2020 — The Twentieth Year

The early winter of 2020 kicked off with a wicked blizzard that lasted for nearly three days, though this was only the beginning of occurrences that would strike 'Souls. The first of two earthquakes struck in February, rattling Nova Scotia and dealing severe damage in the northeast. The dislodged snow and thaw brought with it rising waters and a strange spring, where tall, alien flowers sprouted around the coastline. Coincidentally, a trio of loners came to do some trading around this time. These Plague Doctors brought news of an oncoming disease with them, and traded many of their tinctures and supposed-cures to locals before departing.

A second and far more powerful earthquake shook the land in the summer, leading to even further destruction, especially in the ruins of human cities. The most dramatic change occurs when, months later, Death Mountain sank into the ocean. News of this spread by word of mouth as displaced loners abandoned the area.

In the late fall, a group of travelers arrive by sea in Mersey Cove. They begin to set up camp and construct a dock to better moor their ship, all the while seeking information about the area – local residents, flora, and fauna all seem to be of interest.

1.  Early 2020

1.1  January

• [M] 2 January: Salsola holds a trial to determine the fate of their prisoners. The loners -- Kaimkillen, Tenet March, Parva Larue, Priory Larue, and Morrow Larue -- are brought before the pack to face justice. Before any sentence can be named, however, chaos erupts. A desperate Tenet drags his sister over the edge of a cliff and to their deaths while the accused witch, Priory, is bound to a pyre and burnt alive. In a rare act of mercy, Morrow and Kaimkillen's lives are spared. The coyote is named a slave, while the puppy is taken in by the Boss, Elphaba Revlis, as her newest ward.
• 4 January: New Caledonia hosts its first annual Call to Court; the event is also open to several of their Salsolan benefactors, marking the beginning of a tenuous relationship between the two packs.
• 2 January: A foreigner joins Casa di Cavalieri. Unbeknownst to the pack, his arrival heralds the beginning of The Mad King.
• 10 January: A historic Blizzard begins when freezing rain sets in during the early morning hours and transitions to snow after sundown.
• 13 January: After several days of intense weather, the blizzard finally breaks.
• 19 January:
  • Timoth and Moraine are born in Mistfell Vale.
  • Gwaun Fir-Chlis and Tuilinn Fir-Chlis are born.
• 21 January: Tavor Fir-Chlis and Soron Fir-Chlis are born.
• 31 January: Naomi Stryder is born in New Caledonia.

1.2  February

• 6 February: A a 5.9 magnitude earthquake strikes northeastern Nova Scotia.
• 12 February: Sólveig Dawnrunner, Ingvildr Knight, and Rúna Stormbringer are born in New Caledonia.
• 15 February: Benjamin Michael Winthrop is born in the Del Cenere Gang.
• 18 February: Rúna Stormbringer, suffering from aspiration pneumonia, passes away.
• 19 February: An infection kills Thyri Dawnbringer.
• 20 February: Rumpa Nightshade dies as the result of injuries sustained in a fight with Elias Einar.
• Late February: Myrkr Stormbringer is found dead, likely due to liver problems brought on by alcohol abuse.

1.3  March

• 1 March: Tesla Greygrief, Renly Greygrief, Atlas Greygrief and Impreza Greygrief are born in Salsola.
• 11 March: Bastian Nightshade is born in Casa di Cavalieri.
• 31 March: The Plague Doctors set up a temporary camp in Fort Cumberland.

1.4  April

• 1 April
  • Strange Spring: Mysterious, sunflower-like flowers appear in the rocky crevices of cliffsides and along the chilly, windy shores where the sand meets the grass. Here and there, a few specimen can be found in coastal meadows and lightly forested areas. These Strange Spring
  • Two of the traveling herbalists, Capricorn Ziskid? and Dalibor Boscko?, meet with members of New Caledonia: Iomair, Kalypso Savoy, and Toraberā Tanaka. They discuss the coming plague and do some trading.
• 16 April: Cerulean D'Angelo dies.
• 22 April: Born Unto Trouble begins.
• [M] Late April: Helena Troy Lykoi kills Impreza Greygrief with poisoned meat.
• [M] 28 April: An encounter with a dangerous loner leads Helena Troy Lykoi to believe that she is no longer safe in Salsola. Seeing this as an opportunity, she convinces her secret lover and former-slave, Andrew Winthrop, to join her (and their children) and leave the pack.

