2023 — The Twenty-Third Year

Here, you would write a little blurb summarizing some of the major events of the year. Doesn't matter how long or short it is, though anything less than three lines looks a little silly. Please note that the years are split up into rough monthly groupings—"Early" consists of January - April, "Middle" consists of May - August, and "Late" consists of September - December.

1.  Early 2023

1.1  January

• Echoing the woes of yesteryear, the Winter of Discontent spells the end of New Caledonia.
  • 5 January: During the annual Call to Court, the traditional Duel between Sun and Moon goes awry.
  • 6 January: Caledonians and Salsolans alike begin to feel the effects of an apparent poisoning. While most cases are mild, High King Iomair's absence is keenly felt.
  • 8 January: A Caledonian messenger, Liam del Morte, is sent to check in with the Thistle Kingdom — though he is received poorly by O'Riley Eternity.
  • 11 January: One of the bards hired to host at the Call to Court is discovered lingering near the borders, testing the Realm's defenses. He and others are suspected to be spying on the pack.
  • 12 January: One scouting group sent to investigate discovers the deceased corpse of the Dark Strider. Meanwhile, Eulalie Savoy is kidnapped by Matias de Cubana, a mercenary that has joined forces with Rand Coara to wrest power from the Realm under the reign of the Goddess Nín.
  • 18 January: Níndari uncovers her father's plan to stage a coup of New Caledonia. Rand attempts to accost her and is killed in a frenzy by his daughter, who quickly flees. His body is discovered shortly thereafter by the rest of the pack.
  • 19 January: When Rand fails to return to the rest of the mercenaries, Matias orders an immediate invasion and pillaging spree of the Realm so that they can salvage what they can. The pack has little time to prepare, and Siskin Amarok defends the Realm at the cost of his life against Rosa Somnia, a remnant of the Eyes of Omni.
  • 21 January: The final showdown between Matias, Kalypso Savoy, Toraberā Tanaka, and Naomi Stryder — while Matias is killed, Kalypso's daughter, Eulalie, is fatally wounded and passes away in her mother's arms.
  • 23 January: With the Realm decimated, Kalypso Savoy officially disbands the pack. A Salsolan envoy arrives to survey the damage — and collect what is owed to them.
• 6 January: Lacrimosa Helsi, Bryagh Revlis, and Polaris Eternity are born in Salsola.
• 7 January: Bridget Braithwaite, Esmerelda de la Luz, and Lolicia Tejada are born in Del Cenere Gang.
• Salsola, under direction of Idrieus Eternity, launches their Library Expansion Project.

1.2  February

• 9 February: Jalsie Wolfe-Denahlii is born in Casa di Cavalieri.
• 11 February: Roman Wolfe, Jayce Knight, Nimue Denahlii, and Teemo Wolfe-Stryder are born in Casa di Cavalieri.
• The Shingetsu Trading Company, spearheaded by fallen queen, Kalypso Savoy, is formed and remains the only official tie to the disbanded New Caledonia.
• Camp Eclipse, made up of New Caledonian refugees, is formed under the direction of Chief Executive Officer, Liam del Morte.

1.3  March

• The Silver Strip Syndicate is formed close to former New Caledonian territory, operating a ranch that acts as a cover for shadier activities.
• Del Cenere Gang's territory experiences a shift following the winter thaw, resulting in landslides and minor damage.

1.4  April

• 3 April: Luca Damaichu, Emrys Damaichu, and Ayla Firebringer are born in Casa di Cavalieri.
• 9 April: Nakoma and Chepi are born in Del Cenere Gang alongside one stillborn pup; siblings Wiigwaas and Binesi do not survive long beyond childbirth.
• Aevum Absens is formed by the Sovereign, Jett Kilbride.
• Del Cenere Gang begins construction of the Yampah Lodge well in advance of the upcoming Stockshow.

2.  Mid 2023

2.1  May

• Salsola celebrates its 12th anniversary with an all-day Founders Day celebration.
• Members of Casa di Cavalieri stage a rescue mission for the Lune's lost son, Tokhaka Stryder, after it is discovered he is alive and living under a different name.

2.2  June

• 14 June: Volk Hushhowl is born in Casa di Cavalieri.
• The Midnight Krewe closes the doors of La Estrella Roja once more.
• Aevum Absens is short-lived and disbands, though many of the members continue to work and plot together, looking towards Del Cenere Gang.

2.3  July

• 29 July: Timur Prizmov and a stillborn sibling are born in Salsola.
• Salsola hosts a single's mixer to promote camaraderie (and betrothals, presumably) amongst their eligible bachelors and bachelorettes.
• Indi Knight, leader of Casa di Cavalieri's outpost, passes away, and Sola Aldora Knight relocates to Portland to fill the void.

2.4  August

• Del Cenere Gang's annual Lancaster Stockshow begins in earnest; representation from all current packs and loner bands are present, taking part in various events, contests, and competitions. However, chaos ensues on the night of the closing feast.
  • 20 August: Jett Kilbride and the remnants of Aevum Absens set up camp before the Stockshow is set to begin.
  • 22 August: A showcase of the Ashen's Polvo de Oro horse.
  • 23 August: Creatures in the Best in Show contest are given votes.
  • 25 August (afternoon): Different brews are given votes in Booze Tasting.
  • 25 August (evening): Día de las Fiestas marks the end of the Stockshow with a communal feast.
    • Following the potluck, Nazario del Bosque, leader of the Ashen, is attacked by Jett and his band of opportunists. Meanwhile, Henry Sharpe is caught up in the wrong place at the wrong time, paying for this mistake with his life.

3.  Late 2023

3.1  September

• 29 September: Isobel Winthrop is born in the Silver Strip Syndicate.
• Late September: Members of The Court of Fangs begin to come down with various symptoms of canine influenza.

3.2  October

• 16 October: A pair of American black bears? begin causing trouble for the Luperci they encounter.
• 20 October: Corentin Haskel and Mishibizhii de le Poer are born in the Court of Fangs.
• 21 October: Yuma Whitesage and Douglas Knight are born in Del Cenere Gang.
• Nazario del Bosque passes away due to his injuries, and a funeral is held in his wake. Peony Braithwaite, against the Wild King's wishes, wrests control of the Ashen for herself, fashioning the new title of Reina Dama as her crown.
• Del Cenere Gang solemnly honors their loved ones during Día de los Muertos.
• Salsola facilitates a round-up of wild horses in Drifter Bay.
• Salsola hosts its annual autumnal Last Supper, the Masquerade, on the night of the full moon.

3.3  November

• Drod? and his brother travel to Seabreeze Brink, and begin to run into members of the The Court of Fangs.
• Casa di Cavalieri honors their dead during their Spirits Passing celebration.

3.4  December

• 4 December In Seabreeze Brink, the bears Drod? and Buckleberry become more aggressive in their attempts to drive out The Court of Fangs and take their home for themselves.
• Salsola hosts The Thistle Market.
