➵ Del Ceneren History
This page is for the catalog, summarization, and historical record for the Del Cenere Gang, organized by yearly events beneath the governance of each Rey Salvaje. For convenience’s sake, each year is divvied up by calendar year, rather than by the Gang’s foundation date.
Players are more than welcome (and even encouraged!) to contribute their threads to our historical resource here, add their offspring, deaths, or other records on this page.
1. Founding Ideals
Driven by a desire for mutual safety, support, and community since lost, the Del Cenere Gang was founded by a duo of loner bands: The Cartel and the Drygrass Posse. Both bands were comprised largely of coyotes and coyote hybrids, and sought to continue their population as such
Between the Drygrass Posse’s own history experiencing conflict and prejudice from wolves, and The Cartel’s background of predominantly displaced Infernians, they continued on the pre-existing cultural bias of the defunct Coyote clan – though their own predilections on non-coyotes were more lax than that of Inferni’s views on dogs and dog-dominant hybrids. As such they considered themselves more inclusive – if only superficially so, as only those with coyote blood have been permitted to hold ranks in the Ashen Ring.
The Del Cenere Gang – whilst rife with minor conflicts of its own - was founded less with the notion of combat in mind, and more so in line with the train of thought of homesteading and bolstering trade throughout the region as opposed to its war faring roots that predated its existence. Determined to make themselves a foothold, the Gang started productions of alcohol, tobacco and marijuana early on and have since expanded their repertoire further in the ambitious goal of trade-mogul status throughout the territories. As such, they are non-scrupulous over substances, snake oil, or the means in how to get the best deal, twisting the word ‘honor’ to better fit their narrative and by means of manipulation towards prospective trade partners. Underhanded dealings are not uncommon – but, as it stands, it’s all in good business.

After the disbandment of Inferni, the loner band of The Cartel was formed. The coyotes soon migrated to the north, having left behind their old camp in the Dampwoods, losing and gaining others before and after their move. When arriving on the former lands of Freetown, it was here that they not only gained more numbers, but meet with another traveling band of coyotes, the Drygrass Posse headed by Santiago Tejada. Upon the discovery of their long time enemy, Salsola, had someone that knew of their location, the coyotes were forced to gather all their things and migrate further to the north. The Cartel settled down along the shores of Moosehead Lake while the Drygrass Posse settled at the foot of the Burnt Church Mountains. Soon after the two loner bands had adjusted back to their lives in their new homes, they began to discover some strange oddities around their home. Fresh abandoned camps, strange hunts, and other such turn outs. These events were soon discovered to be connected to a band of Southerner wolves and a Boreas defunct: Dolores Kasper, Solomon James, Belladonna James, Arlo Dunaway, and Pippin Hamer, with Solomon acting as the leader for this small group. They had begun hassling the local coyote population, even making a bold statement by killing Calhoun Escuella and returning his body to their camp with his horse. At the peak of this threat, the two loner bands met together, deciding it would be best for them to come together as one to deal with the wolves. After much discussion among the individual members, and some making a statement of their own with Pippin's body, the coyotes fully agree to the joining of one another, founding what would then be known as the Del Cenere Gang. Throughout the summer, the newly-founded group bolstered in numbers and built up a trade-hub within their territory lingering close towards their border. Charmingtown, as it was named, became a bustling heart for the Gang, full of activity and with opportunity to allow outsiders to come and barter or trade for goods. Late summer, Boone Winthrop, Comandante, left on a two-week trade expedition, where he came across Palisade, and the Del Mar family, forging a beneficial trade alliance with their new, southern neighbors. Following a collapse of Charmingtown's storage building, the Del Mar came to assist at the expense of a higher tithe. |

