she is not 'competing' with, such as her mother or father and was surprisingly clingy when she did not feel threatened.

She has since grown, and has learned how to hold her tongue and hide her feelings. She has not lost her capacity for cruelty, however, and has gained an increasing bitterness over her failure to hold on to those she loves. She's liable to become jealous and possessive over the few close friends she has, and does not take kindly to perceived betrayals.

2.1  Demeanor

  • When she is happy and feels she is safe, Ataxia is very talkative. When she is uncomfortable or uncertain of the situation, she is more likely to be silent or speak in a way that can be described as overly formal.
  • She tends to be very bold and arrogant to strangers or those she considers lesser than herself, while she acts more reserved and cautious to higher ranked canines.
  • Since she lacks strength, she uses her voice and words to display dominance. She has a talent for picking on others' weak points and taking advantage of them by sending cutting remarks.
  • Ataxia is aware that her body conforms to the stereotype of what a woman should be, and is slightly vain about it. Despite this, she does envy Artemisia's strength and Harrow's coyote features; though she'd never openly express such.

2.2  Ideals

Interests

  • Likes: coyotes, magic, art, shiny things, colorful things, snakes
  • Dislikes: betrayal, silence,

Traits

put traits here and separate with commas

  • Outlook: Superstitious.
  • Expression: Extroverted/Adaptive - she prefers to be dominant, but knows when to bend her knee or lower her ears.
  • Alignment: Either Lawful or Neutral Evil.

Fears

  • Losing everyone close to her, being seen as weak, powerlessness, an ignoble death

Motivations

  • Pleasing her god; gaining spiritual power; having coyote children

Biases

  • Packs: She's been raised to think of Salsola as the best and the strongest, though she does have a respect for Inferni.
  • Species: She thinks of herself as both a wolf and coyote, despite the very small amount of coyote blood she carries. She values coyotes over wolves, though in a more abstract way; she judges each coyote or wolf individually and doesn't tend to like or dislike just because of species.
  • Non-Luperci: Weak, unintelligent canines. No better than animals, in her mind. Likely to think of them as potential slaves.
  • Gender:
  • Sexuality: Because of Salsola's culture, there is very little that would shock or surprise her.
  • Age: ???

Sexuality

  • Almost entirely homosexual. She is emotionally and physically attracted to women and has little attraction to men. She is usually only interested in men when they have obvious coyote blood - and that is solely because she wants coyote babies and is evaluating them on that basis.
  • She'll flirt with men (sometimes unintentionally) but that doesn't mean she is actually interested in them.

Substances

  • Ataxia is attracted to psychoactive plants and hallucinogens; she believes that they have spiritual properties. She is very fond of tobacco, and is entirely indifferent to alcohol.

Spirituality

She has an interest in her mother's rituals, and the religion of Eterne, Atotoztli. Although it would seem contradictory for a wolf to do so, she worships the coyote god Momoztli in private. The hybrid female wishes she were a full-blood coyote herself, and regularly performs scarification rituals to cleanse herself of her wolfish blood. She also engages in regular sacrifice, in the belief that it will protect her from illness and misfortune.

3.  Relationships

3.1  Key Relations

  • Characters: Here is where you might describe especially important family members (e.g., if your character has a close, competitive relationship with a sibling, describe it here) or friendships or whatever else.

3.2  Family: Lykoi, Eternity, and D'Angelo

3.3  Minor Relations

  • Salvia Eternity - She used to idolize her elder sister, although they were never close. She treats her with some caution since her ascension to the Boss.
  • Miqui Kimaris - Ataxia hangs around him because he's Tlanti's sister, because he is the only other person who knows about her beliefs in Momoztli and because he's a coyote and if she wanted coyote babies, it'd probably end up being him.
  • Draugr Helsi - When she was younger, Ataxia treated Draugr as something of a confidant, though she did not realize Draugr shared very little in return. Her interest in Atotoztli may have made them grow apart since then; Ataxia has become obsessed with it and is somewhat self-conscious about sharing her views to a hybrid without coyote blood.
  • Artemisia Eternity - Cautiously friendly, although they're not close. Ataxia is somewhat stumped as to how to converse with someone so reticent.
  • Harrow D'Angelo - She is not sure how she should feel about sister now that she's returned to Salsola, and is cautious around her.
  • Pandemic D'Angelo - She thinks flirting with Miqui to annoy him is hilarious. Other than that, she has no opinion on him; he's been away from Salsola for most of her formative years.
  • Lokr Revlis - She perceives him to be friendly. He has taught her how to read and write, which she appreciates.
  • Sol D'Aabt - She thinks he's young and naive, but she doesn't dislike him and figures he'll get over that flaw soon enough.
  • Delphinium D'Angelo - Ataxia finds her stubbornness funny, although slightly aggravating.
  • Peregrine - Distrustful?

