Versailles

Versailles (pronounced "Ver-sayls" by its inhabitants) is a small community of Luperci in the middle of a bunch of hills central Kentucky. Its population is almost constantly in flux, with few permanent residents ( members the Versailles family being the exception), and there is no dominant species (though it has been overrun by wolves and coywolf hybrids, of late). Its primary economy is agriculture (tobacco, marijuana, horses, cattle, and a small group of alpacas) and trade with occasional passers-by. They are wary of strangers, but it is not difficult to strip one's stranger status in the eyes of the Versailles matriarch, Morning. It is she who governs the community.

Paradoxically, Versailles in reference to the family is pronounced correctly - "Vers-eye".

1.  Essentials

1.1  Geography

Rolling hills and old farmland. The land dips into a great gorge in the south where there used to be a great river. Young forests have begun to crop up in some areas, and most of the fields are overgrown.

1.2  Climate

Hot during the summer, cold during the winter. The climate is predictable and mild except during the spring, when there are tornados. It doesn't rain much in the summer, but when it does, it storms. They don't get much snow during the winter.

1.3  Flora and Fauna

White-tail deer, bobcat, fox, semi-wild horses, rattlesnakes (and other venomous snakes), armadillo, deciduous trees

2.  Culture

The Luperci in Versailles are moderately humanized in that they use what human tools they can to farm. They have no special culture because the residing body shifts so often, but the Versailles family dictates what is acceptable or not acceptable. This, too, shifts.

2.1  Species

The Versailles family consists of wolves and coywolves, but the rest of the population varies. Dogs are usually the minority.

Luperci & Shifting

All permanent residents are Luperci and tend to stay in Optime, but occasional non-Luperci visitors pass through with little fuss. Those who want to stay for extended periods of time must work - and to work, one must have thumbs.

Languages

The Versailles family speaks English, only, as do most other inhabitants. It is mildly accented, and only the syntax can be considered truly "southern." Occasionally a visitor will come speaking a different language, but none of them spread.

Technology

A few old farm tools have been salvaged (antique tills and hoes), and are used. Otherwise, the farmers do everything by hand without much innovation. They wear clothing (if any) made entirely of animal products.

Alcohol Production

Malcolm Versailles has figured out how to make a rudimentary alcohol of corn traded for from another community further west, most similar to mash. It's a rare drink, reserved only for special occasions (births and deaths).

Residence

Members of the Versailles family directly related to Morning reside in an old barn together. Those more derived have built rough cabins around the barn. Temporary residents make do with tents or shanties.

Practices & Traditions

The Versailles community is work-oriented, leaving little time for traditions or common practices.

2.2  Outsider Relations & Travel

Travel

Outsiders generally come upon Versailles by accident, or from the local area by word of mouth. It would take the better part of a year to get to the 'Souls playable area from Kentucky/

Outsiders

How do canines regard outsiders? Are they a cohesive, tightly-knit group or are they a quarrelsome group, prone to outbursts of disobedience or even "mutiny? If there are any civilizations that are nearby with which your area interacts, you can give them a subheader under here, even.

3.  Structure

3.1  Leaders

The farm is governed by Morning Versailles and her sister, Evening (though Morning is indisputably in charge). They don't really have to make many decisions regarding the group - most decisions made have to do with the farm.

3.2  Law & Justice

If a visitor commits a crime they're simply sent away. Nothing big has happened in Versailles, really, so Morning hasn't thought about it much.

4.  Religion

Pretty much nonexistent. Evening is a loose Christian, and one of their nephews believes he can hear spirits.

Symbols

The fences and trees in the area around the farm by a two mile radius is marked by the hobo sign for "http://i3.cpcache.com/product/268868638/hobo_sign_go_march_on_tile_coaster.jpg?height=460&width=460&qv=90go," pointing to the center of the territory. The Versailles family regards it as their personal symbol.

5.  Significant Families

5.1  Family Name

The Versailles family first settled the farm, and claim to own the territory.

6.  History

6.1  Significance

If your area has a particular influence on 'Souls (e.g., a large number of immigrants come from this area, or a pack was founded on the basic beliefs of this area) write about it here! List any families that originate in your area:

6.2  History

If there was a massive war or other large scale occurrence here, you may include it here, however, please keep in mind that these events don't have a lot of meaning for characters who did not originate from the place during that time. A generalized summary is much better.
