Gavroche Benoît is a dog living as a loner in the lands surrounding the northern end of the Bay of Fundy. He is an eccentric craftsman and storyteller with an exceptionally shady past.

One of former Cour des Miracles King Jacquez Trouillefou's children, Gavroche and his sister were born in Tampa, Florida. He was very young when his father left the family behind, and it was not long after that that the remainder of his fell apart. Pushed out onto the streets as an adolescent, Gavroche journeyed to New Orleans. He fell into company with a man named Rémy Lebeau and his gang -- a group called The Guild. Theives and muscle for hire, their fortune eventually ran out. When blame was placed upon his absent friend, Gavroche went to find the truth for himself.

This journey brought him all the way to Nova Scotia, where after a long search Gavroche eventually found Rémy. His friend had since joined a coyote clan engaged in a war. Following this, with remnants of their old gang appearing in nearby areas, Rémy left with Gavroche and the two began hunting these people down. They were briefly accompanied by Gavroche's nephew Jehan de l'Or and his guardian, Jairus Mercer, though the two men never revealed their more nefarious purposes. When even Rémy left the area, the reluctant to travel Gavroche spent his time as a loner, regularly camping out in both Aelcrest Shore and Amherst. His life was disrupted by the Inferni and Cour des Miracles War, during which he is unjustly attacked by a coyote simply for being a dog. Injured and frightened, Gavroche sought refuge with a a pair of foxes living in Vinátta, which he joined and remained a member of for two years. Gavroche returned to the life of a loner when the pack disbanded, moving around between the Isthmus Of Chignecto and Wabanaki Coast.

He became friendly with a young man that summer...

His body is built largely like a shepherd dog, though the long fur covering it hides his muscular appearance. 3.  Relationships

4.  History

Fantine Benoît Fauchelevent was one of the French-speaking dogs in Tampa that joined Jacquez Trouillefou's first troupe. She befriended Rogue de l'Or, Seraphine, and others that would eventually join his sailing crew and travel north to Canada. She, however, did not share their dream of leaving Florida. In the fall of 2008, the Australian Shepherd cross bore Jacquez two children, a daughter she named Éponine Fauchelevent, and a son she named Gavroche Benoît. As a child Éponine displayed a hero-like worship of her father, the self-proclaimed king, and wanted to follow him everywhere. Gavroche grew tired of being ignored by his sister, and explored as much of Tampa as he could, often getting into close scrapes with some of the less friendly loners.

In the spring of 2009, Jacquez and Ruri gathered the crew and sailed off to 'Souls, never to return. Éponine, roughly six months old at the time, was furious that her mother had not allowed her to travel with them. She ran away from home in an attempt to follow her father. Gavroche stayed with his mother for another month or two, but a weary Fantine eventually kicked him out of the house, urging him to follow his adventurous instincts and find a troupe to keep him preoccupied like his father did.

Gavroche left Florida, traveling west. Along the way he began participating in minor crimes, many of which involved him acting as a decoy. This skill blossomed, and soon he proved to be a talented actor and liar. By the time Gavroche finally decided to settle again, he had picked up several less than honest skills. He had a reputation for being eccentric and, where other men had grown hard, instead had a heart of gold and often did all he could to help less fortunate.

Louisiana, as it turns out, is as rough and tumble as Florida ever was. Gavroche takes up with some radical young men for a while but is seriously wounded following a massive brawl that came to a head when a barn caught fire. Seeking refuge, Gavroche was taken in by a group called The Guild. It was here that Gavroche met another young man named Rémy. The two strike up a fast friendship and become partners. For two years the pair work alongside the rest of The Guild, committing burglaries and gaining control of several parts of New Orleans. This comes to an abrupt end when an ambush kills many of The Guilds members. In the aftermath, it becomes apparent that Rémy was responsible. The remaining members of the Guild swear to get revenge, and begin tracking the thief down.

Unable to believe this, Gavroche splits off from the group and tries to find his friend before they do. He ultimately looses track of Rémy in Missouri, and is himself turned around, taking the Tennessee River east. For nearly a year Gavroche hides out in the Great Smoky Mountains, avoiding the remaining members of The Guild. He keeps his ears open, though, and hears of their movement far north. Believing they might lead to further trouble, Gavroche follows the mountains all the way into New Hampshire, and then begins to follow an old highway to their supposed location -- a place called and talk of a place called Freetown.
