The AniWaya Conflict was a series of tension and attacks between AniWaya and Crimson Dreams, and later, Cour des Miracles.

The tensions began when Maska Ahote arrived with some support from the Great Tribe in AniWaya. He claimed that Dawali was not the rightful Kalona (Chief) and that he had taken the title under false pretenses. Maska demoted Dawali and the sub-leader, Ralla.

It soon became clear that Maska had another agenda. His handling of subsequent situations caused tension with neighbouring packs of Crimson Dreams and Cour des Miracles.

2.  History

2.1  Maska's Arrival and Dawali's Demotion

On July 14, 2011, Maska Ahote, his right-hand man Wematin Kuruk and other wolves arrived in AniWaya.[10] With Maska, he brings a number of warriors: Mercy Heaven, Nahele Helaku, Thel Solitaire, Nobody, Shadi Tuwa, Shikoba Wayna, Vysengi Zacot, Whitechapel, and Cheveyo Katal?.

They hailed from the Great Tribe, from which the AniWaya in Nova Scotia descends. The next day, Maska holds a meeting to announce that he is taking over as an interim leader while Dawali Amara and Ralla have been removed from their posts as leaders.[11] Dawali was demoted to the Itawamba rank and publicly shamed for taking up the post of Kalona, Chief, which rightly belonged to Aacha Ahote, the leader of the Great Tribe.

2.2  Preparations by AniWaya

A few days later, Wematin begins recruiting wolves to work as warriors and scouts for AniWaya.[12] J'adore Austral, Claudius Aston, and Ayasha attend. Shiloh Grant interrupts the meeting hoping to speak to Ayasha, but leaves soon after. Wematin explains that the tribe is ill-prepared for war and that they must train to equip themselves.

Two days later, Maska asks Liliana Utina to train the horses for war.[13] She refuses and Maska retaliates by attacking her. Liliana, her mate Nayati Utina, and their children flee to Crimson Dreams.

2.3  Attack against Crimson Dreams and Hostages

On August 11, supporters of Maska attack Crimson Dreams.[14] AniWaya raids CD for the Utinas - unsuccessfully. Instead, they capture Anu and Fia, and nearly Parker! AniWaya's PNPC Jaeger is killed during the raid, and Claudius is captured by the Dreamers. That same day, Maska meets with his prisoners and argues with Anu[15] while Silvano interrogates Claudius for information.[16] Claudius is more than willing to speak, and after he hyperventilates and has a panic attack, later divulges as much as he knows about the situation.

The next day, Savina goes to the AniWayan borders with her supporters to negotiate a hostage exchange.[17] Crimson Dreams demand Anu and Fia returned to them, in exchange for Claudius. AniWayan Guardian Thel is killed during the parley, and CD wrestle Fia out of Maska's hands, but leaves Claudius behind with his old tribe.

While the parley is going on, Dawali finds Cow and Cow reacts with confusion and anger at Dawali's strange form.[18] While the Guardians and Maska are at the parley, the bull breaks free of his enclosure and runs in random directions, ruining some of the Guardians' tents near the Town Hall.

2.4  Counterintelligence in AniWaya

On September 25, Ralla calls for a secret meeting to assist the prisoners of AniWaya.[19] In attendance are: Ayasha, León, Luna?, J'adore, and Claudius.

2.5  Inferni Attacks and AniWaya stews

On September 5, Inferni turns up to raid AniWaya for food and valuables. One Guardian is killed as they fight them off, and Maska blames CD.[20]

2.6  Cour des Miracles takes charge and the Counterintelligence bears fruit

On October 1st, Vigilante enters AniWaya with a team of pack members and they confront Maska. They free Foxglove, who was being held by Maska.[21] The next day, Vigilante calls for a pack meeting after the raid, publically announcing war on AniWaya.[22]

On October 5th, Ralla and Dawali work together to free Anu.[23] Two days later, Furious with CD and CdM, Maska holds a tribe meeting to plan retaliation.[24] The raid he plans is to take place the very same night: AniWaya raids Cour des Miracles for Foxglove, and any loot or captives they can get their hands on.[25]

2.7  AniWaya Raids Crimson Dreams and Cour des Miracles

On October 7, furious with CD and CdM, Maska holds a tribe meeting to plan retaliation. The raid he plans is to take place the very same night.[26] AniWaya raids Cour des Miracles for Foxglove, and any loot or captives they can get their hands on.[27] Ayasha lures some Guardians away from the main raid, treacherously using her rank as scout to lead them to a group of fighters from Cour des Miracles for an ambush.[28]

During the raid, Wisteria Roads, Yanna Bell, Adam Parson, and Wiheme Yoon are killed.

