Stryder is an English name meaning walker. It is pronounced STRAYD-er. The original Stryder foundation was a small and purely feral pack founded by alpha brothers Oriq and Iuli Stryder in Ontario, Canada. After surviving for a number of years the majority of the pack and nearly remnants of the Stryder name were run off and killed by a territorial grizzly bear attack. The only survivors were Lyris Stryder and her brother Kenyon Stryder (Kenyon was eventually lost after searching years for his sibling and never seen again and so is assumed to be dead) who were the offspring of Oriq.

Lyris is the last and the first member of the Stryder family, and came to Nova Scotia in late 2012. She has since made a name for herself. After brief membership of both Sangi'lak and New Dawn, Lyris eventually settled down in Casa di Cavalieri, and took leader and king Luca Knight as her mate. She bore two litters by him, forging the expansion of the Stryder line. Stryders are widely known to be strong-willed and fiery-spirited, and many exhibit feral traits or carry scars.
