Cour des Miracles lies on the east coast of Nova Scotia, all the way from the Witch's Cauldron down to the Shiloh hills. There are many old roads left in the territory, though the major one left is marked on the map. The original claim curled around the Shattered Coast and the Witch's Cauldren, which were part of a massive cliff by the sea, spanning a great range of the Eastern coast. The territory slopes down to rocky beaches along the South Eastern coast.

Members are encouraged to live at the Chien Hotel, which features many available rooms despite extensive damage on the upper two floors. Other places to live are houses in the higher portions of Lunenburg, as much of the coastal area was damaged or destroyed by the flooding resulting from the Meteor in 2016. The meteor also destroyed a vast majority of the cliffside and outlaying islands, forcing the pack to move back toward the interior of southern Nova Scotia. Now perched between two expanded lakes, it has more working land despite extensive damage to the shoreline.

1.  Sub-Territories

1.1  Northern Wood

Kodiak Pass

A portion of the forest located near the most northern part of CDM. The most unnerving feature about this area is the seemingly endless path that travels directly through the growth. One could get briefly lost if they aren’t certain which way they entered. Portion of it was burned in the war with Inferni in 2015. In reality, it is a vastly wooded forest that covers the majority of the northern portion of the pack's claim.

Shattered Coast

Arbres de la Falaise

While the rocky shore is a turn-off for many, it is in this area that the best fishing spots are found. A daring fisherman might also find several prime crabbing areas. For the explorers, a multitude of ocean caves line the shore, some of which are only accessible during low tide. There were also hundreds of little islands just off shore. If one follows the downward slope away from the caves, they'll find a thin plain area before crossing into thickly wooded territory.

2016 Meteor: Much of the outcroppings were destroyed in the Meteor, leaving the coast severely reduced and a little less dramatic than it was before. It starts from Lunenburg to the top of the pack's claim.

The sheer walls of the cliffs that rise majestically above the crashing waves support a second, verdant world above them. To those willing to make the arduous climb, or hike around the imposing stone, there is a lush forest thriving at the top. Prey animals such as deer and rabbits have bred uninterrupted for too many moons, so the land is ripe with natural resources.

1.2  The Long Road Territories

A long stretch of freeway turf lies broken, cracked, and overgrown. However, it is easy to make out and still marks a very clear path through a good portion of the pack's territories. While this is its unofficial name, the road is a common marker for position.

Chien Hotel

Check the residencies page for maps of available rooms!

A large several story abandoned Hotel that is located just off the beach at the western side of the territory. Chien Hotel is in good condition, it has a few broken windows and minor repairs are definitely needed, but otherwise this is the main headquarters of pack. Hidden within the thick trees as it has a large metal gate surrounding it, this gives the hotel a dark but powerful look. Among the many rooms and hall ways it has a large basement and wine cellar. The hotel has four floors, the top three consisting of many rooms on each floor, and the first floor including general rooms, such as the kitchen, the dining room, and the foyer. There are courtyards in the center of each wing, and these often serve as emergency meeting spots.

Damage: Floors three and four of the Hotel are damaged, from water, snow, and heavy winds. They are unoccupied and are too dangerous to do so, as well as risky to explore. Part of the fourth floor is completely exposed to the elements.

Niobara Stables and Racetrack

Shinshu Temple

Nestled in the Cour des Miracles' territory is the Niobrara Racetrack and Stables. In the days of the humans it was a popular place to go watch the races and gamble, but it has been neglected ever since the once dominant race's demise. Despite that, it has weathered considerably well. The oblong track is still visible, though covered in overgrown grass and weeds. The stadium seating is also still intact, though hardly safe. The stables are the real treasure trove of Niobrara however. The stalls are still intact and can easily accommodate at least fifty horses. There are also plenty of bridals, blankets, and saddles to be found. It is the perfect place to house and train a horse.

Frequently a victim of the weather, the stables and track have been repaired several times over so the original material is not likely to be the majority of the construction.

Upon nearing the Shinshu Temple, there is an essence of silence. Peace was sought by all those that once journeyed to pray within the walls of the Great Hall, and of those dedicated to the Four Noble truths that lived within the Monastery. Though now the silence no longer comes from the quiet souls who once occupied this revered temple but from the awe and reverence held by those rare visitors lucky enough to find it.

A structure built to replicate those in its native Japan, the temple is comprised of weather worn wood with peaked roofs. Its paint had been chipped and washed away, the once ornate design faded but still recognizable to those that look close enough. An intact rust red bridge leads one over the pond that sits before the temple, and in summer lily pads, ducks and swans call the small mirror lake home. Statues and paintings line the walls of the Great Hall along with the written doctrine of those who once worshiped here.