3.4  Former Relations

  • Tlanti Kimaris? - Ataxia was drawn to the pale coyote because of the power she held and the depth of knowledge she knew about the unseen, spiritual part of the world that Ataxia was fascinated with. She has influenced much Ataxia's spiritual beliefs, though she has long since left Salsola.
  • Magnolia Takekuro - She was Ataxia's babysitter when she was young, and so she was one of the few people she wasn't worried about accidentally showing vulnerability to. Unfortunately, she is no longer in Salsola.
  • Alessandra von Sin - This coyote hybrid was in Salsola for a short time, during which Ataxia attempted to convert her to the Atotoztli religion. She also had a puppy-crush on her, which made Ataxia rather confused and hurt when she left.
  • Wander - Ataxia used to harass this poor, blind slave.
  • Molcaxitl Yocatl - When Molca was her mother's slave, she and Draugr Helsi frequently targeted the poor slave in cruel pranks.

4.  Interaction

  • Speech: A little raspy.
  • Scent: Outside of Salsola, Ataxia smells of sea salt and tobacco.

4.1  Residence

  • Stole Tlanti's old residence, located in Salsola's Borgata Cototl.
  • The entryway is arched stone, paler than the rest of the small tower. There is a thick pelt over the inside of her door and over the staircase's uppermost portion, both to keep out winter cold and prying eyes.
  • Her bed occupies the curve next to the stairs leading to the second floor. She has a sturdy, two-drawer wooden dresser scavenged from nearby Amherst, and a chest given to her by her mother.
  • There's a whole lot of scavenged junk on the first floor. Most of it is shiny, colorful, and utterly useless. Sometimes it is sorted and placed into neat piles, but it's still junk.
  • The upper floor lacks a roof and most of its walls; only one small section of wall still stands at full height, while the rest is slowly crumbling to ruin. This part of the house is barren and free of any decor other than a small circle of stones used as a firepit in the center of the tower.
  • On the outside, there is a series of large, flat rocks for her snake to sun himself, though she only allows him to do so when she's with him.

4.2  NPCs

Nagual

  • Species: Timber Rattlesnake
  • Age 2 years
  • Description: He is dark brown (possibly melanistic, as it is common with timber rattlers) with lighter striping across most of his body. His head is arrow-shaped and his fangs are very, very long. His body is 48 inches (122 cm) and he weighs approximately 3 pounds (1.37 kg). Nahual's eyes are a paler brown-gold color.
  • Personality: Although the Timber rattlesnake is capable of delivering a fatal bite, its relatively mild disposition and clear warning of attack (typically, timber rattlers attempt to ward of predators by loud and repetitive rattling before biting).
  • Other Information: Nagual originally belonged to Tlanti Kimaris, and was left to Ataxia when she left, due the dangers the trip posed to the snake's health.

Snowflake Obsidian

  • Species: Silver Dapple Black Stallion
  • Age 8 years
  • Description: He is an almost entirely black horse, with a white/silvery mane and tail and very faint silver spots on his sides. Three on one side, above his hind-leg and five on the other side, on his flank.
  • Personality: Obsidian was taken from the Boreas wolves, after their defeat at the hands of Salsola and Inferni. Because of this, he is well-trained, calm and even tempered. He is not particularly attached to Ataxia and may take other riders - provided they smell familiar; i.e. Salsolan.

5.  Skills and Inventory

5.1  Abilities

Practical Skills

  • Hunting (Journeyman): Ataxia uses her Secui form to hunt and she is best at catching small prey, such as rabbits, when she is alone. However, she does have some experience in hunting larger prey with a group. She has some experience in catching prey and bringing it back alive, too - although she has a lower rate of success.
  • Horseback Riding & Horse Low Speech (Apprentice): Taught by her father. Ataxia understands well enough to predict her own, well-trained horse's emotions and actions. She is not terribly motivated to increase this skill, although she knows it could be beneficial to her.
  • Reading / Writing (Apprentice): Taught by Lokr Revlis. Her primary method of practice, aside from lessons from Lokr, is to read to Nagual. Her handwriting isn't great, but it somewhat helps that she is a small luperci with correspondingly small hands.
  • Fighting (Apprentice): Ataxia has some experience fighting in Seculi form; the entirety of it comes from the Boreas Conflict. Additionally, she has had some training in unarmed combat from Salvia Eternity.

