Spotlight Soul 2022

1.  Winners

1.1  January - Baelfire Flynn

Since joining New Caledonia, Baelfire Flynn has made a name for himself in a big way. Despite being a newcomer, he has gone to extraordinary lengths to demonstrate his skills as a healer and herbalist. In addition to this, Baelfire's role as a pathfinder has become apparent in and around the pack's borders. With a dangerous threat looming over New Caledonia, his efforts are needed more than ever -- something made all the more difficult when suspicion encircles the pack's newcomers.

1.2  February - Cent od Pepela

Cent od Pepela's shenanigans have been exceptionally fun to keep up with, between her conspiracy theories as to whom all are wrapped up in romantic entanglements, attempting to bring her new, very stubborn mule to heel, or engaging with a plot uncovering a small-scale illness outbreak with Del Cenere's wildlife. Not only that, but she's come to terms with embracing more of her identity, and claiming herself a last name as homage to the gang!

1.3  March - Theodore Reeves

Once a veritable tumbleweed of a man, Theodore Reeves was a fellow used to a life on the road - he took up pack life with Del Cenere alongside a companion, and settled into a somewhat quiet and understated life. He's made himself something of a regular presence in Charmingtown, helping out with the local livestock and playing cards with patrons of the Ugly Coyote. He's recently begun to come out of his shell more and lent a hand during the snowstorms, and, that's nothing to say of his growing affinity for the waifish Whisper Mayflower; his pursuits in his interpersonal relationships have been an interesting read as he's come to take root in his new life! We are really interested to see how his relationships and history unfold.

1.4  April - Ciri Armistice

The Spotlight Soul for April is Ciri Armistice. A young loner, Ciri's past was plagued by misfortune and violence. After escaping these horrors, she set out to locate her long-lost brother and found herself in 'Souls. Since her arrival, Ciri has been traveling throughout the lands looking for clues to his whereabouts as well as meeting her fair share of locals and other travelers alike. Despite her plucky attitude, the life of a loner is full of hardships – will she be able to keep her spirits up as her quest continues? Will she find the information she needs to locate her twin? Only time will tell!

1.5  May - Aani Aston-D'Noires

There are very few long-standing villains that stick around on 'Souls, and fewer still that end up effecting more than just one or two other played characters the way that Aani Aston-D'Noires did. Aani's beginning in 'Souls started off as a girl who was unhappy beneath her mother's thumb. When she ran away from Bete Noir, she found a home amongst the Thistle and Thorns, and, it was there that she thrived and grew. Outwardly, she was a perfect fit with her ambitious and conniving nature. In a place known for its secrets, however, Aani, perhaps, harbored some of the darkest herself. Those that she cherished withered beneath her poisonous touch, but her villainous ways went unnoticed and undetected for months. When her terrible acts were discovered, however, she fled, remaining free — albeit, constantly looking over her shoulder — for months before she was finally apprehended. After two years of lies, thievery, murder, and other unforgivable acts, this salmon-eyed monster finally met her end. Having effected the lives of so many, it will be interesting to see where they go in the wake of Aani's demise!

1.6  June - Casimir Soul

Selfless and kindhearted, Casimir Soul's quiet life has become quite loud as of late; from agreeing to a marriage in an attempt to help someone save face, to having to yearn for a love he may (currently) never have, to dealing with his cousin Lyra's constant badgering about his personal affairs. He's become a stepfather and husband, and while he may not share any blood relation to the pups in his care, nor any romantic interest in the woman he has taken for a wife, it's clear that Casimir cares for them as if they were, truly, a family. It'll be interesting to see where his life goes next!

1.7  July - Willow Martel

Willow Martel has settled into the Gang quickly following their arrival from Palisade! A youngster overcoming a rough-and-tumble past, Willow has gone from taking what he can to survive to making strides into truly becoming part of a larger group. Whether it's offering a helping hand, celebrating the pack's birthday, or just chatting up new or familiar faces, Willow can be found all over engaging in his community!

