1.  Description

Once a prime tourist attraction, these sandy shores have been empty for years. The only remaining sign that men were ever here is the roadway that leads along the beach. This road grows into a highway, though much of it it has also been overcome enough by the forest. The highway remains in fragments where sections of the pavement and asphalt have shattered. The coastline along the Whisper Beach has no lack of sandy shorelines, but it is the jagged and rough coast crafted by the Bay of Fundy that dominates here. Mudflats are visible for miles during the low tide, though they posses treacherous bay mud which poses a threat to anyone who walks upon the open mudflats. Sea Stacks

2.  Landmarks

2.1  Casino Nova Scotia

Located at the very end of the highway slicing through Whisper Beach on a promontory overlooking the Bay of Fundy, the Casino Nova Scotia is a shoreside resort, hotel, and casino with various luxury features. There are almost 700 slots, as well as various table games and two sports betting room. All of this has, naturally, fallen silent since the apocalypse. Though this is relatively tucked away, it was a prime destination for humans in their time and remains so for canines today. Several low-slung buildings offer refuge on the otherwise sparsely populated north shore of the Whisper Beach area -- and provide a fantastic view of the sprawling bay besides.

2.2  Fort Kingsbury

Deep within Whisper Beach is a large human Fort. The Fort is made up of tall stone walls which make up a circle and metal barred gates held closed with chains. Within the Fort is a small village containing various sized houses, a library, Courthouse, and a horse race track. This is the current residence of all Casa di Cavalieri members.

3.  Waterways

3.1  Bay of Fundy

The Bay of Fundy is a large bay of the Atlantic Ocean, separating Nova Scotia from New Brunswick. The bay has a tremendous effect on both provinces coastlines and climates. The upper part of the bay splits into Chignecto Bay in the northeast and the Minas Basin in the east, past Cape Split in the Whisper Beach area.

3.2  Minas Basin

The Minas Basin is the easternmost area of the Bay of Fundy. Drifter Bay sits to the north, with The Dampwoods and Whisper Beach to the south. The Minas Basin is defined by the huge headland area in Whisper Beach, known as Cape Split; a narrow channel, known as the Minas Channel, separates the Minas Basin from the rest of the Bay of Fundy.

Sediments in the basin, which are brought in and deposited by tides, range from coarse sand to fine silt and clay -- and contribute to the thick, brown color of the waters. No other coastal marine area has such a large proportion of its floor exposed at low tide. This results in large mudflats at low tide, consisting of thick, sinking bay mud (thick deposits of soft, unconsolidated silty clay, which is saturated with water -- often running) that can easily trap a canine, horse, or other heavy creature.

  • Minas Channel
Though one can view the opposite shore from Cape Split on a clear day, the extreme volume of water flowing through the narrow point of the deep, 5-kilometre (3.1 mi) -wide channel Minas Channel makes for incredibly dangerous tides. At mid-tide, the currents exceed 8 knots (4-metre (13 ft) per second). The flow on the north side of Cape Split equals the combined flow of all the rivers and streams on Earth together (about 4-cubic-kilometre (0.96 cu mi) per hour.).
  • Southern Bight
The southerly area of the Minas Basin, the Southern Bight, has Overgrowth Sunrise to the west and Whisper Beach to the east. The Southern Bight is 59% estuary mudflats, 34% marine flatlands, 7% salt marsh, and less than 1% sandy beach.
  • Cobequid Bay
The small, narrow piece of the larger Minas Basin that extends into The Waste. The Cobequid Bay, similar to the Shepody Bay in the Chignecto Bay, receives the brunt of the Bay of Fundy's tides. The coastlines are sharp, stark headlands that rise over mudflats -- or just barely contain the baywaters, depending on the tide.

3.3  Kennetcook River

The Kennetcook, a swift river that picks up many of the streams and rivulets within the The Dampwoods, cuts through limestone close to the coast. Its currents are much swifter near its outflow in the western part of the Whisper Beach area, east of the Southern Bight. Fast currents aside, the Kennetcook still experiences the tidal bore common among the Bay of Fundy's rivers. Salmon frequent the Kennetcook when spawning.

4.  Islands

4.1  Oyvind Island

Sitting north of Whisper Beach in the Southern Bight of the Minas Basin is Oyvind island. Although when the waves are rough one must be a strong swimmer to reach the island, it is well worth the journey. Receiving its name from the constant gusts of wind that barrel down on the island, the only refuge one has from the wind is in the center of the island where tall trees and large boulders protruding from the earth offer shelter. Here, many birds make their home, ranging from seagulls, to sparrows, to hawks; since the island is not large enough to sustain any predators the island has become somewhat of a bird sanctuary. On days when the wind is more of a gentle breeze it is quite pleasurable to lay by the shore and bird watch the myriad of species that call this island home.

5.  History

5.1  Claimed Land

  • Oyvind Island was claimed by Dahlia de Mai from 2008 to 2011.
  • Whisper Beach was claimed in entirety by Casa di Cavalieri from approximately 2012 to the present day.

6.  Notes

  • Only two Casino Nova Scotias exist in Nova Scotia, and both would have been built after 1988 (making them irrelevant in 'Soulsverse -- as they're unique, however, they were included despite their belated building).
