1.  Synopsis

Dustin Scarborough is a bright-eyed, bushy-tailed bird fanatic who's given up a life on the road to help tend the flocks of avian friends in Del Cenere.

His affinity for his feathered brethren started at a young age - and parents Judy and Earl were more than happy to indulge their children's fascination with the world around them; the community of the Lake Champlain Islands was that of a traveling traders band, though also largely fit in line with the ideals of a hippie commune. The Scarborough brood grew with a deep appreciation for the earth - and all the little animals that skitter on it.

But they also learned the worth of those things, and how to scrutinize the health of animals that passed through their hands. Eventually, setting out on his own, Dusty started a soul-searching and world-trotting adventure with a different troupe of merchants where he met up with Dillon Harland. When she, and a duo of dogs decided to put down roots in Del Cenere, Dusty eagerly joined them.

2.  Appearance

Basics

Dusty has a long, beakish nose and a narrow face with long, houndish ears that vanish into his hair, and round, kind eyes that are overtly and sometimes overly expressive. Brindle points peek from his otherwise dark saddle and scraggly, long hair. Though the hair that grows on his forelimbs doesn't possess the full-bodied afghan length, it's no less thicker than that which is on his head - every so often, Dusty will make an effort to trim-back the mass amounts of fur he's got - though he's far from talented with it, making him look scruffy and unkempt with his hack-jobs. Eustin Scarborough is a tall, blocky individual, looking the closest related to his Afghan heritage. He only has half of his whip-like tail.

  • Quirks, Gestures, Etc.: His thin hands are almost in perpetual motion, touching something or wringing or fidgeting. Dusty is rarely static.
  • Posture and Body Language: Rigid and alert posture, though unimposing, kind of like a scrawny beanstalk.
  • Scent: Del Cenere Gang, dust, dirt, sunflowers, salt, dog
  • Scars: Many, many tiny and insignificant ones from pecks, pokes, and scratches

    • Clothing: Button-ups, neckerchiefs and trousers, but not much else.
    • Accessories: Frequently patches and wraps his hands due to regular wounds or pulled hair thanks to his bird handling.

3.  Personality

Basics

Dustin Scarborough is nothing if not ridiculously adaptive.

He's been shaped by a largely mobile life, interacting with his tight-knit family that extended to his rather small community at large as well as the multitude of traders they did business with, always regarding everything with a basic level of respect and understanding of the nature of impermanence. As such, he's always conducted himself somewhat as a social chameleon, able to jump into different dynamics with relative ease and a winsome, amiable personality. However, even if unbeknownst to himself, this has made Dusty unbelievably shallow. He's eager to please, and wears his heart on his sleeve, but rarely digs deeper in his social interactions with others - and assumes other people are content to be the same. Open-minded as he is, he can also be unintentionally insensitive, exacerbated by his leanings towards being a fence-sitter or otherwise act as devil's advocate or minorly contrarian that borderlines the dismissive. Dustin, all things considered, had a remarkably open-minded and well adjusted adolescence and early adulthood. As such, he's remarkably tolerant of a great deal of things - however, meek and friendly as he is, he will not hesitate to point out bigoted or intolerant behavior and will pointedly turn conversation elsewhere. Unfortunately, this may make him somewhat appear as a 'fair-weather' conversationalist.

He is more than content to skate by on life and lacks drive and ambition to do little more than leave a positive impression.