The King's Cellar

The Training Grounds

Located in a central location for easy access for all of the pack. Once an old cement basement or cellar room of some sort, the wood structure that was above ground level has been torn down. The lumber re-purposed to build a smokehouse for preserving meat and the cool, covered cellar used for storage.

North of the stables and across the steam lays a log cabin that was built by members of the pack and once residence of Anann. While it is lightly wooded to the front of the cabin, in the back there is a large clearing. The naturally level ground making a great practice area all types of physical skills. Even some wooden cross dummies have been erected for practice with armed combat. The armory is located here as well, where the pack weapons are stored and maintained.

Lunenburg

Notre-Dame Cathedral

The port town of Lunenburg lies on the western part of Mahone Bay, the harbor still holds all sorts of seaworthy vessels from tiny dingies to fishing boats and even swift schooners. Tourism was one of Lunenburg's main sources of income in the reign of humans and that still shows with the number of restaurants, inns, hotels and shops that use to serve the tourist trade. From the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic, and HB Studios, to the Lunenburg Opera House there's something for everyone.

2016 Meteor: The Meteor brought massive winds and a powerful tsunami to the town. Already damaged from flooding and storms, the entire harbor is gone and most of the closest houses are damaged beyond repair. Further inland buildings are still possible to fix, though leadership suggests finding a home elsewhere.

North of Lunenburg lay the crumbling ruins of a large Roman Catholic church. The stone walls are partially caved in, and many of the colorful stained glass windows have been shattered by the weather. The eastern wing, however, is largely intact and safe for exploration, with interesting artifacts such as a pipe organ and statues. Luperci unfamiliar with human religions may mistake the once-majestic structure for a castle. The outer lawns house a cemetery, home to scores of weathered tombstones bearing French names. Wild roses have overgrown many of the graves, and the thorny vines are beginning to creep inside the ruins as well, pulling it apart stone by stone.

1.3  Les Champs d'Or

Field of Gold. Close to the western border and the Calico Grove lay a series of rolling hills blanketed almost entirely by sunflowers. These hardy perennials bloom throughout the summer, making the hills appear gold and giving them their evocative name. At the right angle on a summer's day, one can see nothing but blue sky and golden field, just like the pack colors of Cour des Miracles. Once autumn arrives, wild birds and rodents come in droves to harvest the treasure trove of seeds left behind. This area is really quite large, and encompasses a number of smaller locations within it. Flowers are a common occurrence in all of these places.

The Fairy Lights

Calico Grove

Located between Lunenburg and the western border of the kingdom, there are large fields in the woods. In the spring and summer, wild flowers erupt in the fields with bright colors abound from the species brought from Europe decades ago. When darkness sets in during the warm months, fireflies rise up and fill the fields with small lights as they enjoy the weather. One of the fields houses a gazebo and old wooden love seat swing. A path of cobble stone leads to nowhere, giving base to the story that the fairies built the gazebo and swing as a gift to those who loved the Fairy Lights.

2016 Meteor: Not destroyed entirely, the Meteor ripped the roof off the gazebo. However, the rest of the field is intact, as well as the base of the structure.

Deep within the territory of Cour des Miracles lies a small grove of tightly-packed trees, a large open space found in the center. The trees are of varying types and come in a large variety of contrasting colors, particularly in the fall, giving this grove its name. It is difficult to see through the trunks from the outside of the grove to the inside, making it an ideal place for quiet thinking or secret meetings. Butterflies and dragonflies are common here in the spring, as well as many different species of birds, but it is not the home of many prey animals.

Jardins de Rêves

For more information, see Jardins de Reves.

A new meeting place found by Alder and shown to Silvano. It is an old area with only walls remaining that has been slightly renovated to provide the pack with a meeting spot. Flowers dot the area in spring and summer, though it is a little desolate during the cold winter months.

1.4  Beaches

While the coast has been reduced, the beaches were also pushed back somewhat. However, they still remain in the general location they were at previously, on the southern coastline of the Court.

Jarris Beach

Shimmer Beach

Though there is a dusting of sand, this part of the beach is, for the most part, made up entirely of rocks, with much of the ground being covered by small, smooth pebbles, and the occasional larger ones. A few flat, short boulders are scattered along the length of the beach, and are a nice place to bask in the sun. The water proves to be a good place to swim during the hot months of summer, and when food is scarce in the winter, it can provide a steady supply of shellfish to sustain the wolves, if they don’t mind standing in the icy water to get to them.

Shimmer beach gained its name from the bountiful amounts of sea glass found upon the beach. It has many uses for jewelry and trade, though it can be difficult to work with. Many use it simply for decoration. It is considered a great trade commodity.

  • Most common: kelly green, brown, white(clear), and purple(clear).
  • Least common: jade, amber, golden amber or amberina, lime green forest green, and ice- or soft blue.
  • Rare: Purple, citron, opaque white , cobalt and cornflower blue, Grey pink black, red orange teal aqua.

