1. Synopsis
Gramma Dill is a curmudgeonly old sheep-herder who's taken up residency with the Del Cenere Gang to help maintain their resident flocks.
Dillon and Harebelle were born to Magnolia Harland and Hoboken Wallace in Windham, Maine, in a community of shepherds who maintained goats and sheep. Dill and her sister were nigh inseparable in their youth, though their relationship gradually grew more complicated as they each aged and matters of their family's dynamic slowly shifted - Dillon was always the steadfast sibling, and took to the work ethic of her father exceptionally well, and grew up to learn and appreciate the value of what her hands could do. Magnolia taught her girls how to shear wool, how to milk, how to weave. Ever dissatisfied with this life - Harebelle would keep her sister up late into the night where they would exchange fantastical stories and plans for their 'future', idle fancies of traveling and adopting a life of adventure.
While Dillon had always thought these fables as just that, Harebelle always took it far more seriously. When family tension finally piqued, Dill's sister left without another word.
For years, Dillon resented her own inaction - though continued to comply with the predestined life she had thought was expected of her. In her adulthood, she settled down with a man (despite her stifled preference for women) and attempted to start a family - though after two years and no children, Dillon caught him out in another woman's bed -
Finally taking after Harebelle, Dillon departed Windham with a traveling band of merchants (with a few unsavory characters, themselves), and set out into the world, watching after their meager supply of livestock until she finally came upon, and settled down, at Del Cenere.
2. Appearance
Basics |
Dillon's hair is thick, curly, and moderately dry in texture, thus making her appear bigger than her somewhat lean shape. Remarkably, she's only silvered out around her lips and eyes with age. Her markings are very standard for a sable phantom coloration. Dill has been undeniably shaped by a life of hard work and diligent focus. Her shoulders are broad, ribs are deep and boxy, and her palms are rough-hewn with years of labor. The hair wears thin around patches on her knuckles - remnants of age-old fights and catching her hands in her work. She does not smile often, and when she does, it's a fragile thing - her aging face has been creased by the lines of her focus, gouging furrows between her brows and crinkling the edges of her eyes with crowfeet. She very typically, and almost characteristically, appears unimpressed, unless hoofstock seem to be involved. She isn't particularly vain - and has all the makings of a stern, practical woman, which is reflected in any modest dress she chooses to wear; and is not averse to any of her forms, and tailors her shape to the work at hand. In optime, Dillon does regularly wrap her knuckles with cloth, perhaps with the placebo affect that it'll stave off aches in her increasingly arthritic fingers.

3. Personality
Basics |
Despite scowling a lot and generally being cantankerous, Gramma Dill is a good teacher with a heart of gold. Tough as leather and hard as nails, very little seems to phase Gramma Dill and she can hold her own in a fight surprisingly well - though she possesses a long fuse and a deep well of patience. She doesn't tolerate much by way of guff. Dillon also seems to enjoy teaching others, and likes to busy herself with menial tasks and working the loom, and often totes the value of a job well done. Aside from her outwardly stalwart and bitter personality, Dillon does have a soft spot - family has always been a large driving force in her life, and held with utmost importance; As such, she projects and outwardly guiding and maternal persona. Gramma Dill carries guilt - as perceived failure - with her own inability to raise a family of her own. She frets over those she's close to, and has a habit of, more or less, unconsciously "adopting" individuals younger than her that she's fond of. She is Agnostic, and tends to place her belief in tangible things - she regards things she cannot explain with open suspicion, but she does believe in ghosts. |
