Pilin
I'm a Pack NPC of New Caledonia! |
Pilin is a member of New Caledonia, ranked as a Peer.
His ancestral name erased forever after turning coat as to settle grudges during the initial battles against Old Caledonia, Pilin was the sole survivor of his family. Young and full of fight, the youth had fought hard against those that should have been allies, though it was all in vain. Having suffered against another falconer’s bird’s attack, his face was mauled by its talons, though he did not lose his eyesight. In the battles, he lost his own bird and withdrew from the fighting entirely.
Using his tracking skills, he followed the trail of the exodus of Caledonians and lingered in the areas they camped in before finally stumbling upon them where they’d eventually make their new home. Hesitant to join or even show his face, he stared on from afar and took in information from loners around.
Eventually, Pilin worked up enough courage and entered the Realm, vowing to serve King Iomair and his people as repentance for his past actions.

Even as a member of New Caledonia, Pilin always seems afraid. Never the first to strike up a conversation, and a furrowed brow of worry or fear is always on his face. His tired eyes make him look years older than the seasons he has lived thus far. Quite possibly the most cloistered member of New Caledonia, Pilin boasts an air of mystery around him. Conversations are kept short, his words typically terse, but only so that he may leave, or keep others away. Without others around he appears to be a whole different person, happily conversing with his bird, even laughing with him at times. Anxiety hits him hard when he speaks with a packmate, however, especially Old Caledonians and high ranking members. Guilt rides on him and weighs on him heavily. His tired eyes are a result of that guilt, and the lack of sleep it causes. Despite the internal pain, he still serves the court, secretly trying to find a true way to redeem himself, not just service to the realm, something that would last, make an impact. Puppies and birds are the only things he seems to come out of his shell for, though the former are often accompanied by their parents, so the rare sight of confidence and contentedness coming from Pilin is hardly ever seen. To him the youth is a sign of the pack healing from its wounds. Eventually there will only be stories of the old war, with no memory of Old Caledonia held, and he is okay with this. Perhaps selfishly so, as there would be no memory of his family's betrayal on their own people. |