Spiritual Skills

  • Scarification (Journeyman?): She has some experience in purposefully scarring herself, and has learned from her mother and Tlantli Kimaris. Additionally, she will practice new designs on still-living prey, if she's able. She has not yet figured out how to embed dye into the scars. She is good at making straight lines, and simple designs with curves or spirals.
  • Snake Handling (Apprentice): She knows how to handle venomous snakes (or, at least, her own venomous snake) without getting hurt. She also has some understanding of snake low-speech, though so far it seemed to be limited to understanding Nagual. She is, additionally, trying to learn more about them by finding books about snakes.

5.2  Abilities

Weaknesses

  • She considers showing certain emotions - like sadness - to be a weakness and tends to either suppress it or let it out when she isn't being being watched. Additionally, she is so prideful and intent on hiding her weaknesses that she does stupid things. For example, Ataxia will refuse to go to a healer when she's sick.
  • She is selfish, sometimes obviously so. She's been brought up rather spoiled, so she lacks empathy. It takes effort for her to understand the emotions of others.
  • She has a remarkable talent for getting sick. She is not just naturally thin; she has trouble keeping on weight when she goes through bouts of sickness.
  • Prone to superstition and magical thinking.

5.3  Inventory

Trade

  • Although Ataxia rarely ventures outside of Salsola, she is very much willing to trade.
  • Offering: scarification services, scavenged junk (sometimes useful: jars, cooking-ware, scraps of cloth), etc.
  • Accepting: information about snakes, things useful for Salsola, alcohol, tobacco, hallucinogens. Information in general (like, how to make plant-based dyes) might be attractive to her, depending on what it is.

Items

Household Items

  • Saddle bags obtained from the Boreas Conflict.
  • A small amount of Indian Tobacco, obtained from either her mother or Salsola's garden.
  • Molotov Cocktail, obtained from the Boreas.
  • Oil lamp
  • A plastic bowl, scavenged from Amherst
  • Cracked hand-mirror
  • Metal pot, with a small amount of rust
  • Two glass jars without lids
  • Dagger does not exist yet. Placeholder.

Clothing / Worn Items

  • Belt
  • Iron dagger, sheathed.
  • Whip, coiled and attached to belt.
  • A black hooded cloak, worn when traveling outside of Salsola or during the colder months.
  • A necklace with pink pearls, given to her by Magnolia Takekuro. Always worn, unless in battle.
  • A gold dress made of soft, supple leather. This was a gift from Siv. Not worn unless specified.

Trade / Random Junk

  • Various shells found in Nova Scotia: Periwinkles, Dog Whelks, Blue Mussel shells and New England Neptunes, and Little Slipper shells. Plus, a large amount of shell fragments.
  • Bunch of scavenged crap.

7.  History

  • Ataxia was born 24 July 2011 to Eris Eternity and Larkspur D'Angelo alongside four siblings in Salsola.
  • Her sister Shibboleth was born sickly; thus, Eris kept her young children well-hidden for the early weeks of their life. The healthy sisters were allowed out to play as they grew old enough, but Shibboleth remained inside the den, until one day Eris took Shibboleth away and did not return with her.
  • Shortly thereafter, Solanaceae was killed by what appears to be a feline attack on the edge of Salsola territory. Ataxia is aware of the truth behind Shibboleth's death -- her sickly sister was burned on a pyre to strengthen Ataxia and her living sisters, as Eris has said.
  • In February of 2012, Ataxia's sisters Artemisia and Harrow shifted. Ataxia was upset by this, as she wished to shift very badly, and was put off by her sisters' achieving it before her. Following this, she discussed it with Draugr Helsi, who reassured Ataxia about shifting and told her to let it happen naturally rather than force it.

7.1  Threads

2011

2012

  • 03 Feb: Ataxia's sisters, Harrow and Artemisia shift. Ataxia is ticked off about this and spends the next few days sulking.
  • 10 Feb: Ataxia shifts! Yay!
  • 11 Feb: Ataxia asks her mother, Eris to perform Salsola's coming-of-age ritual, Cueponi. Eris ascertains Ataxia's ability to shift, and tasks her to find "the magic of fire and water."
  • 12 Feb: Ataxia heads to Amherst, where she searches for the next two days, sustaining herself with stores of dried meat from Salsola and by hunting small mammals within the city and fishing the coastline. Eventually, she finds a community college, where she enters the geology department. Amongst the goods therein, she finds a chunk of polished blue amber alongside an unpolished chunk. She takes both pieces back to her mother, holding up the blue amber to show how it gleams orange-yellow when viewed up to a light.