2.  Mid 2020

2.1  May

• [M] 7 May: Andrew Winthrop fakes his death in order to escape Salsola. He is assisted by his son, Rufus Lykoi.
• 10 May: A 7.8 magnitude major earthquake erupts midday. The epicenter, Primeval Memories, is ripped asunder when a fault forms.
• 26 May: Evariste and Esyllt are born in Mistfell Vale.

2.2  June

• 1 June:
  • Soledad Stryder and Celia Knight are born in Casa di Cavalieri.
  • Hageshi Tanaka, Leandra Savoy, Valkyrie Savoy, Yuki Tanaka, Hokori Tanaka and Dorian Savoy are born in New Caledonia.
• 6 June: Velour Valentine, Taffetta Valentine, Tattersall Valentine, and Intarsia Valentine are born in Salsola.
• 15 June: Azalea Eternity, Lilium Eternity and Whisper Eternity are born in Salsola.
• Late June: Posey Prior, suffering from dementia, passes away in Mistfell Vale.
• 27 June: Lyall Hushhowl and Nilda Catori are born in Casa di Cavalieri.
• 30 June: Mistfell Vale disbands.

2.3  July

• 3 July: Esperanza Tejada, Jimena Escuella and Thiago Escuella are born in the Del Cenere Gang.
• [M] 6 July: Luca Knight of Casa di Cavalieri is attacked on his pack's borders and left for dead. Though the Lune is found alive, the fate of Ovidiu is far more grim.
• 10 July:
  • In the aftermath of his attack, Lune Luca hosts a pack meeting announcing new rules for protection. Dissension begins to grow among the Cavalieri.
  • Brannon O’Neil and Maisie O’Neil are born in Casa di Cavalieri. Their mother, Beatrix Poitier, passes away from complications following childbirth.
• 11 July: Cassidy Sinclaire is born in the Del Cenere Gang.
• [M] 18 July: Intarsia Valentine loses her life while under the care of her father's niece, Symre Rask. Her accidental death resulted in Symre fleeing -- and later being exiled -- from Salsola.
• 31 July: Nayavota Denahlii calls a pack meeting asking Luca to be honest and defend his choices to the pack.

2.4  August

• [M] 15 August: Lune Luca finds an envelope by his door with a threatening message inside. He calls a trial for Duncan Mac'claidheim and Tessa Raskin.
• 15 August: The Troupe opens the doors to La Estrella Roja!
• 17 August:
  • Lune Luca is [M] put on trial for the killing of Duncan and Tessa.
  • Following the trial, [M] The Lune is found dead. Sola Aldora Knight steps down when Raghnall Thorburn questions her actions, and a new leadership is formed called the Knights of Fenris.
• 22 August: Ohja is killed by his son, Shaamah, during a [M] brutal confrontation.
• 31 August: The last of the strange flowers stop blooming, and go dormant once more.

3.  Late 2020

3.1  September

• 1 September: Death Mountain begins to slide into the Atlantic Ocean. It will disappear completely over the next few days.
• 11 September: Nelli Silva, among the loners abandoning the Eastern Realms, takes a wrong turn and ends up a little too close to Salsola's border. She is questioned by Lace Valentine and Idrieus Eternity while O'Riley Eternity observes. Luckily for Nelli, she is quick to leave once she realizes her mistake.
• 15 September
  • When Raghnall Thorburn and Jamie O'Neil are overheard by Warlord Cedric Stryder, they decide to take drastic actions to ensure their plans remain a secret to the rest of the pack.
  • Warlord Cedric challenges Jamie as he returns to Fort Kingsbury, and the two long-time rivals have [M] one last fight.
  • Fallen-Sola Aldora challenges Raghnall for the right of leadership, and he honors her, resulting in [M] a fight to the death .
• 16 September – Sola Aldora formally reclaims her title as leadership, and promotes Cedric to be the pack’s new Lune.
• 20 September: Caspian Knight and Lucian Marino are born in Casa di Cavalieri.
• 30 September: Thelma Del Mar is killed during a conflict.

3.2  October

• 3 October: A trial is held by the Del Cenere Gang. Born Unto Trouble concludes.
• 13 October: Cassandra Asylum passes away peacefully, having lived out her last days in Ohio.
• 31 October:
  • Worick Greyfire, Nicolas Greyfire and Alexandra Greyfire are born in Bête Noire.
  • Zasha Hushhowl and Lyubov Hushhowl are born in Casa di Cavalieri.

3.3  November

• 12 November: Mahigul Feriqi and Kylychbek Feriqi are born in the Del Cenere Gang.
• 27 November: Nova Hushhowl is born in Casa di Cavalieri.

3.4  December

• 3 December: Lossë Fir-Chlis and Meril Fir-Chlis are born in New Caledonia.