1.5  Lakes

The lakes experienced boosts in their radius thanks to the earthquakes and flooding. Both lakes are the start of two rivers that head toward the sea. They are fairly wide and both relatively shallow.

Anguille Lake

Eau Chaude Lake

Eel Lake. Southwest of the Sugar Glass Caverns lies a secluded lake, fringed by forest on all sides. Herons are a common sight here, as are the copious freshwater eels they feed upon. The water is clear and inviting, and a short swim from any bank grants access to the islet at the center. The islet is thick with shrubbery, namely gooseberry, blackberry, and highbush cranberry, making it a rewarding destination for youngsters exploring on their own. They must be careful not to linger in the water too long, though, for the eels may bite! Experienced hunters seeking big game know to lie in wait at the shores, as elk, whitetail deer, and moose use the lake as a watering hole all year round.

Once a hot spring, it is now a medium lake near the much more hilly part of the pack lands. The water is considerably warmer than Anguille, as it is still fed by the original source of the hot spring and heated by underground volcanic heat. There are still some noticeable spots where the hot springs used to be divided and several are almost isolated enough with underwater ledges that mark old pool locations. The faint aroma of sulfur is almost absent, though still persists in sections where the old pools are. The deepest portion of the lake is unlikely to be deeper than the chest of the average Luperci.

Sugar Glass Caverns

A cavern type underground valley. Sugar Glass can be reached by traveling down any of the gentle, grassy slopes that lead underground. Inside, the caverns are mostly rock but covered in moss, grass, and vines. Occasional flowers sprout where the cutouts at the top filter light through. A few streams glide in from a few of the top entrances and have collected in a slow moving stream that wraps around the far edges of the caverns. Decidedly more wet and flooded, there were a couple of cave-ins here and there, though it is still accessible.

2.  Defunct Territories

2.1  Former Coastal Regions

Cave of Lascaux

On the cliffside coast of the Cour des Miracles packland, there is a small and ancient outcrop of land that juts towards the ocean. It can be found by passing between the points of Firefly's Cabin and the Arbes de le Falaise cliffs. The peninsula is an upward peak towards a formidable cliff-face, pocketed by many small caves. At the furthest point, there is a larger cave with a backward facing entrance that facesback down towards the heart of the packlands. It is a large, cavernous chamber, but the most remarkable aspect of this sacred place are the ancient and mystical pictures scratched into the stone of its walls. The cave of Lascaux is a haven from all sorts of foul weather, and a gallery from the beginning of time. Flooded and inaccessible.

Pirata Grotto

A partially submerged opening leads the way into Pirata Grotto, a cave well known for its majestic waters. Inside, the ocean water appears to glow a vibrant blue, even amidst the darkness of the cave. Well beneath the surface lies an opening which allows the sunlight to pour in, illuminating the water to the point that it glows. To the back of the cave is the very thing that gave the Grotto its name: remnants of a ship lie in wait, washed up and wedged in the rocks, rumored to have been the ship of a band of Pirates. While it seems almost impossible to gain entrance to Pirata Grotto, if one waits until low tide, the ocean washes away, revealing a small path of rocks that lead safely into the cave. Flooded and inaccessible.

Firefly's Cabin

Destroyed long before, it was the home of one of the founding members of the pack. It was finally destroyed in the flooding.

Isle of Wind

Rocky beaches on both sides limit the accessibility to this island. However, it is possible to reach it by boat as there is a protected inlet with an old crisscross of stairs leading up to the top. The top is fairly flat and covered with trees and a few desolate houses. The most interesting part of this place is the seclusion and the oddly abundant amount of rabbits. From the edges, it is possible to see the other smaller islands, though they are impossible to climb as they are surrounded by sheer cliffs. Destroyed in the earthquake that caused much of the Shattered Coast to collapse.

Illusion's Realm

A large outdoor theater, a short distance's travel from Lunenburg. Logs have been set up as seats, with a simple wooden stage where pack announcements and performances are done. Surrounded by trees the space where the theater lays seems to hold a secret, the hill where the seats rest gently sloping down to allow a wide view of the stage, and the magic that comes to life on it. Destroyed in the earthquake that caused much of the Shattered Coast to collapse.

Moonshine Cavern

The name may sound romantic, but this cavern connected to the Pirata Grotto holds a very obvious purpose: alcohol. In the back there is a working still cobbled together from found materials -- any Luperci with knowledge of fermentation and basic distillery could brew their own whiskey here. For an impatient drinker, there are also firkins and bottles of various liquors, some collected, some brewed by the cave's previous resident and notorious alcoholic, Jacquez Trouillefou. Anyone seeking to drown their troubles in a bottle will inevitably find themselves here. Flooded and inaccessible.