The next day, AniWaya raids CD for Anu. The attack is low-key and focused, carried out by a small group led by Wematin. They fail to retrieve Anu, but manage to steal some goats - and Cambria Marino.[29] AniWayan Guardian Vysengi seeks to have some fun with Giselle during the raid on Crimson Dreams, but is interrupted by Silvano, who kills Vysengi.[30]

2.8  War

On October 17, Crimson Dreams and Cour des Miracles attack AniWaya together. Their goal? To stop Maska once and for all. AniWaya sees them coming and awaits them in the Village.[31]

  • Claudius leads a group of invaders to where Maska is hiding to flush him out. In the confusion, Haven attacks Claudius before he has time to explain, but soon enough, he is able to convince Haven and Vigilante he is on their side.[32]
  • Dawali attempts to stop the attackers from getting to where Maska is hiding. He lures them away under the pretense of showing them where Maska is.[33]
  • Battle![34]
  • The attackers try to free all remaining prisoners in AniWaya, and attack the cottage where the prisoners are kept.[35]
  • Skirmish between Cours des Miracles contingent and AniWaya.[36] Ayasha, Saxif, and Ralla try to help the invaders overcome the AniWayan Guardians.
  • A group of Crimson Dreams members confronts AniWayan guardians and takes out an archer.[37] Nobody and Mercy are killed.

During the attack, Armis Fulton, Lanna Irving, Aamund Moss, Cidnee Wemington, and Sekou Ka are killed.

2.9  Aftermath

At the end of October, Maska and his supporters are imprisoned as a result of the raid, and are kept in the prisoners' cabin. All prisoners formerly kept there were released. Leadership in CD and CdM are considering what to do with the situation, while members who had fled from or been exiled from AniWaya are encouraged to return. A tentative attempt of diplomacy is made, but Maska refuses it. Savina and Vigilante occupy AniWaya as occupying forces and Claudius is made the temporary 'leader' (but definitely not Kalona) to act as an intermediary between Cour des Miracles, Crimson Dreams, and AniWaya.

Dawali feels betrayed by the turn of events and feels betrayed by the AniWayans who worked against Maska to foil his plans.[38]

On November 1st, a new envoy -- Ulilohi Ehn -- from the Great Tribe arrives seeking information.[39] She is surprised to be greeted by Claudius, who explains that Maska is being held for war crimes and is pending a decision. She requests to see Maska, but Claudius is uncomfortable bringing him to the prisoner. He is worried she will try to help him escape. Instead, he calls for Vigilante and updates the other occupier of the situation. They agree that Ulilohi should not be allowed to see Maska until they can determine her intentions.

Results from the leaders' meeting are revealed: Maska and Dawali, with supporters, are sent back to the Great Tribe to partake in Maska's defense (or otherwise) on the accusations that he instigated war onto AniWaya without the right to do so.[40] It is revealed that he has directly disobeyed the orders of Chief Aatu in the Great Tribe, and was never given the right to assume leadership in AniWaya. In need of a leader, Claudius, Vigilante and Savina appoint newly arrived Ulilohi Ehn, who will report to them regularly. AniWaya is not allowed warriors in their tribe for as long as Crimson Dreams and Cour des Miracles deem necessary. The only remaining warrior, Cheveyo Katal? is kept in the Itawamba rank and not allowed to resume a warrior rank.

It is not until August 2012 that Claudius ventures to Cour des Miracles to petition for the return of AniWaya's warriors due to increasing wariness of Anathema after the attack of Liam Rhiannon on AniWayan member Gemma Sawtooth.[41]