1.8  August - Battalion

Newcomer Battalion has recently arrived in the region and already become a familiar face to some of the locals. An exile from her birthplace, Battalion lived a nomadic life with a band of traders for several seasons before deciding to go her own way. Since her arrival in 'Souls, she's encountered characters from all over and explored plenty sections of the province in her travels. Now that she's decided to stay and lay down some roots, what will the future hold?

1.9  September - Pandora Knight

The firstborn of her large litter, Pandora Knight has gone through quite a journey for someone so young. Born after an eventful period of time in Casa di Cavalieri's long history, Pandora was able to enjoy the perks that came with being the daughter of one of the pack's leaders. She and her siblings were raised with help from their tremendous extended family and packmates, and able to participate in the inaugural Youth Fair held by their pack. However, not all was to remain pleasant, as in the summer she and her siblings were kidnapped by a group called The Ember League and held at ransom. Though rescued, the cost was high: one of Pandora's brothers was lost to the sea, and presumed dead. In the aftermath, Pandora and her family have struggled to contend with their grief and the absence left in the wake of the tragedy. Will she sink into despair, or rise above the tribulations she has faced?

1.10  October - Haytham Bornhardt

October's Spotlight Soul is Haytham Bornhardt! As a loner, he stumbled into 'Souls territories, and, into Charmingtown. There, he was immediately put to the grindstone when it came to the good-natured fun of competition. Muddling his way through dealing with an antsy horse, and suffering a nosebleed and a bit of a rattling on his first event, he's navigated blows to his confidence with a certain panache. His endearing mannerisms of a Southern Gentleman have made him something of a social butterfly, as well, and he's interacted with a great many people in such a short amount of time! Now that the hustle and bustle of the large event has ended, how will Haytham handle the culture and complexities of a new environment?

1.11  November - Aidan Blacksun

Aidan Blacksun was born a Massacre, and has come a long way from his roots as the son of two very chaotic and very violent individuals hailing from Anathema. With them as his earliest influences, Aidan's childhood had the makings of molding him into a very dark and bloodstained shadow in this world. His journey, however, eventually landed him in Salsola, and, there, his training in fighting and killing others left Aidan to hollowly pursue the only thing he knew, and the only thing that he knew that he did best.

He rose in the ranks, was adopted into House Blacksun, became one of Salsola's prized combatants, but he found himself lacking in understanding emotions and social cues and norms. The help of a mute servant, Silas, aided him in navigating such complexities. Conflict after conflict, Aidan has proven his worth to the Thistle Kingdom, and, as the months have gone by, he's learned bit by bit of how to interact with others and understand more about himself. In recent times, he's finally found a calling that has nothing to do with his skills with a knife or bloodshed; he's made strides to pursue something; he's finally started to come out of his stoic and emotionless shell. But, for all Silas' lessons and teachings, he still feels like he's missing something.

Will Aidan be able to see that what he's missing...has been right beside him all along?

1.12  December - Egregore Prizmov

After a full year of membership in Salsola, Egregore Prizmov has truly made a name not only for himself but for his family. Originally from Moscow, Egregore was brought up in a truly diabolical cult where violence and death were the norm, though he managed to escape this during his adolescence. Traveling under an alias, he expanded his skills until violence once again forced him to flee. It was not long after this that he arrived in North America. In the months that followed Egregore would come to join the Thistle Kingdom, where he quickly put forth efforts to prove himself, participating in the Liberation of New Caledonia and permanently taking on the pack's symbol, the Hand of Eris, as a show of loyalty.

In time, Egregore would take on a servant, and find his kin -- including his now-mate, Innokentiy. His skills continued to grow and he participated in several smaller missions throughout the year, developing a reputation as an herbalist (and to those in the know, an assassin). Shortly after his wedding, Egregore both became a father and was named a Shield Apprentice. ,

With his new position, a fledgling House now established in the Thistle Kingdom, and young children to raise, Egregore has plenty of work ahead of him. Will he continue to rise to task, or will these new pressures prove disastrous?