2.2 Year Two

A post-Bautizo feast ends in tragedy as Boone's tobacoo crop is completely destroyed and Luciana Escuella is nowhere to be found. Investigation finds that the most likely culprits are missing siblings Ash and Thelma del Mar, in retaliation for trouble with the supply line. A group finds an encampment in the southwest border of Del Cenere's territory and leave to report their findings to leader Nazario del Bosque immediately. Opting for fast action over deliberation, Boone rushes forth in attempt to bring in the camp residents. While he and his group manage to take Marilyn alive as prisoner, the same could not be said for her father, Ulysses Courtright. Lead by Nazario, a party makes the decision to meet with Carlos del Mar in order to peacefully exchange Marilyn for Luciana, however the trade off doesn't go as planned, resulting in the death of their prisoner and an attempt on the Rey's life. Ash is taken into custody while an injured Lyssa Fontaine is escorted back to town for medical attention. Santiago Tejada gathers a small group in attempt to rescue his kidnapped daughter while other Ashen encounter combative Del Mars. While Luciana is retrieved from her captors and Carlos del Mar is slain, the party from Del Cenere are not without loss; Peony Braithwaite goes into early labor, others are injured, and Ronald Winthrop is killed. A funeral is held in his honor. Ash del Mar is eventually executed for his crimes, having been previously imprisoned at The Drunk Barrel and pressed to give up the information concerning the Del Mar's camp. Driven by guilt, Boone Winthrop steps down as Comandante and turns to solace as a barman at The Ugly Coyote. |

2.3 Year Three
![]() | Thread Log ⬎ | Information |
A year of burgeoning growth, Del Cenere returned to a mild and tentative sense of normalcy. Ambitious Ashen took a look at the surrounding Ganglands, and set to shaping it more intensively and purposefully, completing out the Gardens in Irving, implementing an apiary, and making tangible efforts towards communal benefit. With these intrepid ideas coming into fruition, Syndicates were formed, each with specific delegations in the fields of their craft and lending authority and credence to the Ashen Ring, which saw its first members step into their ranks late summer and fall. This marked a change with the Rey Salvaje, who began to place trust in his fellow Ashen, and felt comfortable delegating tasks with these proven confidants. In the late summer, Del Cenere opened its territory for its first large-scale Lancaster Stockshow – providing a great deal of bounty for the Gang as well as mutual benefit for visiting loners and dignitaries of visiting packs. This wealth, however, drew the gaze of covetous thieves – and, shortly after the event, Pirate Calloway spearheaded a raid against Del Cenere. Thanks to Fredrick Knight’s decisive action, though, the raid was quickly thwarted, and though the thieving Pirate absconded, his crew was shattered. Late in the year, mate to the relatively high-ranking Azade Feriqi, Fernando, was murdered brutally in cold blood, his killer vanishing just as quick as they had appeared. With precious little to go off of, the Gang failed to bring justice for this grave act. An uneasy winter settled in, and as the end of the year crept closer, some wildlife in the territory exhibited signs of illness. |

2.4 Year Four
![]() | Thread Log ⬎ | Information |
The beginning of the year was a muted one – quiet and reflective amongst the Gang as the new year was welcomed in less with fanfare and more with quiet acceptance. Ill wildlife continued to pock the territory, drawing attention from concerned gang members, and, by manner of her first decree as second-in-command, Peony Braithwaite, now Bella Dama, issued a call to action to find and eradicate a handful of these animals before the disease could spread further into Del Cenere. With the number – for the time being – staunched, Del Cenere welcomed a reprieve in weather and minor misfortunes with an event, sponsored by Paninya, in an event to get lonely Ashen co-mingling with one another. Shortly thereafter, however – the weather turned for the worst; piled under with snow, Del Cenere experienced losses in infrastructure, livestock, and the gang’s preacher, Resurrection de le Poer. With precious little time to take stock on all that was stolen by the blizzards, a heat wave ushered in rapid thaw – bringing with it further loss as the territory proceeded to flood with copious rainfall, spring run-off, and swollen waterways. In its wake, blooms of mold, mildew, and insects ran rampant, all overtaking the worst areas the waters had been left sitting. What remained of sick wildlife were purged in the wake of the floods. With so many displaced, the Gang began on new housing projects around higher, more stable ground. Throughout the summer, Barrios sprang up in Irving and the Parish and Charmingtown quieted for the time being as it dried. Once settled, Del Cenere's denizens returned to the trade hub, and sought to reinvigorate it by fixing the properties which remained, and upgrading the Lancaster Stockyard. Foundries began - proper workshops with which the Ashen could utilize communally to both work and barter off their goods to prospective buyers, and, by the time these changes had finally settled, Del Cenere opened its borders once again for the Lancaster Stockshow. |
