Salsola's Communal Storage
![]() The main communal storage area was built into the ground in the country-like outskirts of the Ruins, and more or less acts as a half-way point between the Ruins and the closest village, Millstone. |
On this page... (hide)
Located in the far, outer-reaching countryside of the Ruins, and within a small hike from Millstone Village, a small hump of land hunkers against the loch's stiff breeze along the Southern Coastline. At first, it may seem to be the average esker or drumlin, just another patch of land showing signs of past glaciation. Upon closer inspection, however, one realizes there is a thick and heavy oak door in the hillside itself, half-disguised by overgrowth from the hillock it sits within. Disguised in this way from any non-Salsolan eyes, the Storage unit is better described as an underground bunker than it is a shed or a house. Due to the nature of being enclosed on all sides by earth, it is exceptionally good at maintaining an even, low temperature year-round; making it perfect for the storing of treated or preserved foods. Sectioned by category, it is an orderly, monitored affair. Salsola's storage unit is a singular room despite how the space may feel being divided up as it is. The pack uses this area to store public goods such as dishes, dried plants, or anything else they're comfortable sharing. One will find that there are sturdy, wooden shelving units that line the walls and may even double as dividers within the room. There are also organizational cupboards and drawers, stacked crates and baskets, hefty barrels, and even the occasional trunk or chest for storage. Lighting consists of a few strategically placed lanterns that are hung off of hooks from the ceiling, and are fueled by candlelight that can be lit at one’s convenience. However, most may find it easier to simply leave or prop the door open if they’re not in need of anything towards the back or far corners of the storage unit. The communal storage is where Salsolans will generally find items that are free to take, borrow, or, can be traded on behalf of the Kingdom. Members of the Merchant Faction are likely to find the most use out of this page as they help the Kingdom’s communal wealth grow. All Salsolans are, of course, more than welcome to donate items that they no longer have need for, are in excess of, or as a way of showing their contributions back to the community and pack. Salsolans with goods that are pilfered, strong-armed, or obtained via blackmail from Outsiders are also free to donate them here! Donations are greatly appreciated, and decidedly wealthy ones may even earn a Salsolan recognition from their peers, or, at the very least, a glance or two in one’s way ;) Upkeep of the communal storage facilities fall under the duties of the Merchant Faction, however, Merchants may also regularly work with other factions to ensure proper stockage of the other public storage facilities as well. Other major storage areas found in the Thistle Kingdom include:

1. Usage
In an effort to provide the greatest variety of “current” content without having to constantly do maintenance on this page, many of the items listed here are what could possibly be found during any particular visit. Many items are grouped under a broader, all-encompassing item name instead of specific ones (eg. “Furs” vs. “Beaver Fur”). Most items are also given an at-max, vague quantity instead of absolute values (eg. “Small supply” vs. “x05”) to allow stock to fluctuate fluidly between additions or removals of individual items. This system also allows for items to come into existence only if specifically mentioned in threads. This can mean that you, the player, can control specific scenarios to fit your writing needs! Be it notating low/overabundance of stock, or, interacting with a particular, unique item when visiting, borrowing, or adding/taking from Storage! With over 120 possible items to interact with or take inspiration from, the possibilities are endless! And, remember, there are other storage locations too (albeit, many of the items that are claimable/tradable can only be found here, at the communal storage unit).

2. Inventory
Items are notated with a tradability value which indicates how Salsolans should more or less perceive an item’s worth when trading with or for the Kingdom. Donations to the communal storage need not necessarily apply, however, this system may help with knowing what items are more desirable than others! Of course, this system is just a general guideline for your writing convenience, and particularly high or low-quality items may, obviously, elevate or lower their individual worth, as will the presence of other items offered or received in a trade.
